It didn't contradict my theory. The GAME was played in 2008. They won the game played IN 2008, but they are not the champions of the 2008 season.

Sorry Ultra, but 1 minute of quick searching will show you that you're dead wrong. Simply search for all Superbowl champions and you'll see how the chronology goes. Yes the season starts the year before but the trophy ALWAYS takes the date from when the game is played.

This may help you idiots figure out WHY the superbowl trophy winners are named the way they are...

The first figure is a ROMAN Numeral (look it up) and the second series of numbers is the year in which the game is played. Hence the naming convention. :rolleyes:

Games took place in both 07 and 08 therefore it is commonly referred to as the 2007-08 season. Just like next year I will refer to is as the 2008-09 season. You walk into any place to make a bet or offshore books if the season has games that take place in two different years this is how you refer to it. Example here:

And over half the NBA's season is played the following year, so you can really only use that 07/08 stuff for the NBA.
