08-30-07 : Zolar, Mad Max, ilovesavanna, otto23, & JayFromBrooklyn
well, it's aways tough to put together a discussion when the show is on break bu tit will be even worse this time since we'd already discussed all of this weeks specials. What do ya want to talk about? Here's what I've got so far
FORCED RADIO FOR HTV
- I've heard some fans claim that Howard will sometimes push a visual segment that's not good radio for the sake of Howard TV. Do you ever feel this way? What bits do you feel Howard would not have done before he had a TV show? Does the TV show hurt the radio show?
RALPH FREE RADIO
- Howard is planning a special where you'll be able to hear Ralph on H100 & he'll be bleeped out on H101. Does he really bother the fans that much or is Howard reading too much into the email?
- What about Ralph annoys people? Is it the hand-me-downs that are pissing people off? (iPhone, Sam Simon's house)
We'll have Ralph in next week nso we might as well get this discussion out of the way before then.
QUIVER'S A DATE
- Robin & Jim have not set a date but they did talk for 20 minutes on the phone. Do you believe that he'd really like a date or is it a goof for the show?
- Robin seems to get upset every time the boys talk about Jim's oversized balls.
- Should the Howard 100 News cover the date with blow by blow details or are they cock blocking the deal?
- What's the perfect Benifer / Branjelina Hollywood name for this power couple?
MORE OR LESS
- Nicole Bass
- Ronnie Mund arguments
- Scott DePace
- Jessica Hahn phone calls
- queefing
- Straight Talk with John the Stutterer
- Gary interrupting to explain what Sal or Richard are trying to say
- Howard interrupting to recap Artie's stories
- no guest shows
- celebrity movie/book plug interviews
ASS KISSING PHONE CALLS
it's nice when the call isn't a bitchfest but are the I love you, Howard TV, Sirius, etc ass kissing calls just as bad?
LIVE READ COMMERCIALS
do they do the customer justice or do they just sound forced?
BILLY WEST SPOTLIGHT
they replayed the Billy West spotlight with new bonus material. Was it been there done that or or were you thrilled to catch these Billy moments again?
MAMMARY LANE
- everyone seems to love mammary lane. will you ever get tired of this format or should they do it as often as possible?
- what was your favorite clip?
LABOR DAY ALL REQUEST MUSIC SPECIAL
are you looking forward to the music special? did you vote for the top 101 songs?
ONLINE STREAM
when do you use the Sirius online stream?
RILEY
Is Riley wearing out his welcome with Howard?

SHOW SCHEDULE
THE SCHEDULE IS POSTED IN THE ROUNDTABLE FORUM
If you'd like to be on the show, follow the directions and let me know.
SHOW NOTES
Go straight to the super fan roundtable forum - www.TheFanShow.com
CALLING INTO THE SHOW: When calling into the show, there's no need to give shout outs to SFN or your friends on SFN. We don't have a ton of time so please don't waste any of it. We already have topics setup. Please be a good caller and respond to the topics. Thanks 1-888-STERN-101
GETTING ON THE SHOW: Each week I start a roundtable brainstorming thread where the fans help build our topics and a listening thread where people discuss the show while it's happening. if you'd like to do the show, get in there and participate. once you've been around for awhile ask to be on the show and pick a date. there's a schedule posted in every brainstorming thread.
GUESTS OF THE SHOW: The show airs from the Sirius studios in NYC Times Square. It's on the 36th floor of the McGraw Hill building on the corner of 49th & 6th in studio 21. Guests should be there at 6PM so we can do mic checks. The show goes live at 7PM. You can not bring any friends. our studio is very small and there's really no place for them. I'll need your full name in advance and you need to bring your ID for security. If I don't put you on the list and you don't have your ID, you will not be able to get in.
This is an office and you are expected to be on your best behavior. It's not some free for all party. You shouldn't do anything that you would do when stopping by the bank. You cannot bring alcohol, take off your clothes, make noise, or bother people. I know you are a Stern fan but we're not out at the bar. You need to be cool. Don't stop them and ask for an autograph or photo. Everytime one of you misbehaves, I get a new rule to follow.
You CAN NOT walk around Sirius. You will be escorted from the upstairs lobby to the studio and back out. Do not take it upon yourself to just walk around & check things out. Nobody is allowed to stop by other shows. DO NOT stop by Ferrall's studio under any circumstances even if you think it's OK. I've been told by management that it's not. If you'd like to be a guest on Ferrall, they need to put you on their guest list.
You may take photos in the studio but please do not take pictures in the halls or lobby.
DO NOT sign the wall.
All plugs must be approved in advance. If you are going to be on the show and you have something to plug, you need to let me know the day before. ANYONE WHO PLUGS A WEBSITE OR BUSINESS WITHOUT PERMISSION WILL NOT BE INVITED BACK. |

I wish they would replay the Intern Show, Miserable Men, etc. on Fridays too |

i would like to discuss the fact that Sal has more gay thoughts and actions then Richard.
example. The day that Sal put his cock in Richard's mouth, Richard was called the homo for having it in his mout.
Whe Sal is the real homo for doing it. Richard never asked for it to be in his mouth, Sal did it on his own. |

The Sal and Richard gay stuff is NOT FUNNY -- it's fucking disturbing, it really is. Fred ought to play those banjo plinks from "Deliverance" when they start that shit...
Backwoods red-clay-lube inbred sloping-forehead homosexual behavior... it's really wrong, I hate to hear that stuff.

