| Obama won the Maine caucuses easily, more than 46,000 participated including 4000 who used absentee ballots, crushing the record of 17,000 from 2004. 29,000 more, think Bush and his insane policies haven't pissed people off big time? Obama is a fucking rock star, and Howard might want to get informed when talking about him for a change. He kicked Clintons ass, big time, in a number of states this weekend. These people in Maine stood in lines that took hours to get through, in winter storms dumping snow on them, the Republicans might as well quit spending money on this election. |

Ohio and Texas, and possibly PA. They hold actual primaries, millions of voters, polls open all day so people who work can vote instead of 18 year olds living at Mom and Dad's home. They can cut classes to caucus, their parents can't cut work to caucus. So onto actual primaries in those three states with millions of primary voters vs. a thousand in caucus.
Plus, I'm not voting for a half-monkey and his monkey wife.
Plus,Plus, Hillary won Cali,Ny, Tenn, Arizona, NJ and Mass. the states that count. |

Howard is severely uninformed on Obama.
He supports Hillary because he remembers the economy being good in the 90s.
but the economy was going to be good for any president... the internet/tech boom was going to happen no matter what.
honestly it's for the best he doesn't support Obama... stern endorsements tend to fall flat (see also, john kerry) |

Do the senior voters, who the majority of which have been supporting Clinton, cut classes as well or leave mom and dad's home to go vote?
Way to fail. Too bad your vote counts as much as mine. |

Obama's not a muslim, dumbass.
And...
Michigan and Florida's delegates won't be seated, so Hillary's victory won't count for anything.
If she attempts to get them seated, there's going to be Hell in the Democratic party. |

Its easy to win a state dumbass when your the only person on the balot in Michigan, as Hilary was. In Florida Hilary only won on her name CLINTON because they were not able to campaign once people understand the issues and vote on them it will be a different result. What don't you get Obama dominates any caucus because its a smaller scale and Obama's supporters are able to convince more people to go to their side. Maybe you should learn a thing or two about politics, and start reading the news paper before you open your mouth, prick. |

Yes, two of "are" worst "enemys" (So many other misspellings, my heads going to explode. Yeah, these are the idiots we need to let vote).
The GOP is constantly proving how incredibly stupid and hypocritical they are. They speak of no handouts, no Affirmative Action, EARNING YOUR OWN WAY, etc. Yet... they have no problem voting for a complete moron that had everything handed to him, including his entry into the Ivy League.
Obama got into Harvard by earning it and was elected President of the HLR; the same can be said about Bill Clinton's rise (too easy) to prominence. Both of these men earned every God damned thing in life, yet it seems the GOP prefers to cheer on molly-coddled shitheads who cannot relate to them, and have no concept of what it is like to work for what you have in life. It makes no fucking sense.
And the GOP ought to be fucking embarrassed by trying to push this "Muslim" thing. As if the NeoCons who took control like starving jackals for the sole purpose (pre-9-11) of starting wars left and right, have done sooo much to improve this nation's standing. It's no longer a matter of "image." It's in absolute disrepair, and if you honestly believe we don't need to show the rest of the world that we're willing to make a dramatic change, then fuck you. If you go overseas, wipe your ass with the dollar because it's cheaper than buying toilet paper. |

Oh, there's a mature position. The fact is Clinton carries a lot of baggage that Obama doesn't have, and he's got a better plan on health care, among other things. He's a squeaky clean candidate with no known skeletons in the closet. If more people think like you and end up passing on the best qualified candidate in this race to make a change in this country, that would be a damn shame. And voting another Republican into the White House right now would be a fucking travesty. |

Obama doesn't have a chance of getting elected president. America is too racist of a nation. But being a Republican, I am really pulling for Obama to win the Democrat nomination. That would practically gaurantee a Republican victory in the election. I think the dems know this and they're not going to choose him for their candidate.
What's funny is that this is the Democrats best(easiest) shot at the whitehouse in 8 years and all they have to offer is a woman and a black man. ROFLMAO! |

Obama may be a Christian, but, do you know the church he has worshipped in for 20 years?
The Trinity United Church of Christ, led and founded by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., who Obama considers an inspiration.
Do some research on Rev. Wright Jr. In his sermons he often preaches about fighting against White Supremacy and how white people are repressing black folks. He was going to go to some rallies for Obama, but his sermons went public and he was mysteriously no where to be seen. The Obama camp said that he was media shy. The real reason was that he was seen as a racially divisive figure and Obama distanced himself from his "inspiration".
For 20 years this guy was OK for Obama to associate himself with. Now that he's running for President and needs the white vote, he swept this "inspiration" under the carpet.
Obama is a phony. All smoke and mirrors. |

Sorry, modeams. I'm not cynical, I'm realistic and my eyes are wide open. It is a fact that Obama has been a member of this church for 20 years and the sermons of the Rev. The official website is for policy, you know, things he would do if elected commander in chief. And also you can see what he thinks about a plethora of issues without having it filtered into a 2 minute news story and decide for yourself :gs:
Or maybe you could link me to this lovely news story about Rev. Wright? :hhh:
Did you reserve the same sort of skepticism the past two elections? You know we are just finishing up with 8 years of "Jesus is my role model" , right?
There is nothing wrong with questioning the background of a candidate and the religious and corporate allegiances he may or may not have made in the past. But religion, thank god, is not part of his verbiage, nor should it be. I'd worry more about the constant pressure to implement Intelligent Design as an "alternative" to Evolution.
Look at the article by Peggy Noonan in the WSJ on Obama. |

