I just got the C.Crane Digital FM Transmittter from C.Crane
The C.Crane Digital FM Transmittter is used for transmitting any audio to any FM Receiver without wires. From MP3 Player, Streaming audio, CD Player or Satellite Radio. To a Car Radio, Home Stereo or Portable Radio.
As you know the FCC told Sirius to turn down the transmitters in their units.
My original Sirius Unit had a very good Transmitter. The FCC cracked down on Sirius and told them to turn down their newer units. My new unit the Stratus can't broadcast worth a **it to any radio in my apartment.
I am using my Transmitter to transmit my Sirius Radio to my radio's in my bathroom, kitchen, bedroom or Stereo Receiver. I also plug the Transmitter into my Computer to hear music that I have downloaded.
The Transmitter is also good if you can't get reception from your Home Antenna. Just plug this into your Computer's 1/8" Headphone outlet and you can get sound from your Sirius Unit to any radio or FM Receiver.
This Transmitter can be used in any vehicle but you need to get the vehicle kit.

Come with a RCA Line Out and AC Adapter.

One good thing about the C.Crane Digital FM Transmittter is that the transmitter output to your listening device can be turned up.
I did this so I could hear my Sirius Radio in my Bathroom, Bedroom and Kitchen.
First step is remove the 3 screws on the back of the Transmitter. There are 2 behind the rubber feet and one in the Battery Compartment.

I used a small flat blade screwdriver to remove the rubber feet.

Use a small Philips Screwdriver to remove the 3 screws.

When you remove the rear cover be careful of the Input Level Control Button. The Button sticks out.
You need to located the Variable Resistor to turn up the signal.

This is the Variable Resistor.

Use a Small Philips Screwdriver to turn up the Variable Resistor. Turn clockwise to turn it up. I turned mine all the way. Factory setting isabout half way.

Go in reverse order to close. |

The only thing I can think of maybe no antenna is causing the problem.
I have a Sirius Direct Adapter, this one. The adapter needs to plug into your car radio then the car antenna plugs into the adapter.
Before I used the adapter all I could hear was static and noise, no Sirius stations. Now everything comes in very clear with no static or noise. |

I don't have any "additional" transmitters because I have an original radio unit with the powerful transmitter. HOWEVER I did find this useful in case my radio shits the bed and I need a new one.
I have read in other threads you can do something very similar with the actual Sirius radio units.
Thanks edog! |

Ahhh, Now I get it. I didn't know the FCC told Sirius to turn them down. This explains the issue I was having.
I exchanged my older (Sportster Replay) unit for a newer one, becuse of some issues I was having. When I hooked up the newer unit, I quickly realized it wouldn't transmit on the same FM channels as my old one. As a matter of fact, it would only transmit on very few channels.
I'm sure there is a way to turn up the transmitting power, much like they do with CB radios. I'll find someone. |
