NYT is going to run a story Thursday that confirms that Clinton insiders do not expect to catch Obama in pledged delegates, which means their plan is to woo enough superdelegates to cheese her way to the nomination.
This will make the Democratic party look really bad if it works (which it probably won't).
I just wonder how much damage she is willing to do to the party in order to regain the White House. |

Knowing the Clintons and how they threw African Americans under the bus to divide the Democrat electorate among racial lines and thus woo the Latino vote in Los Angeles (note one of her supporters came out before Super Tuesday and said that many Latinos have a distrust of black people, and when asked about that comment she didn't refute it), they will stop at nothing.
The next logical step for the Clintons will be getting the delegates from Michigan and Florida seated and their votes counted as is. |

This has always been her plan, but I don't think it's going to work. There has been talk by the DNC (http://www.macombdaily.com/stories/...loc_n4001.shtml) about holding caucuses at a later date. This would be great for Obama considering his caucus sucess. This is also a good indication of who the DNC wants to actually win since they're picking a format that favors Obama. |

If they had a re-do, they would hold a caucus only because it is far cheaper to do than to hold a traditional election.
Also, there is the question of who picks up the tab - the DNC or each state. |

Like how fucked up it was how many seats they won in 2006, or how fucked up it is that whoever gets the nomination has to run against a guy that even his own party hates....McCain, that's just fucking great. |

Yes, they do.
And they are underestimating the Clintons. I keep hearing "Democrat strategists" on cable saying that it is inconceivable that either party would go to court or force superdelegates to settle it at the convention.
These morons sat through 8 years of rule under the Clintons and still have no understanding of what they will do to retain power. |

Yep, this election should be a lock, and instead, it looks like the DNC is trying to throw it to McCain. I'm starting not to blame the Republicans for most of the shit going on; at least they come out and say it: We'll stay in Iraq for 100 years, we hate homos, rich people and corporations shouldn't pay any taxes. They Democrats say they are against this stuff, but they go along with it anyway. |

Considering Obama wasn't even ON THE BALLOT in Michigan, that seems pretty ridiculous.
I agree that the Clintons will do anything to gain power, but if the Democratic party pushes the black guy with the most delegates out of the way, so the white folks can get to the White House -- it'll be the biggest election rape in memory.
No way does that happen.
I still say the only way Hillary wins is big wins in OH/TX/PA, and then lots of favors to superdelegates.
Even then, it'll be good theater to watch them to take the back door to the nomination. |

unless the clintons have obama sniped Hillary is not getting the nomination.
Vacate you're trippin' if you still believe otherwise. |

I don't wonder so much about the party as the country. McCain has taken positions almost identical to Bush to get this far, so this Democrat squabbling is going to give us 30 years of an extreme right Supreme Court, and 100 years (if China will finance it) in Iraq. If if goes into June, I would actually like to see Obama be a statesman, and drop out, cause you can see in Hillary's eyes, she will burn down the world to get that nomination. |

Hillary doesn't care about the Democratic Party or the Nation. She wants power and will do absolutely anything to get it. The scarey thing is that she's a hundred times smarter than Bush the Chimp. Imagine the damage that stupid fuck would've done with half a brain! |

Damn, I hope you're wrong. McCain is a loose cannon.
Regarding a more pleasant topic: Did you go to the Willie Nelson concert yet? He did two great shows here last week. |

Thanks for the info.
I won't comment on Manilow. Actually, I took a girl to a Manilow show back in the 70's. All I got out of the deal was a handjob but, as much as I hate to admit it, the show was damned good.
Can I be forgiven for admitting to enjoy Wayne Newton in Vegas? |

Wayne, while not my cup of tea, is an incredibly talented motherfucker, no doubt.
I've never had any interest in Manilow - he sucked on American Idol. That's all I have on him. |

Manilow got old, no doubt. He had a great show in the 70's...live, at least. I never bought his albums.
