Why would he need to be? He admitted his use and everything was exposed after his death.

since when does a check and a shipping receipt automatically equal steroids? the whole report is pieced together with hearsay and innuendo.

when you hire a senator, spend tax dollars and 20 months to do an official investigation, i expect conclusive evidence.

Well I'll be waiting to see what Roger has to say about it. After all, it was only his trainer that he dragged around with him from Toronto to NY that said it.

so a known steroid supplier who is raided by the feds, and consequently has documents seized from his house implicating players who bought steroids from him doesn't equate evidence?

Honestly people for the last time, who gives a shit. Baseball just needs to focus on making sure that it stays clean from now on, nothing good can come from this witch hunt. Let sleeping dogs lie.

i'm not a lawyer, but i wouldn't consider that hard evidence to convict, no. these players are being iudged as guilty without even being tested.

and what is the point of dragging up names like lenny dykstra?

It is only a report. It is Mitchells findings. No one is going to trial.

This report is built off the steroid use by players. The guy was reporting how and when these actions took place.
specialkt
i'm not even denying that a lot of it probably happened. my problem is that i think they took a lot of liberties with their evidence and the investigation was incomplete. they based everything on this one guy from the mets and tarnished the names of a lot of players while there are no doubt many others out there. it was a stupid exercise that accomplished what exactly?

What it accomplished was hopefully a start of better things to come. A cleaner more trustworthy league. Something like this had to happen. It is just scratching the surface, IMO.

And the thing that you have to remember is that I'm sure there weren't many people involved in this stuff that were willing to come forward and "rat" on the players they worked for.

This report isn't meant to be an inclusive end all of the steroid era.

i'm done. he's still my favorite player.

Well no shit. That's all this was. It wasn't a criminal investigation by the feds, it's an investigative report. If this was brought to a trial I'm sure he'd have plenty of evidence to convict someone if it got that far.
Marinolaw
People have to realize that most criminal investigations utilize people who are facing jail time, for some crime or another. It's a criminal defense attorney's job to discredit an informant, but their bread and butter is making the best deal for their client, which usually means agreeing to give up information about co-conspirators, and the primary target of an investigation.

To dismiss these guys' testimony as false, simply because they were being threatened with prosecution is just foolish. It's how the system works, every day.

Tax Dollars? Are you kidding me? This was paid for entirely my MLB.

Also, IMHO $20,000,0000 was a BARGAIN for this report. It is clearly worth 5x that!
LennyD23
huge waste, can't prove anything report.
KingOfAllWhites
If the report can not prove anything, many of those players are going to get huge amounts of damages after they sue!!
LennyD23
they're damaged forever. they have to spend their own money to clear their names.

this investigation sucks balls, is inconclusive, and incomplete... all the reasons i told you this would be a total waste BEFORE it was released yesterday. i wish my thread about wasting $23 million back in may was still here for me to bump.

Just so you know, in some peoples opinion that thread would still be wrong today.

I still think it is the best $20,000,000 MLB has spent in a long time.

I certainly can not disagree with your last 2 statements. But I assure you, I am not the only person who likes what is going on here. I guess I am in the minority but there are others who feel the same way.

However, I do respect your difference in opinion. At least I know your a true fan and looking out for the best of the game. I guess we just want to get there in 2 different ways.
