It seems JaMarcus has a higher completion percentage to opposing team players. 6 years 60 million with 30 million guaranteed? Al Davis may wind up getting more production out of Todd Marijuanavich.

yep...

Yes, every QB can be judged after 4 games and under 50 pass attempts. Do not forget about the talent that just surrounds him!!
iHateMastertape
Did you see his first pass today in his first start? Interception on a screen!

i think he will be OK, as he has great size and arm strength, but it will take a while.

he's dumber than a rock...just like Vince Young.

He is a dumb negro who was VASTLY over rated. Couldnt' happen to a better team.

Give him time, he missed training season. No way to know after such a short time.

every rookie qb will struggle with no protection

You can not be serious. What has Quinn showed you, that he is the next Joe Montana?

actually to defend quinn yesterday he led a drive to the end zone only for edwards and winslow to drop passes in the endzone.

Not true you can tell this guy sucks right away. He has those Heath Shuler eyes.

Now I hate the Raiders as much or more than anyone but the kids been in the game for a cup of coffee with the worst supporting cast in the NFL. At least give him a little time before you judge him. The fact is the Raiders will never be worth a shit until after Al Davis kicks off and starts his journey down to Hell for the rest of eternity.
Devil_Dog_Dre
JaMarcus has no weapons around him give him time

The Raiders should draft Chase Daniels in 2008......

remember that Randy Moss did nothing when he was in Oakland too.

Jamarcus is physically a monster. If his confidance is not ruined early by playing for an undermanned team, he will be a star.
AcquiringSignal
Yes!

He is just a big dumb retard.

The Browns drafted Joe Thomas 3rd and then a BETTER QB around pick 21 - Brady Quinn.
caliman
Troy Smith has looked better than him so far. I know it's waaaay early, but still something to note.

If nothing else he has the arm and athletic ability

a wee bit early to call this guy a bust ..now Eli Manning..HE'S a bust

he hasnt played yet? How good or bad he is, no one knows. I'll take him in a heartbeat over kellen clemens any day
Elslavo
You cant tell how he is going to be from what little he played this year - its proven that QBs benefit from sitting on the bench and developing that way. Number 1s always get rushed, so I am sure he will start next year and then we'll have a better idea on his worth. I dont know if I would ever draft a QB at 1, you re pretty much spending all that money and time for results in 3 years.

That's the key. If the dude has any of the talent or smarts necessary to succeed in the NFL then it will all be squelched playing for a cursed and poorly run franchise (The Raiders) that will expect him to be their savior. Chances are against him succeeding. Far more first-round QBs are busts than succeed.
Jay Z
you got to give him another year or two, remember aikman was 1-15 his first year
flinch
It will take 2-3yrs on average for a Rookie QB to make a statement. He may not play well next year either, but 2009 mightbe the year, watch.

How can Quinn be a better QB when he has not shown us anything?

Gee, I love the Raiders and agree with you 100%. Well, not about Al Davis. I'm SURE that fucker has been dead for years. He's some kind of vampire or some shit. Maybe a lower demon, but he's been dead for a while.
You know it's bad when Raider haters even feel sorry for them.

Waay too early. He hasn't even began his career yet in all reality. C'mon..he didn't even get a training camp in this year. He is still very raw when it comes to the pro game.

This thread should be about Reggie Bush more than Russell.

I loved the Al Davis who wasn't senile and had a penchant for putting together winning teams. Now it's time for him to get in the box and hand the team over to people who actually know how to run a professional football franchise in the 21st century.

I hate to say it but these scramblers that make the huge plays in NCAA do not amount to shit in the NFL from Jamarcus to Troy Smith to Leftwich and even M Vick they are all overhyped and overpaid.
Look at the success in the NFL Big Ben Tom Brady and even though I hate them the Mannings.

Not that I am pointing out a trend here....

Mark my words Colt Brennon will do great things in the NFL....
Jamarcus Russell is done!

Hey Dummy: Russell isn't a "scrambling" QB. He was drafted because he's a huge guy (6' 6", 260lbs) and was an outstanding passer with a very strong arm. In his last season at LSU he rushed for a total of 146 yards with 1 rushing TD -- hardly a "scrambler. On the other hand, here are his passing accomplishments (and the reason he was the #1 pick):

- Finished ranked among the top five in every career passing category kept at LSU
- Compiled a 25-4 mark as LSU’s starting quarterback
- The 25 wins ties with Warren Rabb as the third-highest total in LSU history
- Ranked second all-time at LSU in career completion percentage (61.9) and career touchdown passes (52)
- Also ranks third in career completions (493) and career passing yards (6,625) and fourth in career attempts (797)
- Is just the fourth player in school history to go over the 6,000 yard mark in total offense (6,704 yards)
- Capped career ranked No. 3 in school history with 6,704 yards of total offense, just one yard shy of tying Jeff Wickersham for second place in school history
- Only the fourth quarterback in LSU history to pass for over 6,000 yards
- Connected with WR Dwayne Bowe on 23 TD passes which ranks the pair as the most prolific pass-catch scoring combo in school history
- Has engineered eight fourth quarter or overtime victories during his career
- Leaves LSU with single-season records in touchdown passes (tied Matt Mauck with 28), completions (232) and completion percentage (67.8)
- Is the only quarterback to lead the Tigers at least 10 wins in back-to-back seasons
- Russell won 10 games as a starter in 2005 and followed that by starting all 11 victories in 2006.

Russell is not a Michael Vick type QB -- probably more like a Daunte Culpepper type of player. It's far to early to call him a bust but given he is playing for a loser franchise who made even Randy Moss look horrible, I don't have much hope for him.

Btw, Colt Brennan sucks and won't do shit in the NFL. Count on it.

wtf are you talking about? Russell and Troy Smith haven't even had a cup of coffee in the NFL yet. How is he done? Randell Cunningham, Culpepper, McNabb, Steve McNair, and even Vick have all had success in the league, some more than others. Leftwich is NOT a scrambler QB.

Just read the headline, not any of the posts and I don't care to.

The answer is Yes.

Blacks, as good as they are at every other position, do not make good quarterbacks. I mean, a real quarterback, a general on the field who take the game into his own hands, makes smart decisions, and wins games.

Name ONE black quarterback you would build a team around. I can't think of any. ANd don't call me ignorant or racist because you know this is the truth.

And Troy Smith wasn't even projected to make the NFL because of his size. He was drafted late and barely made the Ravens' roster. There is not much expectation for him. Russell, on the other hand, is a #1 pick so the expectations are huge. And, no matter how well he does, he probably will be considered a bust unless he's the next Manning or Brady, which ain't happening.

Well there was once a big, dumb, running QB that had a couple of HORRIBLE seasons when he first came out of college. Then the horse face jackass went on to have a Hall of Fame career and kill Raider fans for years. John fucking Elway.
You can't toss Russell so soon.

He wasn't Tom Brady out there but he didn't exactly stink it up for it being his first start at home in Oakland either. 24-31 and a td (1 int) isn't really that bad actually!

Get the kid some pass protection and a couple wr's and he'll be fine!

This was an absolute laser beam td pass to Porter if you missed it.
