I am livid right now at Howard and Doug for not releasing this episode to HTV.
First, I missed the beginning of the show (taking my Mom to dialysis) so when I heard the first reference that something bad had happened with Artie, I immediately switched over to the Replay but it was from Monday. I had no way to hear the show. I had to download the god damn thing. Six hours later and completely emotionally drained all I could think about was the safety of Artie and whether or not he would survive this trip (if he still took it).
Back to the incident within the show. Howard was so distraught (as we all were) that even he didn't describe what was happening to his audience. That was the last thing on his mind. That showed how much he cares about Artie. He wasn't thinking of the show at that moment, only Artie.
We, the audience, never really knew what happened during that 'attack' until the Wrap Up show when a few questions were answered.
Part of me thought this might not air on HTV but then the Sal/Artie fight did...lots of fights have aired on HTV. People walking off. Storming out. Quitting. How is this different? Even Artie admitting his heroin use which Artie never had a problem with it airing but Doug didn't bother to ask him he just didn't initially air it out of respect to him and disrespect to us.
There is no legal reason not to air this episode. Artie didn't say anything libelous and anything he does in the studio is good for air since they all sign a release. I could understand not airing it if Artie died or had an attack but even then he's said numerous times that would be great television. He's not kiddding. I'm sure he would love to go out that way. He's very destructive.
This absolutely should have been a part of one of the 4/10 Daily shows (a representation of what happened on the show that day). If you air this at a later date, say perhaps when this conflict has been resolved either with Artie permanently leaving the show or coming back in some capacity then the episode with have a lot less meaning to it than if it were to air now when all our emotions are still raw.
My solution to the Artie situation: Artie has so many people in the building that he is in conflict with and he is such a hothead that he has no way of controlling his anger at work. He needs to stay home and do the show from his ISDN line where he cannot harm anyone (physically anyway). They can set up an HD camera there so that everyone can see him in the studio on a big screen monitor. He would an assistant (probably not Teddy) to help him stay awake or maybe the airhorn would work across the ISDN line!
Howard keeps saying that Artie is a grown person and that he can do whatever he wants to do but at some point there needs to be an intervention or he will die. My Mom was lying in her bed and sleeping 23 hours a day in Renal failure. I had to wake her to eat, take medicine and go to doctor's appointments. She kept asking me to leave her alone and let her die. Finally, I got some help and took her to a hospital and now she's on dialysis, eats everything I give her and has a great outlook on life. She's always thanking me for for helping her. |

| It should be interesting to see what they do have for tonight's daily shows. JD dancing? Jason Reitman interview? THIS IS TOTAL CRAP! This is why I have a lifetime subscription to Sirius and subscribe to Howard TV. Can't wait to hear the show after they come back from vacation. |

BTW, they've already stated they won't air it tonight.

It is our regret we will not be showing the "infamous" April 10th program featuring Artie Lange at this time. It is our hope to be able to bring you that program in its entirety in the very near future. |

What a shock. Howard is pretending it never happened. No replays, no Thursday update on HowardStern.com, and no HTV show. Howard you can't erase history so stop trying. I do not pay tons of money every year to hear censorship on Sirius and HTV.
Let Howard know how you feel. All those emails Fred reads? He gets them at sternshow@howardstern.com Write an email and tell them off. Make their email inbox be overflowing when they get back from vacation. This is bullshit plain and simple and I am outraged by it. |

| It should be interesting to hear what they have to say about it the day after vacation. I know I'll be up early listening to the show live. It does suck what they did by not replaying it and not putting it on Howard TV, but they could've easily gone to commercial when things started heating up. While I will not cancel my Howard TV, I am pissed off that they will not show this. I guess they're going to put up the dance competition and something else for the daily shows. |

totally and completely utter bullshit.
HOWARD has become an asshole, i hate to stoop to this level.
but for a man who prides himself on honesty, it sure seems like he's completely full of crap recently. |

| Okay, I'm going to give HTV the benefit of the doubt and give them a chance to air it during the daily shows during vacation, like they do all the other recent shows they don't air. |

I think they will eventually show an edited version of the episode. This is nothing new as they have edited other episodes before airing them.
The marquee scroll at the top of the howard.tv home page says:
“We hope to be able to bring you the April 10th show soon. Stay tuned for updates.” |

| Artie gave the okay to air the fight and it should be on 4/22/08. |

Howard could've easily removed all the angst and doubt from the past week by simply recording a 30 second message that explained why the replays and HTV show didn't air. They could've had the message up on his site, HTV, Sirius as well as running it on their two channels regularly. A part (or most) of him had to want as many listeners as possible to tune in this morning for the whole story.
They originally stated on HTV's site that the episode would be in its entirety now it just says the April 10th show featuring Artie. We'll see how much makes it to air. We've already had some more censorship today with 'someone' telling Howard (through Tim) they can't discuss taking drugs in Amsterdam...where it's legal btw! |
