4 things could happen this year:
1) Hillary wins nomination, and wins general election
2) Hillary wins nomination, and loses general election
3) Obama wins nomination, and wins general election
4) Obama wins nomination, and loses general election
It's quite clear at this point that if #1 isn't possible (and odds aren't good), her next choice is #4, which would set her up for 2012. This won't offend the Bushbots here, obviously, but it's clear what she's up to.
Remember, she has been planning this for 20 years. If she can't win the whole thing in '08, she'll just try to run in '12 instead. |

That's why she is tearing Obama to shreds now. If she can't win the party nomination, she will make damn sure that he is damaged goods going into the general.
Think that Hillary will campaign for Obama if he is given the nomination? Hell no - she'll all of a sudden be too "busy" as she has been in not yet releasing her tax returns. |

Stepping back for a minute, shouldn't this unbridled, ruthless ambition be an issue? If she TRULY stands for the things she says (and those things are almost the same as Obama's platform), wouldn't she want those things to be implemented?
Clearly not. She just wants to see her plan to fruition. |

| she will have to campaign for Obama...theres no other way around it. If she wants to keep a good standing in the party she has to at least pretend to back the nominee. |

| The only way she gets the 2012 Dem nomination is if she is up for re-election. She follows through with her scorched earth strategy and helps McCain into the White House, she will be done in her party, Joe Lieberman will no longer be the most unpopular "Democrat" in the Senate. |

People seem to have short memories when it comes to the Clintons.
I don't think enough rank-and-file Democrats really see the damage she's doing. |

I don't mind the ambition, but wow, it's getting harder and harder to like the woman, and support her down the road.
At this point I would be content to see her be a great Senator. But if she keeps this up she's going to see her current post in jeopardy as well. |

| Clinton lost. Media loves ratings and it's still a good story to talk about the primaries, but let's face it: she LOST. |

| This is great, but it will be 4 years later for Obama as well. If he loses a close election, he'll almost certainly have some pressure to run again. Also, in 4 years some of the 2006 Dems (i.e, Jim Webb) may pass both of them in front runner status. This may be her intent at this point, but it's a horrible plan. She's polarizing her own party and many will blame her for a 2008 loss. If it's 2012 and we're still in Iraq (as well as other McCain conquests) and spending billions on unpopular wars while the middle class disappears, her own party may point the finger squarely on her and that may be hard to overcome. |

A win isnt a win if she doesnt get over 65% of the rest of the vote. The rest is just the media trying to create a story for ratings.
bottomline she cant win. |

Absolutely correct. The question is, will she ensure that the Democratic party loses also because she lost. She is selfish and doesn't give a shit about anything or anyone except getting elected. It is pure greed. |

Clinton loses.
Obama loses.
They can both keep Howard Dean and John Kerry company at the Democratic Losers Convention in 2012. |
