Its always fun to point out the little fumbles this phony makes
Give up your SUVs
Take a look in Edwards garage and what do you find???
SUVs!!!!
Ok, one is a hybrid Ford Escape SUV but if you ask us to sacrifice for fuel efficiency why have a hybrid SUV when there are regular cars out there that get better mileage than hybrid SUVs...and of course there are hybrid cars Edwards could have bought instead of the hybrid SUV.
The others arent hybrid. So Johnny boy, why are you asking us to sacrifice when you aren't sacrificing yourself? |

this is rediculous, so the point is that he should tote around his wife and kids in a small-mid size sedan hybrid? suvs have a lot more room than sedans, maybe he needs the room for his family. im not a john edwards fan, but to pick on the man over what kind of car he drives simply because he advocates people becoming more 'green' or whatever it is youre trying to prove is just a sheer witchhunt |

I had thought about making a joke that the next thing the right wing attack machine would look in would be Edward's garage. After the aerial views of his house, I expect the next will be his Netflix queue. Ha ha. Truth is better than fiction.
I like Edwards. I would vote for him. I think he is hapless, especially in the face of the professional muckrakers on the right. Who we have to thank for much of the ridiculous political antics we are now subjected to.
Congrats, CA-on helping the right wing take a shit on the political process. |

pushing for better fuel economy standards and telling people to give up their SUVs are two different things. One actually accomplishes something, the other is just words with no substance whatsoever. |

Here are a sampling of quotes
Mr Edwards said he believe Americans were "actually willing to sacrifice".
He said "one of the things they should be asked to do is drive more fuel efficient vehicles." When asked if this meant telling voters to give up their SUVs the former senator said "yes".

thanks for providing the quote and the articles.
let me start by saying the context in that quote sounds as if he would ask americans to do that if he were president. since he is not president yet, and lets be honest he probably wont ever make it, i dont see why you think he needs to give up his suv now?
shouldnt he wait to give up his suv when he makes the formal request for americans to do the same? thats when he should publicly give up his suv, not now just because he mentioned that he thinks americans should
anyway, your point is valid and if edwards decides not to give up his suv while asking america to do so, then what we have here is a democrat hypocrite |

ONE of his SUVs is a hybrid, not all of them
besides that theres plenty of regular cars that get better mileage than hybrid SUVs...or better yet since he wants us to get cars with better mileage why didnt he just go ahead and get a hybrid car and not a hybrid SUV |

Well, of course if he is elected, he will then travel in an armored limousine in a motorcade with other armored limousines and full sized SUV's with high performance engines. I wonder what the annual fuel budget is for the Presidential Motorcade? |

my point was that its silly to immediately think someone should drop their suv when he clearly isnt asking america to do that, yet. make sense? hes simply using that to act like hes more 'green' conscious than some of the other candidates and is saying that if he does become president, he will ask america to give up their suvs
to expect a man to do something hes not yet advocating seems like some people just want to make an example of him for the pure reason of discrediting him. there may be a lot of other things to discredit a presidential candidate, but resorting to out-of-context quoting and expectations based on such things is really just turning a non-issue into an issue
its threads like these that show why television ads for presidential campaigns are so effective. people become more obsessed with the mud-slinging between candidates rather than sitting down and looking at wether or not its true or justified |
