I really haven't looked at Thompson yet, it's just toooooo fucking early for this bullshit.
I don't know what his ties are to the neocons but he has said some things that lead me to believe he is going to court those voters. The GOP is between a rock and a hard place. How do you fold up both the neo-cons and the disillusioned republicans in the same campaign...
Maybe that's why McCain looks contradictory because you almost have to be?
And the answer to my own question is fear. They'll try to scare the hell out of the disillusioned republicans so they stay in the GOP. |

I understand what you're saying here, but in your next statement you say that you haven't even looked at Thompson and what he stands for yet.
I'm not meaning to use you as an example, because I like you, however, that attitude of saying that he is a frontrunner to you, just because he is a frontrunner in the mainstream media and pop culture is what is wrong with this country. (that was waayy too many commas)
Again, I don't mean to criticize you, but it's just representative of the greater problem with American politics which is that once the populous decides who the "sexy" candidate is, even intelligent people will jump on the bandwagon simply to not be left behind.
It's a social thing. Unfortunately, sociological phenomenons are as frustrating to think about as they are difficult to identify and explain. |

I don't know much about Thompson, either. He strikes me as someone centered between Reagan and the wingnuts that are running the White House now.

Calm down dude, no one anointed Thompson, he's simply running for the job.
One reason I think he is polling while having not even officially entered the race is name recognition, outsider status and likability.
You know, the same things that helped President Clinton get elected the first time.

So far my prediction has come half true and there still over a year to go. Ive been saying for a year now that Nov 2008 it will be Thompson Vs Gore. An actor vs and Academy award winner. Our country cracks me up.
Id never vote for him but at least for the first time in history we would have a bangable first lady. |
