One of my republican friends was really mad about Obama saying something about how he supported a form of sex ed for younger kids that would help them to recognize forms of molestation and sexual abuse...
Look it's really sad that we have to teach kids about sex at such an early age but look at the media... look at the world around you... you live in a fucking bubble if you think they aren't bombarded by it every day.
So you can live in denial and pretend they're not gonna hear about it on tv or on the playground or from the dirty kids at school but they are... so you might as well tell them the truth about it straight out and get on with your life.
I have a daughter who's in 3rd grade and she came home asking what "gay" meant over 2 years ago... we explained it to her and got on with our lives. |

If you watched the debate and how they answered... they didn't say that it should be mandatory to read this book in school or anything... just that they try to teach their kids tolerance of all types of people at an early age...

I can understand your concern , especially if your gay. I don't think this should be an issue in a second grade class. I don't think second graders are mature enough to be taught this kind of stuff, and if it absolutly needs to be, then that kids family can make that choice... |

Most times the schools have to teach sex ed (perhaps even homosexuality) and things like drug education to students because the "parents" are unwilling or unable to. |

About a year ago my son was to go to the birthday party of a kid from a gay household. Before he went I asked him (8 at the time) if he knew what gay was and if he knew that his friends parents were gay. He told me sure it just means that Josh has two dads. What issue? |

Unfortunately, schools are sometimes put in the position of doing things that are traditionally the duties of the parent. It's a shame because, frankly, I don't know that many teachers whose opinions I have a great deal of respect for.
But, parents just seem to bury their heads in the sand and pretend that "uncomfortable" things just don't exist. The schools have to pick up the slack and, frankly, they don't always do the best thing.
This is the fault of the parents for not doing their jobs and raising their kids. |

C'mon, Stoney. Homosexuality is as normal as heterosexuality. Admittedly, there are a lot more straight people in the world than gay people, it doesn't mean gays are mentally ill.

In the grand scheme of things homosexuality is a minor thing. It's not something that needs to be dealt with, like schizophrenia does, but as we move along in our medical advances I'm sure the gene that creates schizophrenia will be dealt with and while they are there something tells me the minor mental illness of homosexuality will also be dealt with. It is an abnormality. |

The Left is in constant evolution when it comes to this society. Although I have failed to see even one good thing that has ever come from the Left. Not one. In fact only horrors be there.
The destruction of the family has been quite a project for the Left for at least 40 years now. They have succeeded in destroying the African-American families. Not quite satisfied with that they continue to assault the rest of American families. It does take a village and the Lefts Public Housing villages have been quite a success at raising a hellish generation of misfits. Misfits who then go on to fill the prisons. Then of course the Left complains of discrimination because their "village" has so many incarcerated. |
