They said there was a pic of Carl doing his backflip at Vegas and you could see that the oil tank cover was off...Has anybody seen this?
All the teams were E-mailing it to each other they said :p |

| these guys talk a big game but i wouldnt believe it till i saw it and i havent seen it and checked every site like scenedaily.com, thatsracin.com, jayski.com and found nothing. i think the teams are just talking a bunch of bull |

The picture does exist, The other day one of the guys on the NASCAR channel had it in the studio and used it to convince his partner that the infraction happened and why its a fire safety violation.
From what I understand its not an oil tank. Its a cover that goes over the oil resevior and is one of the things that helps hermitically seal off the interior of the car from an engine fire. When the cover is off it leaves an opening for the air rushing under the car to escape up thru the interior of the car and out the window.
Im not an engineer but from what ive gleaned from all the reports is that if some of the air rushing under the front spoiler that pushes up against the bottom of the car having nowhere to go until it goes out the back goes up thru the floor up front and out the window instead its creates about 10% more downforce.
Its kind of like having an overflow/relief valve to spill off a small amount of the air rushing under trying to push the car up off the pavement. |

Yeah thats what they said it would do, give ya 10% more downforce..... Who know's, but they hammered them for the infraction..... :) |
