#1 Johan Santana
#2 Pedro Martinez
#3 John Maine
#4 Orlando Hernandez
#5 Livan Hernandez

Perez can be bullpen/ insurance/ 6th starter

If Duaner Sanchez can't be the dominant Sanchez of 2006 maybe Perez can?

Would you be confident in Minaya if the Mets opened spring training with this type of rotation?

Try this rotation at BEST:
1 Pedro Martinez
2 John Maine
3 Orlando Hernandez
4 Livan Hernandez
5 Perez

Try that fucking rotation son, HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaa...When the Mets are 20 games out in August they are going to wish they never let their ace Glavin go.......
Hugomarink
Pedro Martinez is D-O-N-E!
Badhandhaney
I think it is 50/50 Pedro will be an ace again. I disagree that Glavine was the "ace" of the club. I think without trading for Santana the Mets will not be taken seriously since the September collapse.

In general, but especially when it concerns the Mets just completely ignore anything pussy or mbrin have anything to say. They both just make shit up out of left field for the Mets. They love saying how nobody cares about the Mets, but as you can tell Nuge is the first to respond.

Oh yeah, better off just putting this in the Mets thread. There are only like 4 or 5 of us on here that are actually Mets fans.

HAHAHA, Phillies make it to the playoffs for the first time in 14 years, have a party for themselves and then get exposed as decent offense with no pitching in the playoffs. Go have another party for the Eagles while you are at it. Colorado showed that the Phils only got to the playoffs because the METS imploded. Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins are a great nucleus, I give them all the credit in the world, but they need Abreu, Rowand and Wagner to be contenders and they lost them. They also need to add 2 starters to be successful in the playoffs, but if Pedro is healthy the Mets only need to add one.

I am a greeter working directly for the front office, NOT a 3rd party like Aramark. It was seriously the best job I have ever had, and I am a Yankee fan. I LOVED working for Sterling-Mets and I will only leave that position if I get something higher up in the Mets system.

if the mets want santANa bye bye Jose

WFAN's Mike Francesca says the Twins are still insisting on Jose Reyes in a Johan Santana deal with the Mets.

The Twins have to know by now that they have no realistic chance of getting Reyes. "I spoke to Omar Minaya yesterday, and one thing you can take to the bank is that when we get to spring training Jose Reyes will be there - anything else you hear is nonsense," Francesca said. "And they have not backed off Reyes, the Twins are still asking for Reyes, they are at a stalemate with the Mets over Reyes."

thank you. i nearly fell out of my chair when i read "Phillies are the team to beat" what kind of weed is that guy smoking and where can i get some? Utley, Howard and Rollins are the only guys worth a shit on that team
A.Lang=Crazy
They won the NL East last year right? So they are the team to beat. Mets haven't done shit in the offseason. I guess Hamels sucks too right.

Seriously this is a thread about the Mets rotation, not the Phabulous Phillies with their terrific 10,000+ losses.

Mets aren't trading Reyes. Why would they want Reyes when there are "8 better SS's in the NL?"

Petey, fuck you for not posting the whole article on metsblog.com

Just use the parts that you want to promote.

Why didnt you say this was also in the same post on metsblog.com?
---------------

For what it’s worth, in a recent report for ESPN.com, citing ‘one source with knowledge of the discussion,’ Jayson Stark wrote, while the Twins originally asked for Reyes, that possibility was dismissed ‘a long time ago.’

Also, last week at his blog for the Star-Tribune, La Velle E. Neal III wrote that the Mets remain a ‘viable destination’ for Santana, while adding, ‘The Twins like enough of their players that a deal could be worked out without Reyes being part of the package.’

I think they can still win their division with the rotation Nuge put up... but it won't win them a title, they need to land someone good, not even great, just really solid.

The only guys they are missing from last year are LoDuca, Glavine and Green. Assuming they don't go in to the toilet two years in a row (which I would assume they won't), there's no reason they shouldn't be at least a co-favorite to win the NL East with the Phils. I'm sure our resident Braves fans will tell you differently, even though they lost a starting SS, former franchise CF'er and added a declining 42 year-old to their rotation.

Agreed. Atlanta doesn't have the deep pockets anymore, the pitching coach, or the smart GM. They have weakened the team adding Glavine, losing Renteria and Andruw Jones. I have a feeling the Texiera signing will help them but losing Salty will bite them in the ass when Texiera signs with the Mets, Yanks or Red Sox. The Mets done a little addition by subtraction unloading Mota, non tendering Estrada (hope he never bought ay NY hats lol) dumping mental cases like LoDuca and Milledge, and letting Green go. I really think they need Livan Hernandez and Johan Santana this year, and Yu Darvish from the Ham Fighters (Japanese League) in 2009. This could lead to 2 world series victories!

