It would appear so.....McSame campaign insider and scumbag lobbyist extraordinare, Charlie Black's company United Technologies, just tried to buy Diebold for $3 billion.
What a coinky-dink.
Of course the usual goose-stepping morons in here won't bat an eye that a defense contractor is seeking to buy the company that produces our voting machines.
Ike spins in his grave.....God Bless the G:hitler:P.....
:hitler::ps:
A New Role for Defense Contractors?: Counting Votes
By The Editorial Board
There has long been good reason to worry about Diebold voting machines. Many are “black box” electronic machines that do not produce paper records, so voters have to accept the results they report on faith.
Diebold, however, has not inspired much faith. It has been accused of illegally using uncertified software on its voting machines, exposing elections to possible tampering, and of making glitchy machines that misrecord votes.
Then there’s the little matter of the company’s CEO signing a letter before the 2004 election — in which his machines would be counting many of the votes — saying that he was committed to helping deliver Ohio to President Bush. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpa...750C0A9609C8B63
(The Onion has a hilarious video up on Youtube, a mock news report about Diebold accidently releasing the results of the 2008 presidential election before the voting occurs. View it here.)
Now, there’s a new reason to worry that Diebold plays such a large role in presidential elections. United Technologies has made an unsolicited $3 billion bid to take over Diebold.
United Technologies is one of the nation’s leading defense contractors, which means it has an enormous corporate interest in who gets elected President.
When we heard the news, we couldn’t help thinking of President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s famous warning, in his farewell address, about the dangerously increasing influence of the “military-industrial complex.” (Watch a video of a key part of the speech here.)
Eisenhower told the American people that:
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
Given his blunt warning, we suspect that Eisenhower would be appalled to learn that a defense contractor could be counting the votes in the next presidential election.

Not to be a total douche here, but the most likely "stolen" election that might occur soon is Hillary stealing it from Obama.
This Superdelegate mess is making the Dems look really fucking bad. |

The funny part is, no election was "stolen" in the first place.
Gore did not win Florida because Democrat voters were stupid and did not know how to vote. |

Its the new tactical "fad" for the reich-wingers....go right to the source and buy it.
Mittens Romney did it through his Baine Capital buying the ClearChannel behemoth....next thing you know all the Rush Limpjob types are excoriating McCain in an outlandish (even for them) and unified (robotic/stepford/bought-off/typical) fashion.
It illustrates how close to the brink we have become/been.

What a candidate that guy was huh? He was a liberal Mormon Republican in MA who's incredibly wealthy, and as soon as he realizes that Rudy and McCain had the moderate side covered, he's now Mr. Conservative :jj:! As soon as that fails miserably he tries to steal Obama's message, saying he's for change even ripping off Obama's change sign! At last he decides to be a "true conservative" now.
Good to know he has the lying and pandering parts down pat.
Some reich-wingers think he can win in 2012 against Obama  |

Then we have Ken Blackwell and Ohio in 2004.

Of course had Democrat voters not been so completely stupid, Gore would have won. No wonder the Dems are not having their votes count now. |

Because it was so close an automatic recount was ordered, Bush won that too.
Then Gore picked heavily Democratic counties and wanted hand recounts. |

It's funny how both Republicans & Democrats insist the other tries to "steal" elections.
Fact is, they're already "stolen" by virtue of the fact that congressional districts are heavily gerrymandered to ensure that incumbents rarely lose.
Florida in 2000 was a mess on BOTH sides. I wish Gore had won, but he played plenty dirty himself. |

How so?
The House of Representatives is structured to protect incumbents, regardless of party. Districts are set up in many cases to do this. Look at the incumbency rate.
And if you want to delve into the Florida mess in 2000, it was a statistical tie. If those stupid fucking geezers in South FL knew how to read a fucking ballot, Gore might have won. But both candidates dispatched people down there to try & turn the election. Gore isn't innocent. Believe me, I wish he'd won, but they engaged in some shitty behavior.
But that's ancient history now.
The corporate takeover of Washington isn't solely of one party. Republicans are worse in many areas, but they're not solely to blame. |

1. This stupid statement implies that there is no basis in reality for the concern of election fraud.
2. There is plenty of evidence of such, going back to Watergate.
3. There is plenty of evidence of such, just since 2000.
4. It has been the M.O. of the GOP.
You have to be an idiot to be ignorant/unconcerned about these things.

Yeah, I'm stupid. Thanks for the tip. I guess I just need to get pissed off like you and insist that all the fault lies at the feet of a single political party.
MY sleazebag is better than YOUR sleazebag, huh?
And what's even more funny is that you & I seem to agree on almost all of these issues -- corporatism, etc. But you can't pull your head out of your ass long enough to stop yourself from calling me stupid because I dare point out that Florida 2000 was sleazy on both sides.

Only a fool would look the other way as the possible groundwork for massive election fraud is laid, because it gets "sleazy on both sides". That is just irresponsible, illogical, and stupid.
So if you are not an idiot, how do you explain:
1. Not being able to grasp the difference between politics and Treason.
2. Being willing to dismiss a story that strikes to the heart/epicenter of the betrayal of this country and ascension of the military-industrial-corporate-complex.....for ANY reason.
3. Implying that there is no basis in reality for the concern of election fraud, despite all the evidence to the contrary.
Address those points or shut the fuck up.
I voted for Nader twice in a row. I think I understand how the two parties are "the same". I also know how they are not.
You seem to have a problem with balance/degree/proportionality. You seem to be comfortable equating Gore/Bush actions in Fla. That is stupid.
You still fail to understand or care about the difference between Treason and politics.
The degree to which the Democrats (take your friend Hillary for instance, or her husband) are "bad" is the degree to which they emulate the corporatist GOP. The GOP does not emulate the Dems policy/ideology. Invalidating GOP policy/ideology in this country is the best/fastest way to heal it.
Ignorantly or dishonestly blurring that truth is the work of a cockroach.
If the Democrats then rise up as the standard bearers for American Fascism, then we will turn our focus on them. But there would be no reason for them to cling to policies and interests that have finally been invalidated/exposed/despised, and are counter to their party's professed nature anyway.
Only a fool would pretend that the "fault" is shared equally between the two parties. |
