The problem is that it was BILL Clinton that gave out the pardons. It is HILLARY Clinton that is running for president. I don't give her credit for having any experience in the White House so I won't blame her for the underhanded things that happen either.
As far as presidential pardons go, not too many presidents give a rats ass about decisions of the courts or victim's feeling if their friends are convicted. The pardons will fly in January 2009. |

One group that will try and have it both ways will be the congressional Republicans; if Hillary somehow gets the nomination, and then manages to get the Presidency, I can see congress going right back to the R's and their first act will be to appoint a special prosecutor or whatever they call them these days to investigate everything she has ever done. She will accomplish nothing as she will be facing investigation for her whole term. The only thing that will save her is that President W. has set the precedent that she will be able to claim Executive privilege for anything and everything. |

Putting pardons into perspective why don't you read up on who else has been pardoned by other presidents. Ford, Carter, Bush and Clinton (Bill) have all stirred up controversy. |

The Marc Rich pardon was, I think, more vile than that. At least, Iran-Contra was a misguided attempt toward a good end result. I'm not making excuses for it. You might want to check out the Rose Law Firm, too. They shit in their mess kit more than just a few times.
She put up with a lot of embarrassment because of Bill's peccadillos but stuck with him for political gain.
Check Obama's accomplishments in and out of law school. He's certainly done as much as Hillary. Hell, even his wife has similar accomplishments to Hillary.
No, nothing there impresses me greatly about Hillary. I assume you're suddenly in her corner for the same reason most Republitards are: to help McCain get to the White House.
And, you have to consider the controversies of her husband's presidency since she is using that presidency as an example of her qualifications.

I'd tend to agree with you if it weren't CLEAR that multiple pardons were given for money & votes for her 2000 senate campaign. There clearly was a "plan" in place by the Clintons to re-take the White House.
There were several pardons that were connected to Hillary's senate run, but here are a couple I remember best:
1) In Rockland County, NY, she scored a 1400-12 victory in one Hasidic community immediately before several incarcerated felons from the community received pardons. Note that Hasidic Jews don't tend to vote so overwhelmingly Democrat.
2) Clinton pardoned 16 members of FALN, a Puerto Rican terrorist group that was resonsible for a string of armed robberies as well as 146 bombings that killed 9 people and injured hundreds in its quixotic fight for independence from the United States. Some 25 years before another, far more devastating terrorist attack on Lower Manhattan, FALN planted a bomb in the Fraunces Tavern restaurant which detonated during lunch-hour, killing 4 and injuring 60, it's most infamous and deadly attack.
How does Hillary fit into all of this? Well, she is the reason -- the only reason -- that the pardon was ever granted. She had a senate race to win, after all, in a state with over 1 million Spanish-speaking voters. Characteristic of White House thinking at the time was an email sent by an adviser concluding that the pardons would be "fairly easy to accomplish and will have a positive impact among strategic communities in the U.S. (read, voters)." |
