Although my fuel costs are minimal since I make biodiesel, I keep a very close eye on gas/diesel prices. It affects the price of methanol and it affects how many diesel owners call me asking if I have any surplus.

I'm curious what it is around the country, especially California. Post your own.

West Central Florida

Unleaded Regular 3.05
Preminum 3.35

Diesel 3.39 - That would be $68 to fill up my jeep. Holy fuck.
ICE CUBAN
South Florida

3.50 Premium

Don't know how much diesel or regular is since I don't use either.
Abba
NJ: $2.89 regular
I use nothing else so I don't pay attention, and we pay tolls.
rod_jammer
CA: $3.39 for regular unleaded

In San Francisco, gas is as high as $3.69 for regular!
Apoc13
in southeastern mass, i can get reg unleaded for 2.83 at one station...but most are well above that
patcracker
$2.95 Regular
Southern Maryland......
Ass Boil
Just filled up with 87 grade in the NW burbs of Philly at $3.09
Reverend Tyler
Tucson, Az

CA27
CT $3.20 regular, premium is probably $3.55

I'm in SW Fairfield County, so gas is more expensive than the rest of the state. Damn zone pricing!

Always loved the cheap gas down in Jersey, and they even pump it for you.

Do they still do that? I remember when I lived in Oregon that those were the only two states that still have full serve.

Brings back memories. The guy would come out and wash your windows, check your oil. Damn, those days are long gone for the most part.

They don't clean your windows nor check your oil anymore. They still pump the gas, because it's the law.

It is against the law to pump your own gas in Jersey.

Enjoy it doofus.

It isn't all about the taxes either. The quality of life in the Carolina's far exceed that of the so-called, Garden State. Not to even mention the excellent public schools my kids go to. You can keep New Jersey. I still remember the day when I paid the toll at the end of the Turnpike and looked back in my rear-view mirror as NJ slowly faded away. I never missed it. Not once and not ever.

I was in Carolina for a couple weeks when one day I was leaving the Best Buy, holding the hand of my then 3 year daughter. Some gut coming into the Best Buy must have spotting us coming out. He was 15 feet from the door, we were 10 feet. He ran over to the door and opened it for us... Just because he saw a father and daughter walking together and I guess he felt like doing a nice thing. Similar things have happened, countless numbers of times. Civility is not dead here.

Another nice thing about the Carolinas. People don't beep their horns without absolute necessity. Unlike the assholes in Jersey who will give a preemptive blast before the fucking light even turns green, just in case you're not paying attention!

Another sign of civilization is young women can actually walk down the street without getting comments from every scumbag they pass.

Keep Jersey you asswipe. You and Jersey sound perfect together. :)

A hick opened the door for you...how fucking touching; I could just cry. I should have guessed Carolina. It makes my original assesment of your not having enough money true. I don't really care what a person makes, but your sooo cliche it's not funny. You can't afford to live here and you don't have the balls to actually move to the west coast or Miami or some place that's not just a shit load of Walmarts, Applebees, and strips malls, so you choose North Carolina (even though you said the Carolina's, I'm going to bet you're inland in North Carolina, because that's the way it way it works). Once there, you become content with Applee Riblets and bowling leagues that you talk about how civilized you've become.....I still say good riddance, I'll take the winter and I'll open the door myself just as long as I don't have to move to a dumb ass hick state.

Like I said, I fondly remember the day I left NJ and assholes like you behind. :)

And to make it all sweeter, I was actually given a nice bonus to come here. Hell, I would have come for free. No assholes like you, at least not in the scale you have in Jersey and sweet, precious, beautiful quality of life instead of that cesspool the NJ Turnpike runs through.

Let's see in 1998, new homes by major builders were going for 75 a square foot with great schools, low crime, great weather, low property taxes and low auto insurance rates.

What you could buy here for 250,000 would have cost you double in NJ and you still would not have the climate, schools, low-taxes and quality of life.

My kids were the forth generation born in NJ and thankfully, they will be the last. Keep on sucking those smokestacks and digging out money for fucking tolls every few miles. That's another nice thing about NC. It is the only state on the east coast without a fucking toll road.

