Reported on the local sports talk station: Giants have informed Bonds they will not bring him back next season. News conference at 5pm pst.

Hey Yankees fans: Enjoy having Bonds as your DH next season! :hw:

Bye Barry, have fun in the American League.

The San Francisco Giants won't be bringing back Barry Bonds for one more season.

Bonds won't return with the Giants for 2008, the slugger wrote on his Web site Friday.

Bonds, 43, said on the site that he was told Thursday by owner Peter McGowan the team would not be re-signing him despite his performance having "far exceeded any expectations the Giants had."

"Although I am disappointed, I've always said baseball is a business -- and I respect their decision," Bonds said on the site. "However, I am saddened and upset that I was not given an earlier opportunity to properly say goodbye to you, my fans, and celebrate with the city throughout the season as I truly believe this was not a last minute decision by the Giants, but one that was made some time ago."

Bonds' career as a Giant ends after 15 seasons, the last of which he surpassed Hank Aaron for the all-time home run record. He sat at 762 entering the Giants' Friday night game against the visiting Reds.

Bonds, who received a $15.8 million, one-year contract this season, has been out since Saturday with a sprained big right toe, though he was expected to play in the four-game series with Cincinnati, which began Thursday.

The Giants host the Padres for a three-game set before closing 2008 on the road with three games against the Dodgers.

"I would have loved nothing more than to retire as a Giant in the place where I call home and have shared so many momentous moments with all of you, but there is more baseball in me and I plan on continuing my career," Bonds said. "My quest for a World Series ring continues."

Well, we don't hear it here and thats where it matters. Oakland can't pay him and won't. You're wrong and Ray Ratto said the same thing just now on ESPN. He's done in the Bay Area.

and which shows have you heard it? If there are so many, of course you could name a few....

Plus, Lew Wolf is building TWO stadiums in the Bay Area and will not spend $20 Million on a over the hill player. The money is needed elsewhere. East coasters don't know what the fuck is going on out here.
Hugomarink
He'd be a great pick-up for the Yankees or Red Sox. Possibly the Angels as well.
specialkt
is bonds interested in picking up his whole family and moving to the east coast? he'll probably stay somewhere in california.

ya know what you are right..I heard that he would be wanting to stay on the west-coast..and I heard this on Mike and the Maddog..Chris Russo who is a huge Giants fan made the statement on more then one occasion
WillowGlen
He lives in San Diego. So my guess is Anaheim or retirement with no third option.

Anyone thinking Oakland would sign him should shut up because they are completely clueless and talking out their ass.

Only if they could move Beverly Hills with them.
Hugomarink
Can the Giants sign A-Rod in the off-season? They must have their eye on somebody big to finally let go of Bonds.

Who the fuck cares? Does he know about the A's? Nope, and that's the team you are talking about. What inside A's info does he get? What the fuck would a Giants fan know about the A's all the way from NY? Your argument is shit and has many flaws that I can rip apart or distort as well as you.

What? That you are totally wrong about the issue and won't admit it. That must hurt.

That's what I think and I believe they've probably spoken to him already through various channels and have a good indication that he's willing to come to SF. Without Bonds the Giants are going to need somebody exciting to fill the seats.

One show does not equate to "tons", and the west coast is not only in Oakland. Nowhere do you reaffirm the original post that he is going to the A's with your "facts".

If that's the case, a lot of guys will probably retire and we'll see even more previously productive players' stats drop off the charts.
