Just heard it on CNN. The guy is guilty as fuck, it'll be only a day or till his resignation.

No outrage? Imagine if it was you that was falsely arrested and you had a connection to catch. I in all likelihood would have assaulted the officer, I would have been so over the top filled with rage and anger, I can't imagine not losing it completely. Here this fuck is playing lawyer, calmly trying to explain his bizarre behavior.

Stick a fork in em, he's done. The amazing thing is the pompous asswipe didn't realize it right away.

Larry Craig is the typical republican. Nothing surprising here... Disgusting, yes. Revolting, yes... But not at all surprising coming from the repubs.

What? Your kidding right? That's one of the classic signs that someone is lying. Lack of outrage is a very good indicator he did exactly as he was charged.

He was also not mistaken as gay, he was charged with lewd behavior in a public place. I have nothing against gays but there is a small segment of the homosexual population that behaves worse than German Shepherds and engage in anonymous sex in public places. That behavior is to be condemned. There is nothing OK with that. If you wanna have sex, go get a fucking room.

i agree with the lack of outrage thing, im just saying that assaulting a police officer does more to discredit your opinion. you can be assertive and angry about the assumption without resorting to violence is all. and yes, i think he is gay, no one sits in an airport bathroom looking for 'lewd conduct' from a mens room that isnt gay

I've got this figured out.

This public explanation is not for the public... the entire world knows he's a faeg.

this shitty explanation is for his WIFE AND FAMILY.

I mean who the fuck else in the world could possibly believe this? apparently his wife if she stood next to him at the press conference.

doesnt that hold true for everyone who is caught being a closted homosexual? they always deny it at first, then after the divorce usually within the year, they come out as completely gay

I thought about this as well but only his hubris and incredible ego would allow him to go forward and deny the accusation. I think he was still under the impression that he was Senator Craig and he was going to get through this.

He'll probably come out of the closet in a few weeks or months and write a book.

OMG - I had written this off as a SFN joke when I saw it in GenChat. I did not even click it yet. Ha ha.

maybe he'll reveal the secret of Jeff Gannon.

They can really pin back the ears of republicans right now for blaming them for helping to create such an intolerance towards gay people that even a republican senator is terrified to admit his own sexuality.
NC-Stern-Mark
Maybe not, that is a bit too nuancey...

He's guilty of faggotry and lying while he talks of family values. Fuck him, practice what you preach.

I feel bad for his family though. I'm sure he's a hypocrite and guilty of this stuff, but the way everyone is piling on is getting a bit unseemly itself.

Also, it seems like a lot of "anti-hypocrite" statements about him are really just anti-gay. Its the safe way for "tolerant" libs to express homophobia, as long as it is couched as anti-hypocrisy.

But I will be the first to say if I ever see something like that about to go down around my son, I will:

1. get him safely to his mother and

2. kick the living shit out of the sick fuck.

We have a free enough country where you have plenty of opportunity to take care of this shit in private.

These guys must be adrenaline junkies or something.

Well you have to be careful about condemning anonymous sex in a public place without singling out gay men. It happens with heteros as well. It may seem that this so happens often with male homosexuals but I don't know if that is 100 percent the case. In any regard, that kind of behavior is absolutely repugnant. Especially the anonymous part.

At least the Governor of NJ was swooning when he was kissing his lover, Craig didn't even know the fucking guy! That's fucking repulsive!

I haven't paid much attention to this story

How exactly has everyone came to a complete conclusion to this?

Maybe there are things I haven't heard about but he got arrested because of he and the officer's foot touching? his bag was covering the front of the stall?

I got to be missing something. Every time I go to the bathroom at airports I put the bag right on the floor by the door and I haven't been arrested. Do they expect you to hold on to your bag while you take a dump?

he could have pled guilty because of the officers explanation of what will happen if he pleads guilty or not guilty. Just going back to the Michael Vick fiasco many 'legal experts' were all over the media talking about innocent people pleading guilty

like I said, haven't followed this much, but touching feet or having a bag in front of the door isn't like putting a sign on the stall saying " I Want Cock "

Either there is something I missed or something that hasn't been published yet and he likes the cock, or he panicked and doesn't like the cock

Barney is a single, liberal Mac Daddy and everybody knew it. Craig is a married, conservative stiff that voted against gay marriage and preached family values.

It's that hypocrisy thingy that sticks in people's craw, no one cares what people stick in their asses unless they take pictures. :)
erik28com
David Vitter was also caught commiting a sex crime (paid for prostitutes) but conservatives were quiet about it.

Reason: Either it was because he commited a heterosexual crime or because in that state a democratic governor would have picked a democratic replacement.

So to the conservatives that wanna pretend you're taking a principled stand on this guy: bullshit. I'm tired of these "value" voters pretending they are anything more then some authoritarian cult. Next time some democrat gets involved in a sex scandal and they beat their breasts and shout out about honor do us all a favor: shut the fuck up and jump off the nearest bridge please.
NC-Stern-Mark
News reports are saying Craig will resign today.

