Ok, I am not bashing Ferrall at all. I love his show.

But, he is constantly talking about the SNY sports show that he is on. Constant plugs, constand talk about it. He seems to have no problem. (which is the way it should be)

But, it is obvious that Bubba can't say shit about his new morning show.

Why is this going down like this?
Redworm
$20 says it's because of "the stupid fuckin irish prick" at corporate!
Fred The Midget
Ferrall's SNY show is on television. Bubba's AM/FM show is on radio. Bubba's terrestrial radio show is technically competing with Sirius.

Competeing with HOWARD?!?
Bubba is anything at Sirius because of Howard. 90% of regular Bubba listeners listen because he's on Howard's channel. I listen everyday. I am a fan. All because he's on Howard's channel.
Look at the number of posts here at SFN that the Bubba section gets. Look at the sheer number of daily posts compared to Howard related subjects. 8 million subscribers on Sirius and I'm sure 75% of them are due to Howard. Did Bubba bring 1%? I really like the BTLS show, but I'm not giving up my subscription no matter where he goes. I'm feeling "worked like a mark" by Bubba.
They are still selling the K-5 deal, and they were talking back in September that they would sell out by October. Bubba is aways looking for a shortcut, a deal, an easy way to get ahead.
I hope he doesn't sell us all out so he can be the big fish in stagnant pond that is terestrial radio.

The reason that the Bubba show is going through troubles is because everyone at Sirius has the same pompous Howard is God attitude that you have. Believe me, there are tons of Bubba fans that don't listen to Howard, and didn't buy Sirius because of Howard, but rather for the Bubba show. Unfortunately, you and the exec's at Sirius won't know that number until Bubba is done @ Sirius.

The Howard show may be great, but believe me the Bubba hardcore trucker/redneck audience doesn't want to listen a bunch of guys from NY talk about anything but wrestling, racing and sports.

SNY is a tv show not in competition with Sirius.

I normaly listen to Howard in the morning on the drive to work. Once I get to the office I go with Howard on the Sirius internet feed. This morning I went with Bubba on the Bone feed. So make that 1 less person that was listening to Sirius this morning and I probably will listen to Bubba each morning. I also know that I can catch Howard in Replay through out the day before 3pm.

Just curious if anyone else made that change this morning.
BCStel
SIRIUS does not want to let Bubba draw people away from Howard's morning program.
Brent's Bong
I actually feel the same as the guy above. I am listening to Bubba during his show on the internet in the morning and then listening to Howard during his replay during the day and then Bubba in the afternoon on Sirius. I am just hopeful that his afternoon show doesn't suffer due to having to do 2 shows a day.
azzkickin68
You know this is going to sound stupid but maybe Bubba is trying to show Sirius that he can draw the numbers. Maybe he is going to try and pry people away from howard on sirius to check out his show and try to beat Howard. I understand no one can be better then Howard but he might be proving to corporate that he can draw the people and numbers for his next round of negotiation's.

but that would mean they would admit that bubba has a ton of fans and would have egg on their face for not showing him the money

It doesn't matter if you are listening to Howard or Bubba's testicle-less show, as long as you are still paying for your sub.

Maybe he's not talking about it much is because he knows most of us don't care and would rather hear his usual show. Or its the corporate overthinkers quashing him...

When Howard put on Bubba's show this morning, Bubba came out of the song and gave the station ID, followed by the Website, but instead of giving the radio's website, which I expected to hear, he said www.btls.com. Fm listeners that go there and see the crazier shit they do in the afternoons may be tempted to subscribe to Sirius without him "promoting the competition".
GRAYHEAD
The fact is that Sirius should only care about subscribers and not who they listen to. If you are so much of a Bubba fan that you want to listen to him in the morning, wouldn't you keep your subscription so you can listen to Bubba in the afternoon?
Matt Serra
Howard does not have anything to worry about. He played Bubba's terresterial show this morning.
zman
If anyone thinks that television and radio don't compete against each other then you are being very narrow-minded. They are both entertainment mediums.

I believe it is because Ferrall is with Don Buchwald and he is playing the right game with Sirius management.

Bubba = renegade in Tampa.

I love em both but Bubba is getting the shit end of the stick by having to hide and be secretive about everything.
tgr49
I listen to Howard until I get to the office, then it is Bubba. I came to Siruis for NASCAR and SEC football, them fell in love with the BRN.
papajayzel
let scotty handle all the sports. hearing bubba and hatley talk about football makes me reach for the remote, post haste.
madhi19
You know if it true that the over thinkers don't want Bubba to talk about is cox job they really prove that they are idiot and stupid. Because if you piss off Bubba he will not talk about cox on Sirius but he will not talk about Sirius on cox. I mean the assholes don't even gets that it work both way! And while Sirius will not lose any subscribers because Bubba talk about cox they will get a flow of new subscribers if Bubba talk about Sirius and how dirty he is there. Come on! How dumb you got to be. The idiot who made a point out of this does not deserve to work for Sirius anymore he just cost Sirius a god know how many new subscribers.
So Hard Done By
The dirty little secret is very very few people buy portable or aftermarket satelite radio, so the promotion on Cox doesn't matter much. People buy new cars that have the radios pre-installed, they get a free trial period and some of those people get hooked.

And save for a few supermarks who will follow their heroes like the rabid shut ins they are, the self promotion that Howard and Bubba do is bullshit.

People turn the dial until they find something they can tolerate and then they leave it there. Over time they grow more and more attached.

Howard may be the best, but don't let the promotion fool you there are guys who could get close given the same resources to work with. Maybe keep 90% of the audience.

Same with Bubba. You don't think if Bubba left they couldn't find a guy who appealed to the same demographic and keep 90% of the audience?

Same with Ferrall.

And those guys would bring in their supermarks that would compensate for the supermarks that left with Bubba or Ferrall or whoever.

So a lot of you threaten to cancel Sirius if Bubba, Howard or Ferrall left because that is the 'cool' thing to do on fan boards, show your love to the guy who says he loves you as long as you buy his $20 t-shirt. In truth, few of you would leave. Some of you would start listening to the new guy and actually dig it more. Others would find other channels they enjoyed that made it worth it.

Dude thats dumb.... All Bubba has to do is hang in there for a few years .. Face it Howard is for sure retiring, I dont listen to Bubba at all But theres no way Howard is comming back .. Father time is creeping on Howard and he has to spend his dough, Bubbas next up in line to be the #1 talk show on Sirius... Theres no one left really .. My caddy has xm and O & A show is god awful..

Exactly. And the number of people switching over to Bubba's morning show is probably not that many so Sirius really shouldn't be worried. And Sirius got plugged a bunch of times today and Cox doesn't seem to be that freaked out about cross promotion like Sirius is.
jeepguy05
Bubba's morning show sounded like "Morning Zoo" radio to me. I don't know why he would want to go back to that shit-money or not. I'm also suprised Howard isn't smoldering mad inside that Bubba is on mornings even if it is only in 2 markets. Anyone remember how he felt when Dee Snider went on a morning show against him-he felt like he was being backstabbed. It did sound like Howard and the crew were giving lighthearted digs in too.

I hope Howard balls up like at NBC and teams up with Bubba to f with corprate Sirius. this is BS that sirius didn't pay him to begin with. Your #2 man should not be on testical radio. The future of sirius is with Howard and Bubba is Howards boy. Sirius needs to get back on board and f the merger and put XM out.
