Abba
I love the service, but goddamn are they a bunch of fuckin scam artists!

I've had to replace my units countless times because they simply cease to work. I have 3 subs, and all the radios have been replaced more than once.
Everytime there's a charge on my credit card that's shady, it's always been Sirius just dipping their theiving hands into my account and simply taking money out.

I had a warranty replacement last month on my Sportser replay, and I got it on July 10. I sent the thing back on July 21, and this morning I was checking my account and saw that there was $150.00 that was unavailable. I called my bank to find out where the charge came from, and of course, it was Sirius.
Apparently, they "didn't recieve my warranty replacement" and charged me $150.00 for it. By the way, you can buy a brand new unit for $50.00 on ebay or best buy. They didn't bother calling me about it , they just decided to take money out, la de dah, we have all these credit card numbers and we'll use them as we see fit....

If I didn't notice the charge, like I didn't a few months ago, they would ahve simply taken the money and ran. As it turns out, they DID receive the unit 3 weeks ago but "forgot" to note my account.

Be very careful when dealing with those assholes. I guess they're trying to turn a profit ANYWAY POSSIBLE. :fu: Sirius management.

I don't buy from Sirius.
I've also had to replace units, and have had nothing but good service from crutchfield.com.
I called customer service and told them the radio quit. They started asking me to try this and that. I told them I'd already tried everything in the troubleshooting guide. Their reply?
"We'll send a replacement today. Just take what you need out of the box, and send back what you don't need in the postage paid carton we'll also send.
Had it in 2 days.
sgb1975
Read the fine print...I'll bet that charge is listed in there somewhere. And for something like this, I definitely would've got postal insurance and some kind of tracking info for the package.

Weird. I've had an active subscription since 2005, and I've never had to replace any hardware, and it gets used everyday.

MattyBags
sorry for the trouble.

But it isn't the "norm"

I bought the cheapest radio (Xact Visor 39.99)... Its been almost two years and never once had a problem. :dontknow:

Crutchfield is the way to go, we have car stereos with Sirius and our iPods hardwired to the units, no FM modulators, no interference from other cars, it's excellent!

My Kenwoods the same way. Plus I have an audiovox home unit that I ought off Ebay used the month before Howard started on Sirius and havent had an issue with either.

The only time ive ever dealt with Sirius customer service besides unit activations was when my fathers unit (a cheap Xtac) that I bought him off ebay was stolen. I called Sirius to get it shut off and they sent me a brand new Stratus plus a card for free installation and all i paid was 9 dollars shipping.

Sucks to be you.

For stolen units I've often wondered if you can be contacted by Sirius if and when it's reactivated.
Do/will they?
And if not, why not?
tedeso
the thing to do is pay yearly and as for the units I have a 3 unit and they never give me problems. My oldest unit (purchased a year before howard started) screen is fading but still works. sportster 4 is awesome but I fear for the forward button since i dont listen to commercials
Bojive
I love Sirius. Two subscriptions. Never had a single problem with equipment, billing or programming. Amazing amount of entertainment for the $$$'s spent.
SHUA1973
it's a muslim thing dude. they think you are a terrorist.
SkateboardDude
I love Sirius and have never had any issues with units and if I did, I'd go to radio Shack or Walmart to replace it. Only gripes I have is when the King of All Commercials ahem I mean Hamptons howie starts with his stupid commercials or the fact they take a week off every three weeks. In both cases, Classic Rewind is the fix.

I didnt ask but they did send me a hard copy off all the info for the police report. Theyre pretty helpful. When I bought my first unit off Ebay and tried to activate it they wouldnt do it because it said it was owned by someone else. They put me on hold, called the person who thier records showed owned it to verify the sale and then activated it or me.
otherone4life
thanks for the heads up
SDListener
have you ever called customer service? I've had better service and more understandable people when I talk to a customer service rep from INDIA.
TheBlueprint
I do find it odd myself that they sometimes send me an email as a reminder that i need to pay again and sometimes they just take the money without any notice whatsoever.
Modane
I have had no problems with my xact XTR1s. :hw:

Not my experience at all....the person I got was not only helpful but cracked jokes while I was following her instructions...spoke flawless english as well..

