Never had a problem thus far but a few SHOWS as of late are giving me the 'Cannot record copyright material' deal. . .such as the Baldwin phoner, 97 bday SHOW part 4, mothers and daughters and best of 2-11 2-14. . .

It could be a problem with your DVD-R. I don't think that should be happening.

What kind of burner are you using?
What source are you using for the shows?
What application are you using (if computer based)?

More info you can give the better answer you'll get.

Check your Sony booklet that came with the VHS/DVD recorder out to see what type of discs you can use to actually record on. I believe your answer will be indicated in that manual. If not, then I would be only guessing as to how to give you a better answer.

i just came to start a thread abou this

i have a sony dvd recorder also

so far i could not record howard's 1996 birthday show part 4

and i just had a problem recording one of the daily shows they put up as a "on vacation" show

my older sony records these shows just fine, it's just my new sony that has this copy protection bull shit

i knew already that you can not record from premium channels but i've been recording howard tv for 2 years now

if they start putting this copy protection bull shit on it, i'll cancel and start downloading like probably most other people are doing anyway

from what i read at the audio/video forums, only new sony's have this "feature" and it's only if the cable provider puts the flag on certain "protected" content

i might have to go out and buy a new recorder that isn't a sony or they sell this box that let's you get around it

it's not your blanks, it's your new sony

i think the cable companies are "experimenting" with copy protecting howard tv because it's only a show here and there that's "protected"

i hope this doesn't become the norm but i have a bad feeling that it will all soon be copy protected and my new sony dvd recorder will be pretty much worthless for recording howard anyway