Look for the book deal in a couple months. :)

Sen. Larry Craig's problem isn't sexual confusion; it's hypocrisy -- an editorial
Friday, August 31, 2007

Embattled Idaho Sen. Larry Craig is doing what many of the high and mighty do when they can't explain their conduct: blaming the media. In particular, his state's largest daily newspaper, the Idaho Statesman of Boise.

Reporters at the Statesman spent months pursuing persistent rumors about Craig's sexual orientation before they sat down with the senator for an interview in May. Craig strongly denied any suggestion of a double life and insisted, in words similar to those he used this week, "I am not gay, and I never have been." The paper's editors properly decided that since no one had gone on the record accusing the senator of homosexual activity -- their strongest source, a man who claimed he had sex with Craig at Washington's Union Station, refused to let his name be used in print -- they had nothing to publish.

Nevertheless, Craig now says that because the paper had "relentlessly and viciously harassed" him, he panicked when he was arrested June 11 for allegedly importuning an undercover policeman in a restroom at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. To put the matter to rest, Craig says, he pleaded guilty to a single count of disorderly conduct -- a decision he did not share with his wife, his attorneys, his staff or his Senate colleagues until a story about the case appeared Monday on the Web site of the Capitol Hill newspaper, Roll Call.

Precisely what happened in that airport restroom may never be known, but Craig's account of what happened afterward makes no sense. Two months elapsed between his arrest and his plea. He made at least one subsequent trip to Minnesota to discuss the case with police. That hardly indicates a rushed decision. Now, he claims he didn't really understand what his plea entailed -- an odd defense for someone who has been making laws for 32 years, and who told the judge that he fully understood the charges and proceedings.

Craig's wife stood by his side in Boise on Tuesday, but few others have. Mitt Romney immediately dumped Craig as a co-chair of his presidential campaign. Senate GOP leaders have asked for an ethics probe and at least two colleagues have counseled resignation. Idaho Republican leaders started the week wondering whether Craig would seek a fourth term; now they just hope he goes quickly and quietly.

The problem for Craig is not the Statesman. Nor, if the allegations against him are true, is it human weakness or sexual confusion. It's hypocrisy. Romney wanted Craig's support because the senator was among the most rigid "family values" conservatives. He taunted President Clinton as a "naughty boy" and voted to remove him from office. He railed against supporters of gay marriage.

It isn't Craig's "wide stance" that has put his career in jeopardy. It's the potentially very wide divide between the values he has championed and the life he has led.

Disowning Senator Craig

August 31, 2007
Editorial

The Republican Party is in quite a rush to keelhaul Senator Larry Craig for his run-in with the vice squad in an airport men’s room. Disclosure of the senator’s guilty plea to disorderly conduct set off a frenzy to demand an investigation by the Senate’s somnolent Ethics Committee and to strip Mr. Craig of his committee seniority. Some of the senator’s peers simply demanded that he resign.

No similar leadership chorus for judgment has been heard about any number of other scandalous revelations on the party’s plate.

There’s the F.B.I.’s inquiry into whether Senator Ted Stevens swung a quid-pro-quo deal for a government contractor who eventually renovated his Alaska home. There’s also Senator David Vitter’s presence on the client list of a Washington brothel. Mr. Vitter, a social conservative, pleaded guilty to “sin” (heterosexual) and no leadership call ensued for a thorough in-house ethics inquiry. Certainly, no Republican called for the resignation of Mr. Vitter, who comes from Louisiana, which has a Democratic governor who would then replace him. Mr. Craig is from a safe state with a Republican governor.

Mr. Craig’s explanation of his behavior may make little sense to the average voter trying to fathom how he was taken in by a police sting against lewd public behavior. The senator quietly copped a disorderly conduct plea after taking two months to consider his arrest and his options. Once it hit the media, he claimed his judgment was clouded but his heterosexuality unblemished.

Being stupid as a member of Congress is hardly a reason to be ridden on a rail from Washington. But Republican presidential campaigners are urging Mr. Craig to resign fast as a swift boat. One senator offered the ultimate rebuff between political pros by returning Mr. Craig’s campaign donation.

Underlying the hurry to disown the senator, of course, is the party’s brutal agenda of trumpeting the gay-marriage issue. To the extent Senator Craig, a stalwart in the family values caucus, might morph into a blatant hypocrite before the voters’ eyes, he reflects on the party’s record in demonizing homosexuality. The rush to cast him out betrays the party’s intolerance, which is on display for the public in all of its ugliness. But it also betrays their political uneasiness as the next election approaches.

He was a naughty boy...a very dirty naughty boy

Craig circa 1999

" Craig: Well, I don’t know where the Senate’s going to be on that issue of an up or down vote on impeachment, but I will tell you that the Senate certainly can bring about a censure resolution and it’s a slap on the wrist. It’s a, bad boy, Bill Clinton. You’re a naughty boy. The American people already know that Bill Clinton is a bad boy, a naughty boy.

I’m going to speak out for the citizens of my state, who in the majority think that Bill Clinton is probably even a nasty, bad, naughty boy."
