Please excuse me if this thread is misplaced here but since Ron Paul is spoken about virtually every time Tucker is on the show, and he has been getting a lot of love from the guys, I thought it would be worth posting here. There is no way the main-stream media will be able to avoid mentioning Ron Paul now. :D |

I just started reading up on Ron Paul, and watching youtube vids of him. I sure am pulling for him. I wish we had a guy like that to vote for up here.
I really hope that for the good of America, he gets in. I used to think I hated the Republican party, but I now realize I just hate the current administration, and that they dont' represent the Republican party at all. I hope Bush hasn't tarnished the party name too much, and that the majority of you guys are smart enough to see that Ron Paul is the way to go.
He would have had no chance in hell of getting in as a Libertarian, he was smart enough to realize that.
The world really needs Ron Paul to be the next U.S president! |

I know a week back that I read that the internet polls were stronger than the phoning polls for Ron.
Does anybody have any current links or information about how well he is doing? |

| Isn't he kind of the rebel canidate? I can support him and make my wife happy by me not getting excommunticated from the Catholic church since he is pro-life. The church will find some reason to hate on him I would imagine. I should get involved and get a yard sign, although the Nebraska primaries aren't until May. I was thinking I might have to become a Democrat before this primary, looks like I won't have to waste my time at the courthouse. Nebraska has some good Republicans and some shitty ones. The good ones Chuck Hagel and former football coach turned congressman now athletic director Tom Osborne. The shitty ones Gov. Heineman and former Governor and Secretary of Ag and now Senate canidate Mike Johanns. If I can find a way to keep that Bush ass kisser Johanns out of the Senate I will be happy. |

I am pro-choice, and his pro-life stance is one of the few things I dont' agree with.
However, that is his own personal belief, and he has said he would leave those laws up to the State level, not a Federal ruling. Out of his hands kind of thing, and each state can decide. A much better stance than many other candidates IMO.
Abortion laws aren't even close to the most important issue of this election though. Even if that is a strong point for an individual, I have enough faith in people that they can realize that none of the candidates represent 100% of their beliefs perfectly, and that they realize there are many far more important issues than how the next president personally feels about abortion. |

| And I don't really expect anyone who is a heavy duty catholic to be able to make an informed decision based on facts at any level, especially politics, but I am not going to even mention that. |

I don't retain a thing. Hopefully I get laid more for it. Religious people lack a lot of ambition in my opinion since they can sit through an hour or better borefest without getting restless. I would enjoy church more if they just served coffee and breakfast during it. |

The only thing that rubs me the wrong way about Rob Paul is that he wants to go to the Alaskan Wildlife refuge to drill for oil. My hippy nature is against that, but maybe it is a better alternative than other things. I realize I don't know all of the issues involved with the decisioin.
But still, despite that, he'd get my vote for a lot of other reasons. None of the candidates are perfect. |

Actually I heard the pipeline would give the caribou something warm to stand by during the winter. They are ruminents just like cattle, maybe I don't know anything about caribou, but that is just my cowboy logic running wild. |

That warming thing must have come from some right wing goof with his head up his ass. That is a really sad argument that you heard.
I've heard that an above ground pipeline would interfere with their migration, and caribou migration affects most all of the animals up there, as they is the major source of food, and the migration is the major event up there much like how Tides are a major event in Southern areas.
There is an Alaskan pipeline already though, so I'm not sure if this one would be different, or worse.
Heavy drilling and subsequent activity does change the way wildlife act, I've seen that first hand. I think the Alaska situation is a lot more delicate than it is around here though - and there are a lot more rare and endangered species at risk, like Polar bears.
I think we have a responsibility to not fuck over the animals and the earth in a major way just to feed our addiction to oil.... but I have been known to change my mind on things. |
