Are there any STARTING white running backs or wide receivers in the NFL? I can't think of any. I remember John Riggins and Jason Seahorn but those were the last of this dying breed to play in the NFL.
On the flip side are there any black place kickers? HAVE there EVER been?
Has there ever been an Asian in the NFL since that UCLA kicker that bombed in the NFL?
A.Lang=Crazy
I don't know of a RB, but this guy is good.

For black kickers I saw Maryland has a black kicker and of course he missed the FG.
Blade_Jones
I just think it's odd that people are irritated that there aren't enough black quarterbacks. Well maybe that's because they're too busy playing all of the other positions. And why isn't Jesse Jackson complaining about the lack of place kickers? Is place kicking not glamorous enough to even be bothered with? :o

Tim Dwight used to be fast he played special teams for the Falcons, didnt he return one in the super bowl during the Jamal Anderson falcon era ??

White Running Backs are almost non-existant unless they are a Fullback. Exceptions would be Mike Alstott who was more of a combo RB/FB.

The Raiders do have a very good RB Justin Fargas who is some sort of combination of Mexican/White/Black.

As for White Wide Receievers there have been many and there still are many good ones.

Not mentioned on Sparky's list are:

Wes Welker (#1 in the NFL in Receptions...seen in pic in post #2)

Matt Jones (very talented WR for Jacksonville...had a down year this season)

Joe Jurevicius

Drew Bennett

by the way Tim Dwight made his comeback this year with the Raiders and played in a few games.
bonghitbobby
seems as tho there are a influx of white recievers this year, the white dudes are all classified as the possession guys, I think the new breed of recievers will be the ones with good hands and less the speed guys.
Valve
There's a lot of solid white Tight Ends too.

I love the TD he scored vs the Vikings running backwards, isnt it kind of racist to claim Mike was a FB even tho he was a shitty blocker and was in the game to run/catch the ball.. hehe if anything he was a tailback

OT Eugene Chung, he was actually a first round pick
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Chung

there are a handful of half black half Asian players, Takeo Spikes, Johnny Morton(retired, I think) to name a few.

as far as black punters go, Reggie Roby, 3 time pro-bowler
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggie_Roby

Is Jesse Jackson complaining about the lack of starting QBs in the NFL? Nah, I didn't think so. You sound like a garden variety "angry white guy." You should relax and not sweat these things. Then again, if your dysfunction is responsible for creating your hilarious "Touchtone Terrorists" tapes, then maybe you should stay as you are. I don't give a fuck.

I do believe that Reggie Roby was the ONLY black punter EVER to play in the NFL. I can't remember another one, nor a single black place-kicker. I guess that most black football players have too much athletic talent to waste on being a kicker.
Disco_stu73
No one is complaining that there aren't enough black QBs anymore. There's a ton of them now. I fail to grasp the point of this entire thread.

How about the white Cornerback?

How about that black extra point holder

what was funny about Roby was, he used to wear a wrist watch while playing, it looked so odd.

Add this one to the white RBs in NFL beginning next year: Owen "Mad Man" Schmitt!

Brother was flexible.

i always chuckle when announcers mention the white receivers as either good route runners or good hands. you don't hear that often with the black receivers.
Douchebag_AZ
Latinos in the NFL ???

I can only think of Tony Gonzales ....
Douchebag_AZ
Ohh yeah and Anthony Gonzales who is a rookie out of Ohio State , he's been starting for the Colts and is doing a good job

LOL. Yeah, it's so true. A friend of mine who I used to watch a lot of sport with would always laugh about how the announcers often described white players as "intelligent" and "students of the game" whereas the black players were more often described as "athletic" and "physical." Still happens.

Has there ever been a "true " QB who is black ??? or have they all been scramblers who cant play in the pocket ??

...just looking at Wikepedia, Tony Gonzalez's background is all over the place

... of African American, Brazilian, Italian American, Peruvian and Cape Verdean

Despite Tony Romo's Italian sounding name, he is in fact of Mexican heritage, I think Jim Plunkett was too.

I don't think Doug Williams was that mobile. Byron Leftwich wasn't that mobile(well his leg was injured since college).

You know what I actually watched a HBO sports special about Tony Gonzales he is of Hispanic heritage because a few seasons ago he let the cameras follow him around while he lived in deep south Mexico with a sponsor family , the whole segment was about him trying to uncover his latin roots and learn Spanish..

off topic : I actually read a article about Ted Williams being half Mexican , I guess his mother was a big time Salvation Army lady who would always send help to Mexico and what not.. If I remember correctly the article said his mom was born in Tijuana, Mexico ..Of course back then he had to deny it ..

David Diaz-Infante who played for the Broncos was hispanic.

Warren Moon was definitely successful because of his passing ability over his running/scrambling ability.

Yeah, often Samoans. I remember the great 49er Jesse Sapolu, who my friends and I used to jokingly refer to as Jesse Pick-up-the-Soap-olu. Get it?

Nah! Just in the safety of our living rooms.

There was also the great Manu Tuiasosopo, who we jokingly referred to as Manu Pick-Up-The-Soap-O. :D

There's some sort of law that you're only allowed to compare white players to other white players. I can't tell you how many times I heard Welker compared to Stokley this year. Welker is way better than Stokley. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, but he's no Ed McCaffrey.