Has Riley worn out his welcome with Howard?
or
Is Riley Martin going the way of Elegant Elliot Offen?
Elliot pushed Howard over the edge of being too difficult to deal with and now he's gone.
Riley seemed to touch a similar nerve with Howard last week during his tirade about his check etc.. In the past Howard would laugh this stuff off. Last week Howard seemed to have some genuine anger at Riley and Robin had to talk him down.

I really miss the Friday replay too but new live programming is always better than a replay. ya gotta keep the Bubba wrapup show. hell, I'd like to see more Bubba spinoff shows.
I have to find a spot for a roundtable replay. right now I think we're only sat @ midnight. before we were on fri afternoons we at least had a decent time slot over the weekend. |

Mutt, Scott the Engineer getting it up on the ass on pay per view played on Mammary Lane today. Fucking hilarious, I would love to hear the SFRT's take on this old bit....Scott was willing to take an ass buggering for two minutes for $250,000, too friggin' much. In one of the very first Wrap Up shows this issue came up and Scott tried to back pedal saying he hadn't agreed to it but the replay was clear, only his wife's intervention stopped this.
Love that guy with the thick Mexican accent on your show. "Scott he wirring to take cock in the ass..." |

John the Stutterer is the first new "listener" based show in quite a while.
Why don't they let more "regular" listeners to a show - Double A got his shot, King of All Blacks got his...
They could run a contest.
Put the show on Tuesdays nights, once a month, instead of the freakin' interns. |
|
|
| MrJeff2000 |
Can you talk about the UberSavFest this past weekend - I think people would want to hear about a large gathering of people who initially had nothing in common except that they were Howard Stern listeners.
Stern keeps on talking about his "community of listeners." The party was an actual EVENT featuring that community. |

at least we got mammary lane this week...with the intros...not too bad...
i'm also in for bringing back the sfrt replay...but that's a scheduling thing...so might just be wishful thinking for now...
i also think a caller driven show might work the best given the lack of fresh topics...that worked pretty good last time... |

has any further thought been given to the INTERNATIONAL STERN SUPERFAN ROUND TABLE?
The International listeners have been posting here ===> http://www.sternfannetwork.com/foru...threadid=280058
about it, is it something that you are looking at?
If you could, and it isn't too much hassle, could you post your response in the international thread? |

Ditto on that. It's so obvious and unavoidable. We can't pretend it's not there. I think it needs to be addressed by the fans. Don't get me wrong; I don't care to listen to a bitch session. I'd like to hear from everyone else what and why they think something is wrong or not wrong, and what if anything can be done. |

What if we were to address the growing amount of negative comments made on this site recently. When i listen to the show i find in funny and as entertaining as day one one on Sirius.
but when you read SFN you would thing the show was heading in the toilet. if you really read the posts and look at the posting history you will see that the same dozen or so people seem to be stirring up all the same negative kaka.
Thread after Thread getting started by the same posters, all of which are negative. Is it me or are some people trying to fester a feeling of dis-content. |

| Mutt, anyway you can get Will on the phone and ask about screening calls. I understand if he is told not to let negative calls go through because it drags down the show or whatever. But on the other side, these "positive" callers grind the show to a halt as well. It just appears as if these guys have nothing but a 5 minute plug for Howard TV. It's almost like when talk show hosts drink Coke on TV during a segment making sure people see it. One one hand, Howard makes it appear as a legit caller, on the other he is trying to plug HTV. Just curious as to the whole process and if he could let us in on some of the guidelines he has to deal with. |

I don't expect you to bring this up on air Mutt (since it's a dead issue - can't be resolved), but... many of us who listen to Mammary Lane can't help but compare it to today's Shows - which most of us agree, today's shows are not as crisp as they once were. Howard is becoming bland.

The Robin/Florentine date is better when its a live show.
Ralph has been done, but will always spark debate.
There is sooooooo much negativity on SFN recently... give some of the haters air-time to get their gripes off their chests. The SFRT tries to stay positive, and well they should, but this might be a good time to get some of the hate out in the open.

