I know this has been discussed previously, but I lost the info when we lost all of the old posts in the forum. Bubba talked on-air about the gun that he carries with him all the time. Does anybody remember what kind it is?
jeepguy05
he carries a pistol made by FN Herstal called the Five-seveN(it is spelled just like I typed it too with the uppercase N) in 5.7x28mm and holds 20 rounds in the magazine. The ammo out of a pistol isn't even as powerful as a .357 magnum even with that small rifle style cartridge it uses. It's main selling point is that it has 60% less recoil than a 9mm pistol and is lightweight and uses a hi capacity magazine(where legal--some states still mandate 10 rounds maximum) The are a few loadings of the 5.7 that are military only-there aren't too many civilian loads out yet.

You will need a long ass clip for 20 rounds of that stuff.....
Not to fun to carry out of site im sure....

the 20 round clip fits flush-it's designed to do that---most modern 9mm pistols carry 15 to 17 rounds(10 if you live in CA) the shells are staggered in the magazine so it fits. I also doubt Bubba is packing that gun in a holster-I remember him saying he has a gun bag-he probably carries in near him in his car etc--or maybe a fanny pack lol

This raises a question I've always had. On the "Bubbas' wedding" HTV special some time back , they showed Bubba sitting in his gun room where Bubba just talked a little about his guns. Why did'nt Bubba show us any of his guns? I mean he showed his vehicles, his fishtank and even his stove in the kitchen! But he only talked about his guns without showing them. Just curious.

On a side note, has anyone heard anything about the new Taurus Judge?
I saw an ad for it and thought a handgun that could shoot .45 and 410 shotgun rounds was interesting.
Thanks.
Jeff
jeepguy05
that Taurus Judge is a really neat handgun. It's just a tad too big for a concealed carry gun but it would be great against carjackers. Not every state will allow that gun in because they view it as a sawed off shotgun(CA i know for sure feels that way because they never allowed other types of .45 caliber handguns that could chamber the .410 shotshell. they made the manufacturers alter their guns for the CA market so that it would only chamber the .45 Colt round.) It is legal here in WA and if you have a concealed weapons permit you have to have the weapon actually on your person-not in the glovebox or the center console.

Here's what I carry:
whoop ass
\`whoop 'ass\ n.
A dangerous substance, usually found packaged inside cans. When released, can cause major damage to the person it is intended for, and is often used as a weapon of destruction. More often the user warns the recipient of an imminent opening of a can, if the recipient does not act as desired by the opener.
"If you don't shut up I'm gonna open up a can of whoop ass!"
"If you go ahead with that plan, you're gonna see me open up a can of whoop ass on you!"
"Boy, we're gonna open up a whole case o whoop ass on your ass!"
:D

jeepguy,
I live in Washington too. How much does a concealed carry license cost nowdays? I had one in my 20's, but let it expire.
I think this would be a good carry piece, not to mention home security.

4. Obtaining a concealed pistol license.
If you are in the State of Washington, to carry a pistol concealed, you must have a valid Washington concealed pistol permit, or a permit issued from a state currently recognized by the state of Washington, on your person. Please check the Washington Attorney General's Web site for a list of states with whom reciprocity currently exists. A permit issued in Washington may also be recognized in other states. The state in question would need to be contacted to ascertain if they would honor a permit issued in this state.
If you have been convicted of a Felony, under current RCW you are not eligible to obtain a permit until your 'Rights' have been restored through a court of law. We would suggest obtaining legal counsel to assist you in this process as we are prohibited from offering legal advice. If you have been convicted of any of the new misdemeanor laws relating to the Brady Act, i.e. Domestic Violence, etc., you have lost your right to carry a firearm and must go through the process of having your rights restored to be legal. Further information may be obtained from consulting the Revised Code of Washington 9.41. for a complete text of the law.
You must be 21 years of age and a United States citizen; not be under any court indictments; have no active warrants, pending trials, appeals on felony charges and no court orders against possessing of firearms. There is a process for an Alien to obtain a permit by conferring directly with the Department of Licensing-Firearms in Olympia, Washington, to start this process.
Concealed Pistol Permits may be obtained for Clark County residents at the headquarters office of the Clark County Sheriff's Office, located at 707 West 13th Street, Vancouver, WA 98660. Residents of other states may apply here also. However, residents of Washington cities located outside Clark County must apply to their local jurisdiction.
While residents living within Clark County can expect a 30 day period of waiting, the law provides our agency up to 60 days for out of state residents to process due to time needed for extra paperwork.
For an original permit, valid for (5) five years, you will have to fill out a short application form providing us with pertinent information about yourself and be fingerprinted. You may download the permit from this site and fill it out prior to arrival at the Sheriff's Office but you must still present yourself at our office in order to be fingerprinted and to submit the application.
The cost of an original permit is $60.00 and is payable upon application. The permit, upon validation by our department, will be mailed to your address when the process is complete. If you are denied for a firearms permit, your application fees WILL NOT be refunded.
A renewal must be paid for, signed, and will be mailed out in approximately (2) two weeks. A permit needing renewal must be accomplished within (90) ninety days prior to the expiration date at a charge of $32.00. Washington State Law allows renewal on an expired permit for up to (90) ninety days after the date, however, there is a $10.00 late fee, or a total of $42.00 charge. The permit will be mailed to the residence of record approximately (2) two weeks after application.
If a concealed pistol permit is lost/stolen, you may come in to the Sheriff's Office and apply for a replacement. There is a $10.00 fee payable for a replacement.
When paying by a personal check, there is a (15) fifteen business day waiting period applicable prior to processing to allow check to clear.
Business hours for obtaining firearms permits are Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.. Closed Saturday, Sunday, holidays and during regular business days from noon to 1:15 p.m. for lunch. No appointment is needed.
Further information may be obtained by contacting our department during business hours.

