I'm tempted to test it out by leaving it in overnight.

The wife says she'll kill me if I need to get a new battery though.

She has no sense of adventure

My boss leaves his cell phone charger plugged in all of the time in his truck so maybe it could be left plugged in. My thinking is if it is plugged into the car but not plugged into the radio maybe it isn't using any power at all until it is plugged into something else :dontknow:

maybe someone who is either single or not afraid of his wife can try this out for us. :p

you don't use the cigarette lighter then, right?

yours works like a regular stock radio then I'd guess.

I'm hardwirng mine into my next car, but the 95 Safari could die any day, not spending any cash on the piece off poo that isn't necessary

I just cut the cig lighter adapter off and ran the power from the fuse box and a ground

I was going to respond yesterday but was too lazy. Anyway I can keep mine plugged in all the time it doesn't matter. Some vehicles ALWAYS send power to the cigarette lighter jack and some don't. If it does send power even when your key isn't in the ignition then turn your radio off. If the power to the cigarette lighter goes off when you remove your key then no worries at all. It won't run the battery down.

Some vehicles have two or more cigarette lighter adapters. And a lot of times on those one of the lighters has constant power which is nice when you need to charge something when you are out of your car.

Hope that helps.

I keep mine plugged in all the time. As long as you don't have your Sirius turned on your battery should be fine.

I leave mine on and plugged in while I am at work, sometime 8+ hours, my Explorer starts everytime without hesitation. Dosen't seem to drain the battery at all. The radio get hot though, not hot enough to melt, but hot to the touch. Oh the radio is the Starmate Replay. And the more I plug it in and unplug it, the worse the connections get, the power is already really loose. I'll be trying to resolder the connections before too long. One day soon it's probably not going to work at all.

I usually unplug it, only because Sirius recommends we do so.

I have accidentally left mine plugged in all weekend, without any troubles.

Only because mine is plugged into a splitter with my radar detector.

The splitter has an LED on it which doesn't go off when plugged in.