Ahhh, how refreshing it is to hear a guy talk baseball, without being able to read his hate for the mets in between the lines.

You definately know what your talking about. Hope youll be around all season long. The Mets thread really gets going once pitchers and catchers report!

Agreed. Mets are probably just as good as they were last year. I don't think the LoDuca for Schneider swap is as bad as some think. LoDuca is obviously the better hitter but Schneider is a better catcher. Mota was garbage, don't really have too much affinity for Green. He had some clutch hits last year but nothing that can't be replaced. We lost Glavine but his days are numbered, especially since umps seem to not give him the corners anymore. If he's not getting those calls he's not the same pitcher. Overall it would be nice to get another couple arms but I don't think it's totally necessary to win the East. Pedro could be spectacular this year just as easily as he could be terrible. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Badhandhaney
I read statistics that compare Schnieder and LoDuca's offense as pretty much a wash, and his defense is WAY better. The biggest thing is that he is a clubhouse leader and has no links to the Mitchell report. I think this thread should be combined with the official Mets thread, but I dont know how to do it. I have also started a Tigers thread, and I have previously posted ideas about how the Tigers and Mets had similar issues in 2007. I love baseball and Im currently reading 3 books about the business aspects "Moneyball" etc. I am NOT a Mets fan, but I can never hate on the Mets, because they gave me a job, and I find Mets games EXTREMELY exciting. I also just bashed the SHIT out of the Phils over on the Mets thread so go check it out. I spit hot venom and only speak the truth about Philadelphia. I hate that city, even though half my damn family lives there.
meetthemets
Only a couple Phils fans here. A.Lang is a good dude but will turn on the Phils in two seconds if they start to sputter, just like the rest of their fans. If I had a dime for every time he said "it's over" or "Manuel should be fired" last year I could have purchased the team. Then he wanted Manuel as manager of the year when they won the east. It's hard to get a gauge on Phillies fans. :D
KingOfAllWhites
I agree with meet.

A.Lang is a good dude, and loves to hate on the Yankees with me. However he does quit on his team quicker then anybody I have ever seen. He is a typical frustrated Philly fan.

Deep down they know what is going to happen, but they hate admitting it :D
A.Lang=Crazy
Like you guys don't want Heilman and Randolph's head after every loss.
KingOfAllWhites
You know I said I would still take my chances with Heilman.

I dont know what to say about Willie
A.Lang=Crazy
Guys have to give me a day or two after every loss. I always say stupid shit after they lose, but you can't call me the mbrin for the Phillies.
meetthemets
I was still willing to give Willie a shot this year. I don't think I ever called for his head. I was pissed at his laid back demeanor, no doubt, but never thought he should be fired. Heilman is another story. I just cringe every time he enters a game with a one run lead in the 8th.

Not sure about that, they couldn't win with a better rotation that the had last year and how did their team improve that much over last years?
Badhandhaney
How to we combine this thread with the Mets thread? It seems like the 2 threads are redundant.
KingOfAllWhites
None of us have the power to combine threads..We just have to ignore this thread and bring the convo to the Mets thread.
mbrin_61
I love this thread. tiny meat ragged on Randolph more than anyone. Now it's "I never said that." As usual, completely full of shit. And the only prediction he would make all season was that the Mutts would win the N.L. East. His BA .000. One chicken-shit prediction and even that blew up on his face.

I said back in April the team with the best Division record would win the N.L. East. Philly and the Braves had a winning record in the Division. The Mutts had a losing record. Hmmmm go figure.

The Phillies are improved in the offseason. The Braves are improved in picking up a quality starter in Glavine and dumping an overrated .222 hitting has-been in Andruw Jones. Yunel Escobar will become a superstar this season.

It's gonna be the Phillies and Braves all season with the Mutts a distant 3rd. Remember...the Mutts only have one good season a decade. 2006 was it. Creaky ass Livan Hernandez and Pedro Martinez...please. They're done. Perez and Maine are the real deal, but as the Braves found out last year, you need more than two good starters.

It's the Phillies with the nod, and the Braves right on their heels, with a lot of disguntled fans in Flushing. You heard it here first.

It's true I ragged on Willie, so did every other Met fan on the planet, but I never once said he should be fired.

So how is predicting the Mets winning the division chicken shit? You should talk about predictions gone wrong. How bout that "the Braves will be in first by July 22, count on it." That would have blown up in your face except you ran and hid for two weeks after the Braves never again gained the NL East lead. Or what about King challenging you to a wager on one of your guarantees? You believed in your team so much you couldn't even make a lousy $50 bet. I also love your bullshit about the division record. Looks like all that got your team was a 3rd place finish, even after that colossal meltdown. Oh, and you didn't have a winning record against the Mets last year either. Keep kidding yourself.