5. Leaving a pistol in a vehicle.

I think this is going to be my carry gun. I know its old fashioned these days to pack a revolver, but I wanted something lightweight-and this particular .38 Special has a 7 round cylinder and can handle the hotter +p loads. It's a Taurus 817 Ultra-Lite (21oz)

Anyone think Bubba has any licensed & legal Full-auto? Then again, Florida might be "closed" on full-auto, I'm not sure.

This is my everyday....Taurus Model 605...easy to carry w/ a nice little kick.
With regard to the permits, here in Pa. I believe we still have 2 different ones. Concealed and Hunting and Fishing. Can't remember how they both work since it's been almost 20 yrs, but this is what I did to get my "Concealed or Protection" permit.
Have yourself a clean record (of course!!), drop by the local Sheriff's office ( they control ours here) and obtain the form . You will need several character references, and they will ask you why you want it. I own 2 businesses so the response is simple and they prefer it that way. Protection!!!
It is a picture ID and once rec'd it is good for 5 yrs w/ each renewal being the same. A little box on the license "Reason to Carry" will say "Protection"
The "Hunting and Fishing" permit, which I believe is a little easier to obtain, does not allow the full concealment.
Your local gun shop, Police or Sheriff's dept. will always be able to point you in the proper directions.

First of all, I'm NOT a Glock fan, but are you kidding me?
Glocks are overpriced for what they are? You couldn't be more wrong. If you knew what you were talking about, you'd know the price for a Glock is somewhere in the middle, compared to most GOOD QUALITY handguns on the market.
Glocks are one of the most (many would say THE most) reliable handguns, EVER. No, they are not the 'prettiest' guns on the market, but it's the simplistic design that greatly contributes to it's amazing reliability. Utilizing nearly half as many working parts as most hanguns on the market today, this makes the Glock one of the easiest guns maintain and repair.
On top of that, Glocks are one of VERY FEW hanguns that are able to properly function under extreme conditions. If Glocks are so overrated, why would nearly every local, state, and federal government law enforcement agency (IN THE WORLD) choose the Glock as their standard issued firearm?
With that being said, I chose the Springfield XD 40 over the Glock for a few reasons. The XD series hanguns are very similar to the Glock, except for a few key features. To me, the main reason was the XD's grip angle/grip safety is the same as the 1911. In my opinion, the 1911-style grip angle is more naturally pointable. Glocks tend to have a more oblique grip angle. The other reason I chose the XD over the Glock was because of it's fully supported chamber, which reduces the chance of a case rupture in the 9mm and .40, a problem known to Glocks. The final reason I chose the XD over the Glock is, because of the results from the torture test (Glock has a similar test). The XD was stripped and degreased, frozen in a block of ice, run over with a truck, caked in sand, and still was able to fire 20,000 rounds without one single malfunction. There were a few other minor reasons I chose the XD over the Glock, but that pretty well sums it up.

I have owned several handguns. Including many Glocks.
One year I was going to the range a few times a week. I can say the Glock is by far the most reliable semi-auto I have ever shot.
I had a Glock that I shot 1000's of round through. Then I sold it to my buddy and he only had that one gun. He shots 1000's more through it. So many rounds went through that Glock 17, the black finish was actually grey!!! We shot reloads, we shot cheapie reloads(non jacketed) while the barrel would be dirty after open lead rounds, it would still shoot. My buddy NEVER cleaned his and it never had a problem. I have NEVER had a glock jam ejecting the shell
