According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox were aware that Curt Schilling's shoulder injury could sideline him for a significant length of time prior to signing him to a one-year, $8 million contract.
Schilling has said that he wasn't aware of the injury prior to signing the deal, but the newspaper reports that the Red Sox tried to get Schilling to sign a half-season contract like the one that Roger Clemens played under with the Yankees last year. Instead, Schilling's status for this season is in serious doubt and the Red Sox are on the hook for the entire $8 million, as the contract isn't insured.

| They could use him come playoff time but as far as the season goes they'll be fine. Buccholz could hopefully go about 160 innings or so & don't rule them out of packaging Crisp with a minor leaguer or two to pick up a middle of the rotation type of guy. |

I know, I'm just saying... you don't even need him for October... unless you think the Yankees are a real thread come ALCS. ;) |

yeah, they will be fine.
Who knows with Josh as before last year, he got fucking LIT up in Boston.
Everyone knows what Dice K is now, he is a # 4 or 5 pitcher
Wake is 50 and hit or miss
And what else do they have? |

I would take their rotation over NY's anyday.....I know its hard for you to give credit to any Boston player, so I'll let the Josh comment slide. It was Dice K's first year in a new league. I GUARANTEE we will see a different pitcher this year. Wake is iffy but always brings them 12+ wins. Lester and Buckholz is still young, but one pitched a no hitter last year and the other was a world series game 4 winner
Beckett
Dice K
Lester
Wakefield
Buckholz |

WRONG, Josh had an ERA over 5.00 in 2006 and led the AL with 36 home runs allowed
At first D Gay was doing well, but once teams seen him a few times he was average
Lester is a huge question mark
Wake could easily shit the bed and will not win more then 14 games
And how many games has Buck played in MLB, including a full season?
I rest my case... |

I rest my case... | That's just stupid. Why look at Becketts' "06 when he obviously adjusted to have a Cy Young worthy season & a fantastic playoff in '07. That makes no sense at all. Dice-K will hopefully improve on a pretty decent rookie year. He did win 15 & pitch & strikeout 200 +. Why wouldn't he improve with a another year in our culture & another year in the AL? He obviously has very good stuff. Wakefield did win 17 last year remember. Lester looks like he could be a pretty decent pitcher, also a much needed lefty & as far as Buccholz goes he's pitched less than 2 fewer innings than the guy you Yankee fans are hanging your hats on, Chamberlin. The Sox pitching, top to bottom is still better than the Yankees. Do you really think they can close that gap of .6 runs or so because Schilling went down? The only thing that'll do is give Ellsbury some competition for Rookie of the Year. |

Sox starting staff is just as questionable as the Yankee staff as the Yanks have a better lineup.
Josh tends to have up and then down years, this is a down year
Dice Gay started out great because, no one seen him, as the year when on, they were hitting him pretty hard.
Wake had a solid start to the year and then slid down greatly, hell, wasn't he left off the playoof roster?
Lester is unproven and will need to go a full season, something that will be difficult.
Back had a great, what 4 games in MLB? 4 games? hummmm
It will be close again as the Yanks have way better O but the pen may hold teh key....... |

| Sox will be fine. They have 4 starting pitchers 27 & under & a bunch of prospects & a centerfielder to deal. They have options. |

It'd be nice but that's not gonna' happen. They could pick up a middle of the rotation guy, if needed & they'd be fine. |