I love how people think their bad experience is the norm and not just one isolated incident....you must be wonderful to do business with.

Abba sounds like an angry fuck who has a problem with any customer service rep. You know the kind that think they ALWAYS have to have an argument with customer service to get shit for free. I am willing to bet that in most cases it was your fault that Sirius "took" money from you.

i haven't had a problem with them....

My 2004 Sportster still works fine. Sure they double bill me each year when my sub is up for renewal - but one phone call fixes that.
EastBayLoon
My sportster has worked fine for 2 years.

When I thought it was fucked up they sent me a new one. that works fine too, free of charge.

I have had to buy severl antennas though....

Same here. I had one of the solder joints on my Starmate R power source come loose making it occasionally reset with a hard bump. I opened it, resoldered it in 2 seconds and it's been fine ever since. I use that unit AT LEAST 10 hours a day (all of Howard, wrap up and Bubba) and my wife uses the other about 3 hours a day. Both were bought at the same time ( Sept. 05) and neither have ever been replaced.

How long have you had them? I've had my Sportster Replay & Bookbox going on 2 years now & I haven't had really any problems other than the acquiring signal problem from time to time.

No dickface, I'm an angry fuck who hates when a company thinks that because they have my card on file they can simply take money as they see fit for no fuckin reason other than they feel like it.
My antennas keep burning out. Also, 2 car docks died, prolly from being in the sun alot.
MY original sportster hasn't been replaced yet, but the peripheral shit goes quick. I use mine alot too.
All I ask for is a courtesy call before they take my money.
Boudrot
normally i would be bullshit at a thread like this....because I COULDN"T DISAGREE MORE...SIRIUS IS THE MOST ULTIMATE SOURCE for radio listening...but i do happen to agree with the whole "thieving hands" in the money account thing... i dont like how they do that
Boudrot
very legit complaint
rogergrape
I don't have units. I just use the internet. If I had to spend 100 bucks every time that I needed a radio, I would not subscribe at all.

13 bucks a month and no hassle, that's it.
RCrumb
I had bought my Father a unit at full price plus a year of service.
He never used it so a few days short of the year being up, I called to cancel his service.
Of course they begged and begged me not to cancel, shoot I have 6 other Sirius contracts going and since my Dad wasn't using his, why pay for a 7th?
Then I receive a $75.00 "cancellation fee" on my credit card bill! WTF! I called and they said since I cancelled before the year was up there was a cancellation fee????? What kind of way to run a company is this? So I asked if I had waited a few more days there wouldn't have been a fee? They replied, yup.
I was livid! Said fuck it, cancel all 6 of my other radios then!
That got their attention.
I got transfered to some ass kisser who refunded my $75.00 plus I received 3 more months of service for free.
They really need to get their act straight though!
MetalliChris
Yeah, they have a lot of really crappy and fucked up loopholes. The mere fat that you can start your service via the internet but the only way to turn it off is shitty.

best way to go is an indash unit ( built into the radio)
Lvis
My second unit died the other day. It was a sportster. It would say aquiring signal all the time. I bought a replacement on ebay.. but if I couldn't have.. I'd probably be gone.

Its just too much money when you have to replace the radio and the boombox every year or two.

I've been with them since early 04 btw.

The fact that you need to replace your boombox when you change radios really sucks.
flglock
MY first unit was old a panasonic from 04 and it died in about 3months.....Then my wonderful wife got me a starmate for V-day in 06 and I have not had a single problem with it...LOVE sirius

But the automatic charges are BULLSHIT.....plain and simple. Sirius is the ONLY company I allow to autodeduct payments. Hope they dont pull some BS on me

I've had my sportster since Dec 2005. I use it every day and I take it with me everywhere in the boombox. I never had a problem with the equipment. Never had a problem with the service. I drop my radio once a week and it still works.

I'm looking forward to the sirius- sonos stuff.
cfr0628
Ive had my unit (sportster 4) for almost a year, no problems. Good customer service, reception, and sound quality. I love sirius. :D
