| I've had my Sportster Replay for a little over a year now, and I think it's great. Well, I move my Sirius around a lot between my car and my work vehicle, so sometimes the wires get a little tangled. The other day, in an attempt to untangle some wires, I pulled out the antena - along with part of the reciever itself. I tried to just put it back together, but it was broken. I knew the Iron Shiek was coming on the Stern Show this week, and that was something I didn't wanna miss, so I went to Walmart and got a new reciever. Thinking the programming's the same no matter what reciever I get, I went with the cheap $28 reciever they had. I called Sirius and switched my service over to the new one, and it now sucks. I get a lot of static with this one. I used to never get static. Also, the Sportster had the Pause and Rewind features - which came in handy with my job, as I get out of the vehicle a lot, and sometimes there's things I don't wanna miss. Also, the Sportster lets you set up a favorites list so you know when certain songs come on on other channels - a very nice feature. The Walmart El Cheapo (whatever they call this model) has none of that. I mean, I guess it's better than nothing. And I still got to hear the Iron Shiek interview... But, if you're trying to decide which reciever to get, trust me, go for the Sportster... or the Stilletto (which I don't have, but it's on a wish list...) |

As usual you get what you pay for.
There is a reason why it was $28 and not $100 like the sportster/starmate. |

| You can thank the FCC and David Rehr for the shitty FM transmitters on today's radios. |

Yeah, that's pretty much my point... I was more or less posting this for anyone who's wondering about what reciever to get, if they haven't tried out Sirius yet. Some people might be tempted to get the cheap reciever just to get a taste of what Sirius is all about, I'm just warning those people that - as you say - you get what you pay for. |

You will get static on the new expensive ones too - FCC crackdown. |

Exactly. A Stiletto will do that as well. But get the $28 receiver and a $20 FM Direct Adapter and you are all set. |

| my brother got his old radio replaced with the stratus and idk if its the fact that he wired it himself but there is a lot of static. my mom has the sportster(i think) and there is pretty much none and she had free professional installation on it after a year of shitty service |

I have a Streamer GT, bought it the December before the move to Sirius, and it transmits around the house, out in the yard (acre+), and I payed $5.00 after rebate...
I have a car adapter and an extra antenna, so it goes in the car quite easily...
I pray it never dies, as the new FM transmitters are crap...
And my S50 transmits (FM) at least 100 ft, thru the walls...