Well, all I can say is that I'm glad you didn't raise Barack Obama. You're essentially telling your own kids to aim low because of the idiots in this country. Fuck the idiots who look at the shallow reasons not to vote for someone. The media has created this perception that Obama can't win. There are people who wouldn't normally vote Dem who ARE voting Obama if he is the candidate. I think Hillary is the one that can't win. I always liked Bill, as President (yes, what a horrible time it was to live here in the 90s with an economic surplus and a strong dollar - oh, the humanity!), but people have such a low opinion of her for whatever reason. They're passionate in their hatred for the Clintons as the rest of us normal people in our hatred of Bush.
Obama is bringing out voters in every demo. He's refreshing. It took me this long before I realized I would vote for him. I was never a supporter of his, so I'm new to the bandwagon... once I realized McCain was it for the GOP. Christ, a man who actually makes Bush look like an improvement!
I'm for change and I'm for showing the global community (a world we desperately NEED to survive - deal with it because arrogance and ignorance can't be used as currency), that this nation also wants to purge itself of this disastrous ideology that has sunk us so low. I think Obama shows the world that we also want drastic change. |

It's not just about religion. But, if Obama has associated himself and has been inspired by a rev. preaching racial divisiveness, then his character comes into question. If Obama wrote in his autobiography about the "solace he found in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against his mother's race", then certain questions should be raised. If he is now disassociating himself from the Rev. Wright Jr. because he may offend the whites, then it makes me want to know more about what Obama may not want the public to know.
Since we know everything about Hillary Clinton, good and bad, then I think it's only fair to know everything about Obama, other than he's "the chosen one", of course.
This is not the movie The Candidate, where someone was chosen because he spoke well , looked the part and had charisma. |

You're just a douchy republican shill pretending that Obama's background 'offends' you, when in reality you've pulled the lever for Shit-for-brains George Bush twice and will pull the lever this time for whatever republican candidate is nominated.
Go turn on Limbaugh so you'll know what opinion to have next. |

Just keep attacking the drivers' license idea. At least, it shows he's thinking.
Truthfully, I'm against that plan, too. Still, that is one of the few negatives. All in all, this is the best candidate that has come along in years.
I mentioned in another thread about speaking with a friend of mine from Hamburg. She says the Obama candidacy is exciting the European community as well. They believe Obama will bring about discussion and ideas. If he does nothing else, those alone are two things Bush was never able to accomplish.
So, do the math. If Obama does NOTHING, he has already done 200% more than Bush has done. |

And one last thing, zimmie, as governor of Texas do you think he tried to protect "your" borders at all? Course not, you see the MinuteMen can get all the press, while the illegals are brought in by the 16 wheeler.
See, for the conservative, its instant gratification. Walmart is cheap, but we pay for their employees medicare bills later on. The cookie cutter homes in Plano are 30k less because they have hired Juan and Carlos from the local Home Depot. And we all end up paying for their childrens schooling and ER visit.
You think any of these people vote for the democratic party? :jj:
Good on you zimmie ;) |

Quote: Originally posted by Nibbler Obama may be a Christian, but, do you know the church he has worshipped in for 20 years?
I see no problem with inspiring people to buck back and fight those who repress them.

I don't think even that many people vote. In fact, I'm almost positive the voting percentage is nowhere near 49%.
Quote: Originally posted by Nibbler It's not just about religion. But, if Obama has associated himself and has been inspired by a rev. preaching racial divisiveness, then his character comes into question. |
So he listened to someone who preached something. It doesn't necessarily mean Obama shares all those beliefs. It could mean, however, that he once aligned himself with a source of power, or a source of pride, which many people who are oppressed wander towards to help ease the pain caused by oppression.
And "oppression" can be defined as "a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against his mother's race."
I wouldn't be too hard on someone who's come out of that experience the way he has. He's the most inclusive candidate we've ever seen; he's even opened up to gay couples too; something considered political suicide.
BTW, I voted for Hillary.
A good website to help Dems decides is select2008.com. They let you pick your candidates and then ask you questions. Based on your answers, it tells you which candidate more closely resembles your position/beliefs.
Check it out. |

While I agree with FlaFlaFlunkie that inspiring people to rise above oppression is a good thing, I fail to see the "good" in Rev. Wright Jr's preachings. There's alot of hate in those words of inspiration. Obama has had a 20 year long association with Rev Wright Jr. I can't believe that Obama would stay with someone that long , call him an inspiration and even title a book after one of his sermons if he didn't share the same ideals. |

The current President is insignificant. He is on his way out. But before we elect our future President, wouldn't it be wise to learn from past mistakes and delve a little deeper into all aspects of the candidates ideologies instead of just taking their word for it and believing what they want us to believe? |

Ya know what's cute? Obama is winning VERY white states. This racial outrage is only a deciding factor in states that a REPUBLICAN is going to win whether the Dem is white, black, or purple...
CA, NY, FL, IL, PA, OH, and MO will easily vote for Obama, and coincidentally enough those are the states that a Democrat must win to be elected.
I love stupid fucks who don't even understand the electoral system.
NOTE: To blunt the stupid reply that "there are racists everywhere"....yeah, no shit. Notice that I said a deciding factor(READ: a factor that influences enough people to tip the scales.)
Try as you might, you'll never convince me that there is more racism in the north + west than in the south.
And no, anecdotal stories about "this guy you know" in NYC don't count. |

Learn from the mistakes made by electing some one like Bush. Just because a candidate tosses around words like "uniter" and "change", has a certain amount of jovial charisma and likes to tell jokes, doesn't make him the best choice to run the country. Haven't we learned that by now? |
