Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett led all players in voting and Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant led the Western Conference, as the starters for the 2008 NBA All-Star Game were announced on Thursday.

Allen Iverson, meanwhile, rallied to become an All-Star starter again. Iverson surged from behind in the fan voting to earn a starting spot in next month's game in New Orleans.

Iverson and forward Carmelo Anthony give the Denver Nuggets two starters in the Feb. 17 game. They were joined on the Western Conference squad by Houston Rockets center Yao Ming and Tim Duncan of San Antonio -- who will become a nine-time All-Star starter.

Joining Garnett (2,399,148 votes) on the Eastern Conference's starting lineup will be fellow forward LeBron James of Cleveland along with Magic center Dwight Howard and guards Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat and Jason Kidd of the New Jersey Nets.

Iverson rallied to pass Tracy McGrady in the final weeks of voting to earn his first start since moving to the Western Conference early last season. He started seven straight All-Star games while playing for Philadelphia, but fell short last year after the 76ers dealt him to the Nuggets in December 2006.

Why is it that the All Star voting pisses me off every year? I know it's a complete joke, yet I still get bothered by it. I guess it just blows my mind that the NBA still goes by fan voting to pick the starters. The best was the year that Grant Hill didn't even play and got voted a starter. Look at how many votes behind Nash and Paul are.

Guards: Kobe Bryant (LAL) 2,004,940; Allen Iverson (Den) 1,203,152; Tracy McGrady (Hou) 1,192,742; Steve Nash (Phx) 1,174,125; Chris Paul (NO) 563,525;

You mean like he did in the playoffs in Cleveland in a game that the Yankees LOST & he left with his entourage early? You mean that hat?

Boston will be in the Finals, I hope its against the Suns that will be a great series... If they end up playing the Spurs it will be boring ...

I was thinking the same thing, but it appears Petey was just using the original headline.

I do believe he would have had a stroke if had to type Kevin Garnett's name in association with anything positive :D
