crap. Seriously though the thing won't turn on. I hit power the Sirius Logo pops up and it turns itself OFF then on then off.

Now i have to deal with the loser Xact people again.

Thank you for reading my pain.

Sucks. That happened to me once with my XACT.

I wonder if they have a little program or timer in there, that kills it after a certain period so you have to pay for another one?
Boyo
I hear that a lot about the radios....I listen online so I never have to deal with that radio...
D12
well i told them and they replaced it for free, although i had to pay the shipping costs, cough $8, so it wasn't bad
JoeyBoots
ive had my audiovox boombox with detachable radio for the car going on two years now and ive had no problems.....i guess with so many radios out there that there has to be some defects here and there....sorry for your loss....my condolences. :hathair:

Damn! That's a good deal. I had to pay 40 or 75 bucks (can't remember which) for "repair costs". When I got it back it was a whole new unit so I didn't care so much anymore.
Batwings
My S150 did that. I didn't buy another one.

Same thing happened to me. The xact service people SUCK. I figured out it was the power cord. I've bought two in the past two years. That may be the problem. Twenty bucks for the cord might be better then trying to send the whole package back or buying a new one. Just a thought.
JDsHoot
My Xact did the same thing. Bought a different one.

I'm still using one of the old Starmate Replays and have been holding my breath fearing it'll crap out on me but so far it's been solid.

My Streamer replay that I've had since Dec 05 has been messing up on me lately, not going past the opening screen but I just didn't use it for a few days and it seems to be working out. I planned on getting a new radio if the merger goes through, but looks like I'll need to get one regardless.

It's Xact equipment. I had Xact. It crapped out after a year. In that year I had to buy 4 car antenna's. Get the Sirius equipment.

I've had my sirius unit (audiovox) for almost 2 years now and no problems. Had to replace my car antenna once but that was because I never really installed it into my car the right way, had the wires running in the car loose.

Guess I'm just lucky.

My Starmate is working fine but a dude I work with has had 2 go up.

I got his boombox :)

Turn your radio off now! It's going to have a heart attack!

My Starmate crapped out on me a couple weeks ago. I want to throw it away and buy a new home unit. Will Sirius move my subscription to the new radio or will they charge me for an additional subscription?

my first Starmate Replay broke where the power connection is soldered to the mainboard.

I got it replaced after too long a time, and this one I now just leave connected in the vehicle to reduce wear and tear of the cable connectors.

other than that its solid.

Sirius should just transfer it over.

my original sportster burned out and i switched to the original starmate replay that a friend had gotten as a gift and gave to me (i was going to hook it up in my wife's car as a second reciever...glad i didn't)

than of course my car was broken into and the only thing they took was the sirius radio. fuckers.

now i've got the starmate 4...i hate it because the FM transmitter isn't as good but what are you gonna do? :dontknow:

That happened to my Starmate but I repaired it myself. I suspect that over
half the problems with those units are related to the power receptacle. It
is very flimsy so when I fixed mine, I beefed it up as much as I could get
away with given the tight position on the circuit board and it's been
working great for over a year.

I also soldered a short length of wire to the FM Modulator loop antenna and extended
the range quite a bit. (use around 30" for best effect) Now all the radios in the entire
house can pick up the signal and overcome co-channel interference from the
crowded FM dial here.

As for people who have cut outs and reception problems: If you have the mobile antenna,
try using it instead. I've found that mine works better with the smaller mobile one
because, while it's not as big or convenient as the home model, it has a preamplifier
that gets slightly better signal boost if you have a poor view of the sky. You may
have to angle it a bit differently and move it around to score good reception, but
it gives me way more consistent reception than the home one, even when it
clouds up and rains. I get less dropouts due to the microwave oven, too.

My Streamer Replay GTR is doing the same exact thing (going to the logo screen, sometimes staying on it and sometimes proceeding to the channels).

I'm waiting to see what happens with the merger and with Bubba before making a move to buy another unit.

I had the same problem with Xact products. My very first Sirius unit was an Xact XR1 and it burnt out after 7 months. I sent it to them with the warranty info and 6 weeks later STILL did not have my unit back. They told me on the phone that because I did not send in the remote with it, they would not send back my XR1 unless I paid $2.50 in handling fees !??!!??
So, I gave them my credit card number and they told me it would be 7 - 10 days for my card to process!!
So, after 7 weeks, I got a new unit and guess what....it burned out in less than 3 months. Another call to Xact and I was told the warranty is only good on the original item, not the replacement! I went to Radio Shack and bought the Starmate 3 and it it has been very good to me.

I called up to cancel my sub and they offered me a free radio and a boombox. I guess I'll stick with them. I've been with sirius since 04, so thats probably why. But I have to say I'm not a big supporter of them anymore and no longer talk it up to friends.

The radios seem to last 18 months or so.. then you have to replace them and that's a pain in the ass. It seems to me almost no thought went into the radios... poor quality, having to get a new boombox for each unit, etc.

The same thing happened with mine today, it's the same one too (xact boombox) it was the second time this year that this happened (had it replaced the first time).
So, I did decided to cancel, they offered me a new radio but I declined.

My Starmate Replay (2nd one) has no display panel left. I blindly thumb through stations trying to find whatever I'm looking for. Since it's my second unit, it has the shitty FM transmitter unlike the first one, so I have to use a cassette adapter in my Lexus just to get sound  I tried buying a used unit off from ebay but it was DOA with an "aquiring signal" warning that never went away. The new Starmates aren't compatible with any of the older connectors and wiring.
Sirius hardware really sucks. Thanks for letting me vent

my sirius want pick up as good as my XM does.
