KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks hired Mike Solari as offensive line coach Thursday, two days after coach Mike Holmgren said he was going to replace Bill Laveroni.
Solari spent the past 11 seasons with Kansas City Chiefs, the first nine as offensive line coach and last two as offensive coordinator.

The Chiefs fired Solari on New Year's Day after Kansas City gained just 1,248 yards rushing this season, the team's worst total in a non-strike year.

Solari, a graduate of San Diego State, was the tight ends and assistant offensive line coach from 1992-96 with San Francisco before he joined the Chiefs. Solari began with the 49ers at the same time Holmgren left San Francisco to become the head coach of the Packers.

Uh, they might need another quality offensive lineman or two. A new offensive line coach won't be enough.

When you have the best home field advantage in the league, you don't exactly have to be a top-notch road team.

Another division title and playoff birth. 5 straight baby. Only the Colts have a longer playoff streak going.

Then you have a 50-50 chance rather than a 99% chance at home. What happens when you have home field advantage for the playoffs? Automatic Superbowl.

It's one of the biggest football news stories of the day. This is a sports forum. At least it's supposed to be.

It will come my friend. It will come. The good thing is that the Seahawks have a legitimate shot every year as they are in the playoffs every year. The NFL is the most difficult league to win a championship. Just look at recent history and how the loser of the Superbowl is never in the playoffs the following year, with the exception of the Seahawks of course.