Sure, Proximity to Walmart and Applebees equates to a quality of life, and you should be proud of yourself and your bonus of what I'm assuming is a birthing cow for your farm. But crackah please....be realistic about North Carolina schools. Your kids aren't getting a better education in that hick state than mine will up here (http://www.morganquitno.com/edrank.htm) ...sorry, you're delusional on that one. If you want to believe you made the right choice because you failed up here in civilation, good for you; however, it's healthier if you just accept you're in the middle of nowhere because you have no choice.

And one more thing....You live in North Carolina, not Florida, not Nevada, not California. Stop talking about the weather like you're in some tropical paradise. That's another cliche' of the failed to make ends meet so I need to move to Mayberry transient.

I'm so happy douche bags like you are too stupid to realize you live in a shit hole and just stay there. :)

Check out the Newsweek ranking on High Schools. I believe 1,300 schools were rated and 7 high schools in North Carolina were in the top 100. New Jersey had one...

NC also has a very good, very affordable University system as well. The war is over jackass.

And take a look at some weather maps. You'll notice Charlotte is not in the same temperate zone as that shit hole NJ. :D

You love the Peoples Republic of New Jersey, great, I'm real happy for you, I'm fucking ecstatic over it. I'm so happy knowing you won't be yet another asshole who gets smart and comes down here. :)

I honestly don't know... the prices jump around so fast, I no longer bother to shop for gas. I just show up at the same Red Apple station (North American harvest oil, only) and shove the old debit card in the slot...

usually $2-3, sometimes $5.
Depends on if I'm using cash or card and what I have on me.

A new WaWa opened up between my house and the turnpike, and for the first month or so their gas was cheaper than the surrounding stations by 5-10 cents.
Traffic REALLY became a nightmare as a result of it.

The one thing you don't need is the occasional free-spirited young lady who decides to stop traffic on I-77 by flashing her tits while she's on a boat in Lake Norman. :D

This article is from 04 but the phenomena has not completely disappeared.

Bare-Naked Boating Stops Traffic
Tuesday, August 17, 2004

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Boaters in the buff are literally stopping traffic near Interstate 77 in North Carolina.

Naked and bathing suit-clad boaters at Lake Norman (search) have recently been flashing drivers and causing major gaper delays — at times even bringing traffic to a standstill and causing crashes, according to The Charlotte, N.C., Observer.

The baring-it-all boaters at the causeway running between Iredell and Mecklenburg counties have brought in dozens of complaints to the Lake Norman Marine Commission, the paper reported last week.

"They get right up to that riprap, and they take their clothes off," the Observer quoted Iredell County sheriff's Deputy Phil Jones as telling the commission.

The "riprap" are the rocks where the lake and land meet at the bottom of the causeway. And on the interstate, motorists have a clear view of the water as they cross over it, according to the Observer.

Jones told the paper he's heard of at least one car crash that happened when rubbernecked drivers were busier looking at the boaters in birthday suits than they were at the highway. A smattering of complaints about the flashers has also come in, he said.

But cops have to catch flashers in the act of, well, flashing in order to arrest them. The nude boaters are often long gone by the time officers can get to the scene, Jones told the Observer.

Marine Commissioner Mark Lancaster of Iredell County saw the nudists himself, the newspaper reported.

Lancaster was near the Lake Norman/Interstate 77 causeway when he witnessed the jaw-dropping shenanigan himself. After he heard trucks honking and saw traffic stopping, he noticed three bare-naked ladies in a boat near the area in question, he told the Observer.

But marine commissioners and police said the nudity wasn't all that was bringing cars to a honking, screeching halt. Gaper delays have happened along that stretch of highway for any number of reasons.

"I've seen traffic jams looking at the sunset," the Observer quoted Marine Commission Chairman Randy Reece as saying.

Reece told the paper the rubbernecking was caused accidentally when the North Carolina Department of Transportation removed the fence along the causeway and started cutting back the bushes that used to block lake views.

"I think the lake looks a lot better without that fence," he told the Observer. "I think that is what has caused this problem with DOT."

