Did Bubba say that he has a three-year contract with terrestrial?
Goodbye Sirius after 2008 after he syndicates more. |

The only thing I can hope for is an opt-out or buyout clause in his Cox contract and Sirius paying him more than $4 million per year so he can leave terrestrial and just work four hours a day. |

It really seems like Bubba is very excited to be back on terrestrial in the Florida market. Good for him.
But, it's always better to work where you're appreciated. |

I heard them, I was shaking I was so excited. I can imagine that woulda been how I felt if I heard jimmy come on live if I was some poor ass Bubba mark sitting in Jacksonville waiting to get Bubba back for free after missing him for so long.
Howard was yelling about technical stuff and telling Fred how to do things in their test. These guys sounded like they were ready to roll with a live show no bubbles no troubles. Yeah the stream sounds shitty, but that is just how it is gonna be I guess.
Now I need to figure out where I am going to find time to listen to all this.. and how I am gonna get the stream at work.. I might need to resort to some kind of illicit activity to get recordings of their stream I think.. damn it I hate being shady..
oh fuck I better go back to bed!! |

I am absolutely, 100% looking forward to the morning show.
Here's the funny thing about Bubba. In the time I've been listening to the show, I've noticed fans constantly saying "he can't do that," "he didn't do that," and "he isn't doing that." Bubba tends to prove them wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the people here saying that Bubba can't succeed pulling double duty were also the ones who said that the whole Marco Island thing was a hoax.
Regardless, I have no doubt in my mind that they will do it and do it well. Sure, there will always be haters who denounce it, no matter how successful it is, because it's "toned down." Well, if that's the case, then just don't listen to it, asshole. They aren't relying on their satellite audience for this venture, so who fucking cares if you want to nit pick it to death?
If you're a supposed "fan of the show," how can you NOT want it to succeed? If you want Bubba to receive more credibility with his satellite bosses who give him none, if you think that Bubba has been working for chicken scratch for too long, how can you NOT support him doing whatever it takes to protect and inflate the value of his brand and his crew?
If your concept of good radio has de-evolved to the point where you'll be disappointed if they can't talk dirty, then you're sort of missing the point about what makes Bubba's show so damn good. It's not the bits, it's not the phone calls, it's not even the parodies - although they are all very well-written. It's the comradery between the guys on the show. They aren't just guys showing up to do a job. They enjoy working with each other, you can tell, and they're a lot of fun to listen to, especially when they are busting balls. And they can still bust balls on terrestrial radio. I for one can't wait to hear more. |

I don't the Sirius only fans will get hosed with a lame show because the crew is tired, if anything the Sirius afternoon show will be the one to listen to. what can Bubba and crew call the testicle radio show when referring to it on Sirius and vice versa. Howard had "eh eh eh" |

Well said. There are terrestrial shows on Sirius that I've enjoyed listening to. Of course Sirius is a better medium because of the freedom it offers. But a truly talented radio host can work around terrestrial radio restrictions and deliver a good show. And I have no doubt that Bubba will do well.
You make another good point about fans of the show not wanting Bubba to succeed. Ever since Bubba's Cox deal was announced there seems to have been a bit of a backlash against Bubba here. I even believe some posters have said they'll stop listening. How can you be a Bubba fan and not want him to succeed? A lot of people seem to feel "betrayed" by Bubba. They should keep in mind that Bubba is doing two shows a day so he can still be on Sirius. It's clear to me that Bubba appreciates his Sirius audience and knows how great satellite radio is. I'm sure he's more than happy to be on Sirius as long as they keep signing him to another contract.
As for the terrestrial show, no one is being forced to listen. But I'm very curious about how Bubba's new show will sound and I'll be tuning in on 1/8 to listen. |

Even though Bubba and Cowhead talked a bit about Sirius and Howard on Cowhead's show, Bubba did avoid referring to Sirius on his test show. He did refer to it as "satellite" a bit though. |

I think Bubba's missing a big market on iTunes. It appears that Sirius won't let him sell his satellite show there, but maybe Cox would be more understanding if he sold the terrestrial show. I for one would pay money to be able to put Bubba's show on my iPod, and that includes his older Clearchannel stuff. As a newer listener, it kills me that I've missed out on so many years of good radio.
At least I have the K5 - that makes up for some of it. |
