The AP announced the MLB salaries for each team. I was surprised at Boston being #4 and Detroit ranking as high as #2 (even with the new contract of Miggy Cab). The White Sox come in at #5 even though most people predict them to come in 3rd in their division. Of course NY embarrasses themselves once again by having a payroll that dwarfs everyones else. I'd love to see Tampa play .500 ball with that near bottom payroll.

Figures were obtained by The Associated Press from management and player sources and include salaries and pro-rated shares of signing bonuses. In some cases, parts of salaries deferred without interest are discounted to reflect present-day values.

N.Y. Yankees -- $209,081,579
Detroit -- 138,685,197
New York Mets -- 138,293,378
Boston -- 133,440,037

Yankees are almost 50% higher then the club with the #2 payroll.

Its WS or bust for them.

The Mets are about a Hundred Million Dollars over what they play like!

I think AZ has a serious chance of winning the NL. It would be good to see a team w/ a 66M payroll get there. Of course I hope they then get crushed by the Red Sox in the W.S. (please let Boston win the A.L. again  )

Cool information. The Yankees are no surprise when they pay douchebags like Giambi and Kyle Farnsworth mega-millions when they basically suck shit. Or how about Carl Pavano? Jaret Wright from a couple of years ago? The examples are endless.

Don't get me wrong....I'm not a Yankees Basher....it's just amazing how many shitty players they've signed to huge contracts. I like the fact that smaller market teams with limited payrolls like Colorado or Arizona have had some success recently. Go little guys.....
