i would like to start all by saying, i am a Toronto Raptors fan

I had a thought today..

I think Pistons or Celtics are going to win the championship...

First, the east is weak as hell and just plain embarrassing when comparing it to the west.. no team in the east is beating celtics/pistons in a 7 game series..

Second their defense is the best in the league and thats what wins championships..

and third... the western teams are going to be battling to win games.. theres going to be very tough competition .. whereas pistons/celtics have a much easier road...

so the western team that makes it to the finals will be completely worn out by the time they make it to the finals...

what are you thoughts ? discuss

west > east

I'm pulling for the Lakers but I'd be surprised if Boston didn't win it all.

yeah it looks like 1 team out of the East will definitely win and it looks like its gonna be The Celtics..
As for the West .. its too tough to tell there are 5 Teams that could definitely win " Lakers, Suns, Spurs, Jazz or Hornets.. However I don't think the Hornets or Jazz can play a successful 7 game series against either : the Suns, Spurs and Lakers....

The only indicator would be how has Boston played against the West this year.

Saw it was something like 16-0 at one point. I guess they lost a few, but they swept the so-called Texas Triangle recently on the road.

No harm in thinking the Eastern Champ will easily take the Finals this year, esp. with home-court advantage.

The Celts are a beatable team my friend.. I saw the Suns beat them first hand.. There inst one team in the NBA whos unbeatable right now.. Spurs, Suns, and Lakers match up well against the Celts ...

Can't try to reason with a Suns fan. But your team had a shot in 1976.

Kobe's playoff work has been indescribable since he was removed off Shaq's jockstrap.

A Celtics 3rd road game in 4 nights would make it a fair fight for the Suns.

Should be an interesting Final this year.

You sir are dreaming ...Any West team could post that same record in a very and I mean VERY weak Eastern Conference...

SO AGAIN...

how did Boston do against Western teams this year?

something around 25-5?

I think that's pretty good.

Not nearly the standard that the mighty Suns have given the universe, mind you...
Stuie Ramone
good too see another Raptors fan on here, how far you thinking they can go glass sandwich?

I think the Celtics are going to have a harder time than people think. The "Big 3" have extremely limited playoff experience. The only 2 players on the team with alot of experience would be Cassell and Allen (both of who went to the finals) but besides them theres not much else.

I still think the West is going to do it....

Just hope everyone is healthy and at full strength for one of the best sets of playoffs in sports history.

And hopefully my candyass Raptors grow a pair and try to win a few games before getting knocked out early.

they both are boring but still both the best in the playoffs

Boston/Phoenix 76 was one of the best Finals ever, giving us that triple OT game in the Gahhhhhden.

Whatever happens will be great to watch this year.

Right , but is that on Kobe or is that on the Lakers upper management?

You do realize that Kwame Brown and Smush Parker were the starting point guard and starting center (the 2 most important positions in basketball) for the Lakers the past 2 playoff years for the Lakers correct?

Those 2 players are 100% healthy right now (for the Clippers and the Memphis Grizzlies) and get DNP's every single game night because they are perhaps the 2 worst players in basketball at their respective positions!!!

PLEASE READ ON!!!

60% of the starting lineup for the Lakers the past 2 seasons was made up of CBA caliber talent , yes that's correct , Smush Parker - Luke Walton - and Kwame Brown were all Laker starters along with Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom!!!

Do you realize what a miracle it was to even get to the playoffs in the Western conference the past 2 seasons?

Are we talking about the upcoming playoffs where current player personnel has dramatically changed since as recent as last year? Or should we also dig up the playoff track records of Ray Allen , Paul Pierce , and Kevin Garnett to skew opinions on the upcoming playoffs?

Last time I checked the long time best player in the NBA has 3 rings , and whether or not you think Kobe Bryant was instrumental in winning 3 championships for the Lakers or not really means nothing in the grand scheme of things....

The fact of the matter is he was 50% of what perhaps might of been the most lethal 1-2 punch in league history!

Had the Diesel stayed hungry and committed to his craft rather than been lazy and satisfied , the Lakers would have won more rings with him and there wouldn't be any debate as to who the greatest big man of the modern era was.....(Shaq or Tim Duncan?)

There's zero honour in not winning a title.

Not understanding why you want to put up excuses. If he's that great, he should do SOMETHING in the playoffs.

and it won't be this year for Kobe's Lakers. No team around him.

Oh wait, Bynum (who?) is coming back and will be more valuable than Wilt, Shaq and Kareem combined.

Bryant's playoff stats

00-01) 30 points per game 7 RPG 6 APG world champs

01-02) 27 points per game 6 RPG 5 APG world champs

02-03) 32 points per game 5 RPG 5 APG lost in WCF to Spurs

03-04) 25 points per game 5 RPG 5 APG lost to Pistons in NBA finals

05-06) 28 points per game 6 RPG 5 APG lost in 7 games to Suns in 1st round

06-07) 33 points per game 5 RPG 5 APG lost to Suns in 1st round

Actually he's got some semblence of a team finally this year , you need to watch more Sportscenter or something man , do you get ESPN in Canada?

I gotta be honest , I sense a trace of fear hidden in your sarcasm dude , are you a Celtic fan?

Whoever wins the Pistons/Celtics ECF finals will win the title. They play the best defense, and whoever comes out of the west will be beat up from all 3 rounds.

Maybe , but the Spurs dont play shabby defense either

The Celtics and Pistons will get tested in the East. It just wont be in the First round. If the Celtics win it will be because they were the better team not because the West was just tired.

When did Ray Allen go to the Finals?

I'm not completely sold on the Celtics. I think their lack of playoff experience is going to hurt. No one likes to ever admit it, but KG is incredibly un-clutch. They better keep the ball out of his hands in the 4th quarter.
goulash5244
This is not the spurs' year. They still haven't won back to back titles yet and it always seems like thats what motivates them to come back and win it every two years. The West is solid 1-5, and whoever gets out of the east will definitely have an advantage as Boston is looking to play the Hawks in round one. Don't forget about LeBron. He tore through that pistons' D last year, and it shouldn't be surprising if he carries that "team" again.

Hell yeah .. The Western Conf is gonna be crazy in the playoffs.. Im saying Its either gonna be Suns, Spurs, or Lakers winning the West Conf Finals but then again the Hornets are on fire but I dont think they have enough experience to go 7 games with bad ass teams like Suns, Spurs, & Lakers
