| I stopped for a coffee yesterday at a local convenience store, a guy started talking to me about what I was doing ( work related ), turns out he got back last August from 3 tours over in that shit hole, he took three hits during that time, moral of the story, his sentiments weren't that much different than the clip you just watched. he told me there were times they couldn't even get body bags for the dead. |

It is all fucking bullshit. I've said this same thing, last fucking year. Why the fuck are soldiers getting blowed-up on some god forsaken highway, on a patrol to no-fucking-where.
Then, when the IED does go off, the grunts get a pat on the back from the CO for getting the wounded out quick.

This whole sitation is fucked, from start to finish, top to bottom.
I feel for the soldiers who were given a shitty mission, I feel for the Iraqis who had this mess dumped on them and never asked for it, I feel bad for our Nation because we've just suffered ANOTHER Vietnam, as if one wasn't enough.
That poor SOB needs some serious help. We need to seriously get the fuck out of Iraq, because everyday we're there we make things worse. A solidier like this is going to do us much more harm than good. He'll end up killing some civilians for no reason or beating the shit out of someone on a 3 am house raid. |

He's OK, he just seriously pissed-off. I'd say he has a healthy attitude. I'd worry more about the gung-ho bunch. |

He has an interesting point about the conference call thing. How necessary is an in person meeting with the threat of IEDs so high. I guess the only counter-point I could think of would be that we have an interest in not looking afraid.
I think that argument would get pretty weak once I lost a friend to an IED though. |
