Hello All....Im officially battling with Sirius Customer service over the phone.....heres whats going on...
I signed up for Sirius about 4 weeks before howard got there....i bought the S-50....about 8 months deep my S-50 craps out....call customer service and they send me a new S-50 FREE of charge (sweet)..its now been about 14 months with the new S-50 and BAM yesterday it goes out again....I call customer service and they run me through the fucking gamet of things to do...i must of spent approx 4 hours off an on downloading, uploading, adding porgrams, deleting programs, holding 'reset' buttons on my S-50, getting transfered, etc...and have NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT.....MY S 50 IS STILL BROKE!!!
the last 'tech' guy i spoke with gave me the dirt...he says the S-50 was built to fail...!!!! he estimates a high amount of the S-50's were designed to only last approx a year or so.....then people just go out and buy new ones!
My dilema...i just dropped $400 bucks for the lifetime sub, which is linked to my S-50...and if you know anything about the lifetime sub there are only limited times you can transfer the sub to another unit and it costs 75 bucks!
So my latest conversation with Sirius they want to send me a S-50 for free, but i pay shipping, and I move on.....MY PROBLEM.....the S-50 will last me about a year, die, then I will be doing this ALL OVER AGAIN...PLUS i will eat away at my 3 transfer limit...at this rate I will be on my 3rd transfer within 3 years!
What im hoping to do is get a Stilitto 100 sent out for free instead of the S-50....the battle is on pause as I told them I was to pissed to speak to them and will be calling back....
What should I do....anyone here had similiar expirences? Anyone have the Stiletto 100? If so, how do you like it??
THE BATTLE IS ON! I WILL WIN!!! |

| Whats the price difference on the S-50 compared to the Stiletto 100? Maybe they'd go for it if you offered to pay 1/2 of the difference between the two units. |

| Try the Sirius Talk Forum. After reading in there equipment is a huge issue, most of the radio's only seem to last a max two years. Everyone says good things about the Stilletto 100, but they aren't going to give you one for free, especially if they are offering to replace your old one. |

| S-50? Those things were always crap. Just buy a stiletto and move on. |

I meant what does the S50 sell for direct from Sirius. If S50's are as shitty as you say they are you may have to pony up 1/2 the difference or all the difference. |

You have valid concerns and facts to back up your request for a new Stiletto. Stick with it and don't let them get the better of you. Make sure you also document with dates and details a timeline of the issues (time and money spent) on attempting to resolve the issue. It sounds like you went through all levels of helpdesk support. And if they're helpdesk is solid then every call is monitored and documents with a ticket of the issue/cause/resolution. Remind them that you bought in good faith a lifetime subscription and, based on advertisements, the S-50 being the best thing around.
Good luck! |

| I have to replace my XTR1 about once every 12 months because they burn out...They are an excellent unit while they work & they used to only cost $40 for a replacement...now that they are so old I saw that TSS is selling them for $70 now. But since it's a great unit & cheaper than replacing all my old stuff I just buy a new (at least new/unused) unit every year & this one is my 4th. |

| About 4 months ago my s50 crapped out after about 3 months of light use. At the time when i sent mine in to the warranty dept, they were planning on sending me a replacement s-50 , i guess at the time they didnt have any s-50s to replace mine with, so they sent me a stiletto 100 and car kit to replace it for no additional charge. I got lucky. I would send in your s-50 for them to replace it, who knows you may get lucky. |

Thats odd that they wouldn't let you swap units since they are basically the same price. |

Round one Sirius wins...kinda...
After speaking with many Sirius staff over the phone i was offered either a S-50 for free or a Stiletto 100 for $125...
My goal is to get the Stiletto for about $20 (the price difference between the 2 systems on Sirius.com)
I was asked to email customercare@sirius.com
I will keep you posted on my status...any other pieces of advice? |

| Sounds unfortunate. I have one of the original Sportster radios, and after two years it's still going strong. |

You want everyone to believe that a tech guy, out of the goodness of his heart, just told you something that would be deadly to a company if it became public knowledge? Not to mention that since these service calls are recorded, this guy must not like his job very much.
It's sad that you feel the need to garner anonymous message board support for your little crisis by jumping on the "customer service sucks" bandwagon.
I've got an idea, call Al Sharpton and tell him Sirius Customer Service is violating your civil rights. |

OK RETARD....it wasnt the 'last' guy i spoke with..it was one of the many guys i spoke with..actually it was more then one...secondly, by me saying it was 'built to fail' i didnt mean Sirius purposly built it to fail...BUT..they way it was designed its does crap out after about a year or so...and YES the one guy i spoke with who gave me most of the dirt sounded like he has been there for a bit to long and handeled this exact same call...as a consumer of Sirius he sounded pissed off with the amount of SHIT some of there products go through and how Sirius allows the staff to handle it.....
as stated...i will keep u posted on my status....i have since emailed Sirius and should have a response within 24 to 48 hours |
