as with anything there will always be exceptions to the rule.

I honestly can't complain about my situation because I'm lucky enough to work in an industry that's booming right now... but I have friends who are losing their homes... and a lot of other stuff... and groceries and gas are more expensive than they've ever been for me.

So I look at the statistics and know that the economy overall is not doing great... even though I'm ok.
Kill Van Kull
No, no, no..the economy is doing fine. Ignore what the expert economists say and just keeping repeating it just as Rush and Sean do, just repeat it like Rush and Sean, repeat, repeat...like NCMike and zimmie...repeat...

BTW zimmie, karma's a real bitch. Think about that when things aren't so "great," because that time for you is coming. Remember Holy Elvis with his "great" job peddling sub-prime mortgages out of a kiosk at the mall?

Where do you think that "great" republican/hater of social programs went off to? The unemployment line no doubt.

Arrogance equals stupidity and stupid people tend to lose shit. Be prepared.

Employers Slash Jobs by Most in 5 Years
By JEANNINE AVERSA – 1 hour ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — Employers slashed 63,000 jobs in February, the most in five years and the starkest sign yet that the country is heading dangerously toward recession or is in one already.

The Labor Department's report, released Friday, also indicated that the nation's unemployment rate dipped from 4.9 percent in January to 4.8 percent last month as hundreds of thousands of people — perhaps discouraged by their prospects — left the civilian labor force.

Job losses were widespread, with hefty cuts coming from construction, manufacturing, retailing, financial services and a variety of professional and business services. Those losses swamped gains elsewhere, including education and health care, leisure and hospitality and the government.

I appreciate your sarcasm... but it's apparent you don't want to hold any of your leaders accountable for their actions... and actions like it or not have consequences... as you can easily see...

Iraq war hits U.S. economy: Nobel winner

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Iraq war has contributed to the U.S. economic slowdown and is impeding an economic recovery, Nobel-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz says.

Meanwhile, the U.S. government is severely underestimating the cost of the war, Stiglitz and co-author Linda Bilmes write in their book, "The Three Trillion Dollar War" (W.W. Norton), due to be published on Monday.

The nearly 5-year-old war, once billed as virtually paying for itself through increased Iraqi oil exports, has cost the U.S. Treasury $845 billion directly.

"It used to be thought that wars are good for the economy. No economist really believes that anymore," Stiglitz said in an interview.

Stiglitz and Bilmes argue the true costs are at least $3 trillion under what they call an ultraconservative estimate, and could surpass the cost of World War Two, which they put at $5 trillion after adjusting for inflation.

The direct costs exclude interest on the debt raised to fund the war, health care costs for veterans coming home, and replacing the destroyed hardware and degraded operational capacity caused by the war.

In addition, there are costs not accounted for in the budget such as rising oil prices and social and macroeconomic costs, which the book details.

Bush isn't effectual enough to be the cause of our problems - he's a symptom.

I think the real cause of all of our problems, when you get right down to the core of it, is religion. All religions all over the world are responsible for every evil that exists today, and I'll tell you why:

If all people, everywhere, woke up and realized that we're on our own here, and we, as a race, are the only ones responsible for what happens here on earth, maybe, MAYBE, we will begin to work together to make this a place where can all live in peace and prosperity.

As long as we're convinced that a better place is waiting for us in the sky (a more useless or stupid belief I cannot imagine), there is no incentive to make earth liveable for all of us.

So, we fight over our limited resources and space, all the while never realizing that the fighting itself costs more than simply sharing the resources and space. It's just stupid.

But to the religious (like Bush), that doesn't matter, because this is just a pit stop on the way to glory - a dirty waiting room that's here to be abused, vandalized, and then abandoned by god's chosen, while us heathens are stuck here to make the best of whatever they see fit to leave behind.

What a bunch of selfish cocksuckers, no?

It's not always a bad thing... but if we continue on the current course it's only going to get worse... CHANGE is necessary.
