I realized after today's show from Jan 2006 that the Howard 100 staff is now down to 4--Lisa G, Shulli, Ralph Howard and Steve Langford. Here is the Wikipedia story;

Former Reporters and Staff
During the month of June 2006 at least four employees of the Howard 100 News were "let go". Stern said that this was needed downsizing and despite the loss the news is still “very important to the channels.” News director Liz Aiello left Howard 100 News to become the vice president and general manager of Martha Stewart Living Radio. [5]

Penny Crone and George Flowers left Howard 100 news in January 2007 due to budget cuts. [6]

Liz Aiello (Oct 05 - Aug 06)
Mike Piazza (Oct 05 - Jun 06)
Phil Iazzetta (Oct 05 - Jun 06)
Michelle Jerson (Oct 05 - Jun 06)
Penny Crone (Oct 05 - Jan 07)
George Flowers (Oct 05 - Jan 07)
Steve Juchnevcius
James Kouledianos
Lou Pelligrino
Erica Phillips

The staff was way to bloated to begin with. Penny Crone was good radio though so I'm not sure why they let her go. Luckily they redirected that budget to more ground breaking radio.

the entire concept was ridiculous from the start... needing that many people to cover news from 1 person ?? no point .. .. . .

they could fire 2 or 3 more of the h100 news people i don't think anyone would notice. . .

I remember when the cancelled the news show Jimme Kimble was on and he talked about the news's "demotion". They played it off that it was just a change to hourly reports. He laughed at them. Jimmee saw the writing on the wall.

Oh, I would DEFINITELY notice if Lisa G left.

The news would be SO much less annoying.

I suppose, an integral part of the cast for sure.

If by budgeting they mean, too many reporters and not enough unique stern related bullshit for them to cover, then I guess so.

Plus, the reporters are only allowed to go so far with their investigating when it comes to the stars. With everything else that doesn't directly involve the five main stars of the show, the news department has carte blanche.

Ironically, Howard fires shots at Rupert Murdoch without a shred of guilt.

*shrug*

But, it's a comedy talk show hosted on comedy channels and it should be taken about as serious as The Colbert Report, despite how "real" and "honest" it seems. Just laugh and move on.
tonguechow
While the Howard 100 News Team was a partial goof, those were real people drawing a real paycheck with real benefits. They weren't a bunch of interns working for free. Sirius couldn't afford to pay them top wages for a minimum amount of work. Hopefully, the people who worked at H100 News, and have since left, had some fun and made some decent money at Sirius before moving on to their next "real world" gig.

I seem to remember an interview he had on Letterman, pre eh-eh-eh days, where he touted the news department and said it had carte blanche even on him. Funny how a Valentine's gift changes things!
Fred The Midget
Don't forget, they had those people before Howard got his old tapes back. They needed "filler" back then. High Pitch Eric wasn't going to shit forever. (RIP Craptacular)

I love the news segments. It's so easy to fast-forward through them on my Stiletto.

they should have kept penny on, way better radio than Lisa G.

I agree....Guess Penny didn't "suck up" quite enough. She also didn't feed the fat asses cupcakes on Wednesdays. They used to beat the shit out of Penny which was good radio...

Exactly... listen to the news people who are gone in those older shows... they sucked... period.

Penny was good radio but Howard wants it goofy but real... the ones who took it seriously while still being able to blend with the show are still around.

Ralph Howard, Steven Langford and Lisa G are all that's needed.

I like Shuli's stories kinda but he should be doing more shit than news stories, so fire him and put him in the back with richard and sal.
W00dYi
It's not really news. It's only positive Howard stories. One person could do that. Maybe keep Shuli and Langford. Lisa G kind of annoys me.
wujekcity
i really dont know why they got rid of penny over lisa g..im assuming lisa must have been a much cheaper contract
sfgirl
That's a whole lot of people to cover everything Howard. I mean there's only so much a news team can cover when limited like that. It's unfortunate that Penny was let go. She was a perfect fit for the show. Just crazy and unstable enough to make her fun and interesting. Now we are left with someone with a blow hole in the forehead.

The Howard 100 News Team started out at 19...that's my recollection. I know most had no contract. Some of the 19 are still around but are classified as something other than part of the News Team (e.g., Jon Hein).