The clusters of boats in that part of I-77 began recently, after the commission approved a new safety rule barring rafters from Cocktail Cove in Iredell County, according to the Observer. The paper reported that residents were upset about "nudity, drunkenness and obnoxious behavior."

Fuck that, I'm not apologizing. If some fat ass failure who doesn't want his kids to get the best education moves to the middle of nowhere and tries to pretend he made the right decision (I've been to North Carolina...unless you live in the Duck / Pine Island area...you didn't) takes a unprovoked jab at NJ, than fuck that failure. Fellow fat asses may hold the door open for you, but you've completely lost touch with any type of culture. Of course if you were from South Jersey to begin with, than it may be a wash and you're just maintaining your hickiness someplace else. Than I apologize.

I've been everywhere in this country, and while it's nice to visit, if you're someone who relishes the pace and lifestyle of Northern living, you'll go nuts down there. I''ve considered eventually considering (when the kids are out of school) moving south, but North Carolina...no f-ing way. I'd move to Miami or Savannah. I'd also consider San Diego or San Francisco. North Carolina may make a nice screen saver, but it's no way to live. You seem like a somewhat cultured anti-semite, I'd reconsider, if I were you. While you may enjoy the lack of Jewish people plotting against you, the boredom will make you miss your zionist friends.

You tip the gas station attendant?

I've seriously never heard of that before, don't know anyone that does it and have never even seen it done...?

Are you from Jersey originally?

The south, especially North Carolina, is like "remedial" living for those scared little pussies who can't hack it in the northeast.

When you think about the history of the world and the development of technology by mankind, it's literally astounding that one, single, individual human can harness the power of 9 internal combustion engines...

Man has exponentially advanced in harnessing technology in the just the last 100 years. In what amounts to just a blink of an eye, in terms of world history...

Of course, this technological advance is also what may enable the radical Islamists to kill all of us. :what:

:opps: I did again... :upset:

Sorry Stickman, I hi-jacked your thread again. :D

You're comfortable where your at, I wouldn't be...I live in the or what used to be the sticks, happiness to me is going up state back in the mountains alone away from the rat race, what where I live now used to be before urban sprawl.....1972.....you could by land for $200 and acre....just think about that.

I have a rototiller, tractor and a plow too.....I also have a huge garden that produces fresh food 9 months of the year :hw: and food in storage for the other three......I came from a completly different background than 99% of the posters here, the road in front of our farm when I was a kid was dirt, those days are long gone.

I'll fill in the blanks for you

And Zimmie there's something you should know about oil filters, certain OME filters contain check valves and using after market filters : jiffy lube Fram filters can affect the life of your engine and drastically reduce oil pressure and prevents oil storage on the top end as designed by manufacture at engine shut down.

Your welcome :hw:

OME=original manufactures equipment

After market filters DO NOT contain this check valve...it can reduce your oil pressure by as much as 50%, not enough to light the warning light in the dash, but way below the manufactures recommendations/specifications for the engine .
Not all cars/trucks have the check valves.

Not quite as urban an environment as you think here....deer every night at dusk, possum, skunks, ground hogs...I rent out pasture land for horses in back of my house.......it just sits in the middle of the nuevo-rich...I buy my produce at the farmers market three miles away...no time to grow my own anymore...my mother passed away recently, lived nearby before 2 year stay in nursing home....parents bought house and property 5 acres, in late 50's for 30K...worth $, $$$,$$$ now......area becoming overrun with non Virginians...won't stay here forever....

Its getting that way here with urban sprawl and traffic and it's really starting to get on my fucking nerves.....don't even get me started ...the property I bought has fields in the back and wet lands in the front ( can't be built on )...I made sure of that 14 years ago. my father and I quit farming years ago...all work no money...for a small mom and pop farm...there was an orchard that butted right up to our farm and we were welcome to help ourselves to the fruit as it came in because we helped each other out....the orchard is homes now :(

Bumping this thread for the gas prices.

$3.08 in this part central florida where I'm at, for regular grade.
Stickman
Diesel is 3.41 in C. Florida.

I've heard that it will go up to 4/gallon by New Years.

I'm curious what the posters here think is the maximum fuel price per gallon the economy can sustain.

4, 5 bucks a gallon?