Dozen or so - you can't possibly be serious. MOST fans here agree that The Show peaked years ago and has been sliding down hill ever since.
And I'm a true Fan. I've been listening to Howard since he took on Debella in Philly. I listen to the entire show, everyday. And even though he is NOT as good as he once was, he's still by far the best thing on radio.
Mutt has provided Fans a place to not only praise but to criticize the Show we all love. |

Yes I am serious. And I think people should praise as well as criticize here. But I'm telling you, if you look at some of the most negative threads started you'll start to see most of the same guys starting them. Then if you look at their posting history you'll see them all over the place but still only negative comments. They'll jump from vacations, to beth, to robin to the hamptons.
Mutt is correct about the long summer thing, the show has always slowed down in the summer. i guess i am just bitching about all the bitching. |

| I myself think the show is more real now than ever. Listening to Mammary L and Spotlight makes me realize how much better the show is now.... nothins better than the natural comedy and conflict thats 10x better since the move to Sirius. That being said, its been a long summer and Howard is easing into retirement over this five year contract so we're gonna have to get used to it. |

please don't speak for MOST fans. try speaking for yourself. I speak for MOST fans and I can tell you that MOST of them do not feel this way. some do and before Howard came to Sirius there were lots of people thinking that. Once he made the move, almost all fans agree that the show has new life and better than ever. sure there are people upset about days off but very few people say the show has gone down hill. people praise how good it's been and tell their friends who don't have Sirius that they don't know what they are missing. |

I can tell ya from my experience with our show that we don't block negative calls and we get our fair share of you guys are great calls. I think people are such huge Stern fans that when they finally get thru after years of trying, there isn't much to say other than I love you howard. |

One of my friends who also listens said he heard that from somewhere. |
nope, I own SFN. Neither Howard or Sirius have made offers or shown any interest. we're just a fan site and with the shit that goes on here, I doubt they'd want to be officially associated with us. |

GL  |
it gets negative every time there's a vacation. they come out of the woodwork like roaches |

And I'm a true Fan. I've been listening to Howard since he took on Debella in Philly. I listen to the entire show, everyday. And even though he is NOT as good as he once was, he's still by far the best thing on radio.
Mutt has provided Fans a place to not only praise but to criticize the Show we all love. | .I agree with you...( and hopefully the constructive criticism/feedback will have some effect)...I've been a loyal fan/listener of 20yrs .WYSP-fm..(those yrs.and the last 3 on Terrestrial were Howards best!!!)...of course the show "changed"..when Howard brought Artie into the mix...it changed the dynamics of the show...it was no longer Howard bouncing off of Robin(and vice versa)...he brought in new younger writers...segment producers...Richard and Sal...it's the direction Howard wanted to move the show..to appeal to a younger audience..it was a more creative..intelligent...interesting and edgy show back then..it HAD to be.....the show lacks all of that on Sirius..it doesnt take alot of creative talent to call the same "hillbillies" on the phone or call public access TV/radio channels and ask the same predictable questions over and over again...how many ways to use "cunt" or "droppin Loads" in a sentence do we have to hear before it becomes boring???? it has become a "morning zoo" type show ..imo..what Howard has always been so critical of....there are days when he almost sounds "disconnected" from the show.....with Robins laugh becoming louder and more intense....interrupting Artie AND Howard...Arties long ..long...long..neverending stories (that are great the 1st few times)...until Howard cuts him off...the "scripted" fights...arguements..between the players that have become more and more "fake"...Howard lately has become a "referee" on the show...a moderator who moves the show along at a quick pace (keeping to the schedule)...and announces when the next break for commercial is...he sounds almost defeated....un-inspired.....somedays...not every day...is it is the age factor..? of course...is it because Howards strength was his "drive" to be #1?? in the ratings?? ..of course...on Sirius he could give a shit if anyones listening..."it's the SUBSCRIBERS Stupid"...that he needs to keep....and that is why you hear so much "whining" and "complaining"...after 18mos. on Sirius....we're not impressed with the show lately..thats all...I'm changing the channel more...Howard 101??? I just tune in to SFRT....maybe 15mins. of Jackie...20mins of Bubba...then I listen to music.....I would never cancel Sirius....it's on in our house 24/7 and in one of my cars....(even when Howard retires...I'm keeping Sirius)....
I think this week on SFRT...it's a good idea to take calls on any topic..since the show is on vacation...it was a great show when you took calls from the fans and did a Q&A show!!!!!
I'll be listening!!!! :hw: SFRT and The Wrap Up the two Best shows on Howard 100 and Howard 101!!!!! consistantly super shows!!!!!! IMO |

Understood Mutt. Different people find different things funny. It's a highly personal preference.
I'm not at all surprised by your response. |

First, i think the last few years at K-Rock were the absolute worst at times.
Howard was sooooo wrapped up in Bush and the FCC.... The show wasn't funny. It was just constant complaining from Howard about the "dump button" or what bit got chopped up. And All howard wanted to do was retire.
You cannot argue those two points.
Well, Howard gave the fans a choice, I can retire or go to a pay service. He chose the latter and WE the fans mad eour choices.
And, "In You Opinion", you feel the show sounds like a morning zoo show. I couldnt disagree more. The dynamic of the show is different.... and guess what, Howard has gotten older.
After I work for 30 years I am going to be less of what I was when i was 30 and fired up.
This aint rocket science. you and others have a delusional memory of what the show used to be vs. what it is now.
You can keep the Debella ref's and the Bellzar interviews and the constant clapping over chopped up bits and Leona Helmsly.
Ill take Sal and Richard and Ronnie and Artie.... cuase it is funny and that is what we got. |
