Comoros Captures Rebel Capital
ANJOUAN, Comoros
The Comoros government regained control of the capital of a rebel-held island off the southeast coast of Africa on Tuesday, but sporadic fighting persisted as troops flushed out pockets of resistance and searched for a renegade colonel.
Explosions and gunfire started before dawn as hundreds of troops backed by the African Union moved into Anjouan, one of three main islands making up the Comoros archipelago.
The Comoros has been caught up in a series of coups and political upheavals since gaining independence from France in 1975. The late Bob Denard, a notorious French mercenary, controlled the Comoros behind a figurehead leader for most of the 1980s following a coup he led.
Saudi King Calls for Interfaith Dialogue
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia
The Saudi king has made an impassioned plea for dialogue among Muslims, Christians and Jews — the first such proposal from a nation with no diplomatic ties to Israel and a ban on non-Muslim religious services and symbols.
The message from King Abdullah comes at a time of stalled peace initiatives and escalating tensions in the region.
"The idea is to ask representatives of all monotheistic religions to sit together with their brothers in faith and sincerity to all religions as we all believe in the same God," the king told delegates Monday night at a seminar.
Australian Building His Own Stonehenge

Pagans and druids, mark your calendars and book your airplane tickets. An Australian entrepreneur hopes to open a Stonehenge replica by the Dec. 21 solstice, just in time for New Age revelers.
The $1.26 million project, to be called The Henge, will include 101 granite stones arranged in an inner and outer circle, a central altar, and will span 110 feet.
Unlike the original Stonehenge, guests will be encouraged to touch and play around the new monument, which will also have an interpretive center and a children's playground.
England's Stonehenge was created between 3,000 B.C. and 1,600 B.C. Today it is a major tourist attraction and has spiritual significance for neo-druids and New Age followers, thousands of whom gather there on June 21 each year to celebrate the northern hemisphere's summer solstice.= |

The House of Blues rules are shitty - no cameras allowed. I've been to several HOB venues and they all search out cameras. I brought one this time in case it was different but no such luck. I had to take it all the way down to coat check. |

You couldn't take cameras in to the show. I had to check mine at the coat check room at the Showboat. I did get a picture with Beet after the show, and Riley before the show.
Riley was fine when I saw him at about 7:30pm. :) |
