I have a lifetime subscription and an annual subscription to Sirius. My annual sub payment was due on Sept. 1st. I am deciding whether or not to keep it and therefore have not made payment. Sirius has now frozen my lifetime account and will not let me listen online until I resolve my annual subscription. So, they will not let me listen to an account that I have already paid for. Is this legal? It is certainly unethical and BAD business. Any thoughts on this one. I'm stunned.
Tig Wizard
Which one is the master account? Maybe the annual is the master.
shnipple
No, lifetime is the master. They are routinely canceling all if you owe on one, it needs to be addressed by the suits.

that does seem crazy, unless you just let the payment lapse. you should have called and cancelled the other subscription before the payment became due.
TripleDigitRide
That is 100% retarded. If it's paid, it's paid. A secondary account should not affect your primary. Not only that, but if you didn't pay for your annual subscription, they should have simply shut it off.

I would raise hell like they've never seen.

********EDIT*******

I called Sirius myself to question these practices. They told me that if you would call to cancel the annual subscription, you wouldn't be having this trouble. Even though there are 2 subscriptions, it's all on the same account. Because they are on the same account, all subscriptions get shut off. They don;t put a hold on subscriptions, just accounts.

They feel that if you have the equiptment, you should have it activated, but if you choose not to keep the service you must let them know. If you choose not to let them know you want to cancel, they will attempt to collect the payment, and if it doesn;t go through, it may be sent to collections.

There was another thread but the person had an expired card. When Sirius couldn't bill the account, they also froze the paid lifetime - BULLSHIT!!

File a complaint with your state's Attorney General - CT has this guy, Richard Blumenthal who doesn't go for this type of bullshit from businesses.
kali
so, let me get this striaght:

you decide to NOT PAY on a sub

without respectfully informing Sirius that you wish to stop accepting service to ONE sub you contracted to have.

and NOW you are surprised because they aren't letting you rip them off???

I'm never doing business with you

Yer fucked and they DO have a right to do that. If both accounts are under the same name/ssn et cetera, they can suspend all of your accounts until all of them are in good standing.

edit: And the whole master/sub arguement doesn't matter.

i've had similiar issues. i wish they had better customer support and recognized those of us the put up big $$ without ever knowing what the product would be like - I think life timers should get the premium stream package as well. Stupid corporate america
jtheweirdo
Waaaa I didn't pay my bill and now I am having a problem with my account.

And you are surprised at this? Since I pay my bills, I don't have these issues, must suck being a loser that doesn't pay their fucking bills.
TargzisianMike
You've got to be kidding me.

Shutting down a subscription paid for is like the bank repossessing the 57 Chevy paid for in 1960 that you have in the garage simply because you were late on the payments on your 06 Silverado.

After all, they are both in your name, registered to you, both are Chevys, and one is completely paid for.

get real please. If the sub is due nd late, they can send the signal to cut off the offending reciever.

Your analogy is flawed. If your 06 Silverado was being financed through a refinance of your 57 Chevy loan, then your analogy would make fit the situation.

I just went through the same thing this morning. I have a starmate replay (master account) and a Stiletto as a second radio.

I tried to log in to listen online this morning and I received a message saying I needed to call customer service. I did, and found out my 2 year plan on my maser account had expired.

I told the lady I wasn't sure I wanted to re-up and was considering canceling. She transfered me to another rep who offered to put me on a month to month subscription and offered me a few months free to start it off.

I asked him how much longer I had on my secondary account. He said it was good until 8/08 so I asked him to transfer the subscription from the stiletto to the starmate and he did it no questions asked. FINALLY, I RECEIVED GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

I had to recreate my online listening account but it was worth it. Now I can still have the "In Car" radio and the online listening ability while I wait to see if the merge happens.

I never use the Stilleto any way, so its no loss to me. WIN WIN!!

Good luck to you!

Moral of the story. Pay your bills. If you dont want the sub, cancel it, dont go into default and arrears.

They dont want you as a customer - do what they want and cancel.
mikethespike
So the answer seems to be: bring the sub account back up to fully-paid status and THEN cancel?
