If they can continue to wear Kansas down they may have a chance. So far this is, by far, the most embarrassing game they have played that I can remember. There better be a come to Jesus meeting of epic proportions during this halftime. They better start hitting some perimeter shots and getting it to Hansbrough inside if they intend to keep it close. |

| The game was pretty much over in the first 10 minutes something I would have never predicted and Kansas had a great game plan coming into the game. Hansbrough is a great offensive player, but he can't play defense and they went inside to their big players early and built a big lead. Great season by UNC, but their defense was going to cost them eventually and tonight was that night. I feel bad for Hansbrough because the way he plays he deserves a national title and we will see if he gets it next year as most of the players on UNC are returning barring anybody jumps to the NBA. |

Hard To Say, I Wouldn't Be Suprised If They All Decided To Stay. As A Heels Fan, I Would Love It. But In This Day & Age, Jumping To The NBA Is The Norm And I Can Live With That. UNC Will Just Reload & Try Again.

When exactly were the Heels handed top 4 talents? Dean to Roy didn't work to bring in that talent?
In your 35 years no program has won more than Carolina's 3 Championships and no program has been hit harder by early defections than UNC. Do you think the '83 Heels that made the elite 8 could have used James Worthy for his Sr year? Do you think the Sweet 16 Heels of '90 could have used JR Reid for his Sr year? Do you think the '96 & '97 Heels('97 was a FF year) could have used Jerry Stackhouse and Rasheed Wallace? Do you think the '99 Heels could have used Antawn Jamison and Vince Carter? Do you think the '06 heels could have used Felton, McCants and May? Do you think the '06, '07 and '08 Heels could have used Marvin Williams? Do you think the '08 Heels could have used Brandan Wright? |

Kentucky is probably #1 but the Heels are right there. UK has played basketball longer so they have piled up a few more wins but the heels are closing the gap. If I was ranking today I'd go UK at 1 and UNC at 2. Had the Heels not been upset by Utah in '98 and then beat UK in the title game I might have reversed the order.
What did you think of Gillespie's first year? what do you expect next year? our series continues at least through next year so the Heels and Cats will meet again. |

I LOVE *LOVE* **LOVE** Gillispie.
He is the perfect man to coach at Kentucky.
He is just as obsessive about basketball as UK fans.
The player development under Billy G's first year was nothing short of amazing. At the beginning of the year, I couldn't wait until Ramel Bradley and Joe Crawford graduated. At the end of the season, they had become two of my favorite Wildcats of all-time. They progressed more in one season under Billy G than they did in 3 seasons under Flubby.
UK is definitely headed in the right direction. Getting rid of Flubby was the move that we needed so badly. The program was on a consistent downward slide the past 4 seasons or so under Tubby's watch.
The team had a tough rough start b/c Coach Gillispie was basically trying to change the entire system as well as the overall culture of the team that he inherited.
He is an amazing recruiter. That has me as excited as anything else.
Next year I don't think a Top-20 ranking is out of the question. The players will have had a full year in his system. 2009-2010 is the year when I'm really expecting big things. That will be the year when he'll have had a full amount of time to get in early with the recruits that he wants to bring to Kentucky.
Patrick Patterson will win SEC POY next season. He is just incredible. That's what makes this past season so amazing. The way Coach Gillispie and his team were able to persevere through such debilitating injures was nothing short of amazing. Losing Patrick Patterson, Jodie Meeks, as well as Derrick Jasper for a large part of the season made things tough!
I'm glad our series with you guys is continuing. You guys are among the absolute elite of college basketball right now and that's where we want to get back to. You only get to that level by playing the best. I hope our series continues for the foreseeable future and I have great confidence that we will have a legitimate shot to beat you guys as Billy G continues to but his stamp on this team. Next season you guys should win, but I look forward to it being a really, really great exhibition of college basketball very soon. |

Obviously Gillespie has proven he can build a program and I think he'll do well there but I think their development from the non-conf into SEC play had more to do w/ the poor state of the SEC. The SEC was as bad as I have ever seen it this year and they won the majority of their games in SEC play.
Patterson is going to be a big time college player he's a nice player to rebuild your program around except that he probably will be gone by this time next year.
I love playing UK and other big time programs, it's good for college basketball. I hate when teams like Syracuse and others play these weak non-conf scheds. It makes Nov and Dec fun when big time programs meet up. |