I'm old school: I miss the hour-long (noon and) 6p News. That was great stuff! They came up with entertaining stories and had total fan involvement by interviewing us and taking our calls. It was a thrill to be a part of a news story or opinion piece! We also had the opportunity to give our critiques of fucked-up show concepts like the "Jeff the Vomit Guy" show. Another great idea was the Superfan Roundtable via phone. I was part of the (one and only?) all-female roundtable. I miss that level of fan involvement. The now-gone members of the H100 News Team were all utilized back then, because of the in-depth coverage and airtime they were afforded. The channels have evolved and no longer have the need for so many doing that kind of detailed work. I miss them.
:mtears: :sadbye:

And don't EVEN get me started on how much I miss The Friday Show! :bigcry:

they should get rid of the news team. with the savings they could afford not to have commercials.

tired of that shalom biyatch thing though.
i am just sayin.

Bring Back Pennie Chrone!
I remember when teafully she accepted her new Position and would promised Howard nothing but the Best in journalistic Gredo. Experience and non- judgemental Post she would offer!
That day she spoke she had lost her job at FOX...and had nowhere to go...
But Howard TV took her in...
And with all Bullshit she had to put with and All the GooFs they did on her it was Classic!
And now she's gone ...'because somebody' makes cup cakes on Wednesdays....WAAAAAAAAA
She'll be Missed.

As long as LisaG is on staff, the news department is too big.
ronan11
the news defies all physics: it both sucks and blows at the same time
angryashell
Lisa G is stealing money. give her the axe
tball_mama
I had been wondering what happened to Penny Crone. She was good radio but I bet she annoyed the shit out of everyone behind the scenes.
AustinGos
I wonder why they kept Lisa G and not Penny. Although Lisa G is more professional - Penny was a trainwreck and almost doubled as a wackpacker.

Lisa G does nothing but kiss howard and beths ass ... she may even kiss howards ass more than sal. Booooring radio.
SwingOnThis
Remember when everyone was saying that Michelle Jerson was sexy?

I went and looked for a pic of her and it turned out that she was really fat.
clearpepsi
I guess it was a little bloated and their scope was a little off at first, they should be doing more entertainment and debunking news, like looking into D. Boniduchi's radio ratings claims, but man they are great - This is what they should be spending Bubble the love guy's budget on

Bring back Penny. They could have gotten a lot of material and funny bits out of her.

Thanks for the info on Penny I had been wondering for some time.
Long live Lisa G, so HOT!!!
JINGLEBLOMB
I agree, they should bring back Penny Crone.I realy cant stand the way Lisa says,Lisa GGGGeey.Oh my god,I could rip my hair out out and look like scot the engineer. The way she comes into the studio and says HELLO and the way she says ILL BE HERE ALL DAY.One day that wig will fall off her head and she will be laughed out of a job.Hopefully soon!

Are you kidding me! Lisa G sucks! She doesn't fit in. Bring back Flowers... :p
bababobo
I was very disappointed with Lisa bailing out of Nick Manning's porn shoot a couple of weeks back. If she was a real reporter she would have got that mic anywhere she could get it for a laugh, especially when the anal crap started (no pun intended)

She said that she left because "there might be doodie?" If that's not Howard gold I don't know what is. Just Lisa's repulsion and freaking out if it happened would be replayed for weeks.

Howard really should have read her the riot act for bailing early on that one. She does not have what it takes to be a Stern 100 reporter. She need to realize she works for Howard Stern, not CNN.

Penny >>>> lisa g

Lisa G sure has a nice sexy voice. The only thing about her report is that you hear a phony person trying to convince us that she really cares about the people she is reporting about but in reallity she is ready to throw anybody under the bus, Howard excepted, and try to get as much airtime and exposure as possible. Eg: Staff picture at Christmas.
jgl4224
I am surprised they still have it on. I figured they would have dropped the whole idea by now since they got rid of the actual newscasts.
ttruj33
How much do you think Lisa G is pulling in?
cljw31
sternowitz
They don't fire lisa g, because they don't want a lawsuit. I think Howard is sorry he ever hired her. He is trying to give her as much work as possible so that she can never say he treated her unfairly or discriminated against her or abused her.

Right on Xoom.
showincrisis
I liked the idea, but unfortunately Howard castrated them when it came to private stuff about him and the inner circle. He obviously didn't realize he's changed so much that he'd never allow them to do anything about his private life, in other words, their job. :(
