I emailed the five contacts listed at Master Mehrdad's site and just heard back from Joel Collins, Martial Art / Muay Thai Trainer & Fight MatchMaker.

Hadley won, TKO 2nd round, ref stopped it. Brent knocked the guy down twice in the first round and landed a kick to the head in the 2nd that ended it. I'm guessing Bubba really is down on SFN if no one from the show posted here. Kind of sucks.

Cool, thanks for the update! I'm glad he won, the ribbing would have been bad if he hadn't.

Oh god yes it would have been a killer for Brent if he had of tapped out in the first round. Congrads Mr. Brent.

Brent lost by TKO in the first round. I saw it, I sat in the center on the 3rd row on the bleachers with my son (in front of concession stand).

Brent's match was the second last of the night. His opponent was probably 10 years younger and a foot or more higher. Having that reach and speed was too much.

All fighters had shin pads, gloves and headgear. One ref worked all the matches and some lady was the announcer. probably from Brent's club. The guy in charge of Brent's club was running the show and they all did a good job.

THE MATCH

They came out at the bell and touched gloves, Brent did not have any offense per se and was kind of feeling things out, crouching kind of. Didn't throw a kick. They mixed it up with punches in the middle of the ring for about a minute then over a bit to the far neutral corner and move ed towards the near neutral corner (where the stairs were)

Then out of nowhere the opponent cracked Brent across the face with a shin.

Brent went down, got up for what looked like was going to be a standing 8 count.

When Brent got up, he staggered kind of to the right and looked dazed in the neutral corner, the referee called it just like that. Brent was more stunned for a moment than hurt.
Brent was a good sport and congratulated his opponent. He did not look hurt.

Bubba was there with a Packer shirt on (not Farve) and a yellow ballcap. He had reserved seats (metal chairs) and there was a whole row of Bubba, Heather who looked beautiful, her daughter and Tyler with a Peyton Manning shirt on (some others I did not recognize in the VIP row). Bubba and Heather were very cool and nice to anyone that shook hands or said hello. They looked like a class act and a fine family. Bubba, Spice and the rest were all cool, they did not try to steal the show or anything. Just attended like fans to support Brent. I saw the Bubba Raw Cameras there and they were shooting promo stuff on the other side of the ring.

I saw Spice, he had a cap on, 25 Cent (full afro always on phone) and some others I could not name but probably from Bubba's crew. Brent was in the corner of the gym with his wife when we came in, the camera crew and others came in later. Brent said hello to my son when he saw him in the men's room. He was cool.

Give Brent credit for having the balls to get in shape and get out there. He was just a overmatched. I thought they might have a little hokey pokey fake stuff going on or maybe they would let Brent win for Bubba Raw. It looked totally on the level, it was the only KO of the night.

I was at the Safety Harbor Community Center with my son early. We watched them set up the ring and things started after 6 15 pm. We got there real early (5 pm) since we wanted to be sure to get seats and did not know what to expect since the place was small. Saw one guy with a Bubba Army shirt, saw Spice go shake his hand.

There were a dozen matches with a short intermission in between. A concession stand and a few tables to the side were selling black t shirts on the left when you walked in. The place got pretty crowded by the time Brent came out.

That's the honest rundown of it. We came over from Orlando for the weekend and we were glad to have seen the fights and the Bubba gang.

Thanks Jai. Best first post ever.

Wonder who would win if Brent and Spice went at it?

Dam!,

I thought Brent at least would make it out of the first round.

Cant wait till tommorrow this should be interesting
46+2
Damn! I think Brent probably would've had a better chance if takedowns and BJJ were allowed. Oh well....it's just his first fight anyways.

I bet there's gonna be some ruthless ribbing tomorrow.
nedmark61
good 4 him.......
tld94
Brent deserves our respect. Late 30's getting in there mixing it up, shit aint easy. Win or lose Brent's got balls gotta respect that. There's no shame in losing, until tomorrow afternoon, YIKES!
Kyroc
Thanks for the update jai. That sucks for Brent, but getting greased by a shin is more about bad luck than anything else. No cheap heat for Hatley on Monday! (Scratch that, Brent is getting a ribbing either way but I'm rooting for you kid).

Full Trucker Effect cannot come fast enough tommorrow. I can only imagine the Brent song parodies that will come out of this. But Brent deserves a lot of credit for having the balls to step into the ring.

man, that sucks. its what i thought would happen when they described who he was fighting though. i mean from the video of brent and even his instructors words he's not all that coordianted when it comes to fighting. fighting a much younger ex football player with a height and reach advantage is a tough first opponent to overcome. he is most likely a better ground fighter and his standup is probably his weakest part of his game especially considering he is training with people who's biggest weakness is standup like pretty much all gracie bjj fighters.

Maybe this guy was a better athlete, but Brent has been training for months, and if you were listening to the show last week (or maybe the end of the week before) his opponent has only been training for 18 days. I really don't know shit about muay tai, but I would think that having as little experience as this Jocelyn character has he should have taken a beaten; but like any fight, one lucky shot is all it takes.

Better luck next time kid!

Still love ya (in a non-faggot way)!

Thumbs up for Brent getting in the ring! I think it's hard to judge his competitor based on his lack of training - someone can be a good street-fighter, and not necessarily have the training. This guy would probably get his ass kicked my someone with more experience, Brent is still really a beginner too.
Grover
thanks for sharing the info! That guy was cocky, Im glad Brent beat his punk ass

Hats off to Hatley....At least he had the sac to get in their....Lots of guys walking around these days acting like they are bad...you don't see them gettin in the cage..hell, you don't see them doing anything but talking....

Thanks for being an inspiration to us lazy a$$e$

You can upload the pictures to the web, like photobucket or some place, and post the pictures that way.

Good. Now he can move onto the next pop culture fad. MMA is great, but since TUF, everyone thinks they are a fighter.

jesus christ let the excuses fly. The guy went from a jabrone to a ringer in record time. Outstanding. Sounds like Hatley is lucky that the guy didn't shove the intro music cd squarely up his ass.

he got tko'd in the first round - a "total mismatch" according to Brent " the guy must have been training for a very long time" blah blah blah. If the ref didn't stop it his own corner was going to according to Brent.

He was crazy for fighting anyway. Hes been training for what? 6 months??? That aints shit. Hopping into a fight so soon is a good way to get hurt. Even with the pads.
ArtieInBoston
We need to get the video posted up somewhere for free. It's only a minute, so why can't they just put it on BTLS?
BonswanaMiliken
I hope this is the last time Brent tries to fight at 195. If he is a legit 5-10 He probably will be at a height disadvantage until he gets down in the 175 range.

Whoever booked this guy for Brent's opponent obviously didn't want Brent to win. In the video on BTLS.com the guy Brent fought is trying not to laugh when he tells the camera he has only been fighting a few weeks.

Ah, I knew that he'd lose, that bitch can't fight. So he takes a few classes and thinks he knows something now. Grow up running the streets from your teens and you will learn more then he has or will for a while yet to come. I hope he loses the next one too so he will realize that he ain't no fighter kid!

Props to Brent for being brave enough to even try...that's a damn sight more than most would do. It doesn't
make any sense to talk about it and play the woulda, coulda bullshit game when the only way to find out is
to try it, even if there's an asskickin' waiting with his name on it....

Brent is one of my favorite all time people in the Howard/Bubba universe and losing his first MMA bout doesn't change that one bit.

Go Brent!
