Serra was owned in every single way and hopefully that knocks him back down into reality...Arrogant, loud, cocky, annoying
By the way Starnes should never be allowed bac into the UFC. |

I wouldn't call it a curse...after all, Rich Franklin won last night, so it wasn't a total loss.
But yeah, Serra looked totally outclassed last night. I was amazed how GSP took it to him. |

the deck was stacked against him.
but you'd think he'd mount SOME kind of offence.
anyone else have a problem with his sponsorship? my gf was on the chip with it. lol. |

| who are his sponsors? and whats the problem? Sorry I didnt get to see the fights last night |

i read the blog from that Cigarette John dude where he bitched that it was an early stoppage
wtf Serra was probably like thank god its over
GSP is young, bigger, faster, stronger, and more skilled than Serra
I was in awe of how FAST he was last night... some of those takedowns were lightning quick
watch this gif and pay attention to the clock in the corner

GSP punches Serra and takes him down before Serra even gets his own punch off
the takedown takes less than 1 second
heres the truth right here, Serra is a great personality, but the guy has no shot to beat any of the top 170 guys. hes gonna get a big fight with Hughes based off the TUF rivalry, but he will most likely be dominated in that one as well.
hes too small for 170, and hes not even good enough to be a top guy at 155 |

So whats your rank in BJJ? Oh... thats right. You're just a mark.
Serra got his ass kicked, however I seem to remember GSP getting the same thing in their first fight.
Wonder how hesitant GSP is going to be for a third fight. |

I take it that you're a Serra mark? GSP got beat in the last fight and there was no excuse for it but I don't think he has anything to worry about it they end up going at it a third time. He dominated Serra on the ground where Serra should of had the advantage. He outwrestled both Hughes and Koscheck who are both world-class wrestlers. Since losing to Serra it is obvious that GSP has stepped up his training 10 fold and should dominate the welterweight division for some time. At this point, he is to the welterweight division what Anderson Silva is to the middleweight division. |

| serra really needed to mix in some knees to defend the single and double leg takedowns. GSP won because he had a good strategy |

There is a difference between getting beat and getting your ass handed to you. GSP got beat in the first fight. He got hit with a good shot and Serra finished him. In the last fight GSP completely dominated Serra in every aspect and beat his ass. When was the last time you saw a fight stopped for knees to the body? Serra wanted no more of that and rightfully so. GSP is a monster and I don't see anyone at 170 that can hang with him at this time.
Looking forward, hopefully Hughes and Serra will get to settle their bad blood I predict that Hughes will completely dominate Serra. If and when that happens Serra will be out of the picture that he should have never been in in the first place. |

Yah honestly, everyone who's saying Serra got "robbed" (ie. Cigarette John) or that Serra could have gone another round is retarded. Firstly, Serra was manhandled in this fight. GSP had the upperhand on the strikes and took him down at will.
And the job of a referee is to stop a fight if a fighter is taking too much damage and not defending themselves properly. You don't have to be knocked out cold for a fight to be stopped. You see plenty of fights stopped when the guys on top raining down strikes... the ref stops the fight, and the guy who lost immediately sits up or gets on his feet and starts bitching about the stoppage.
And I would say curling up on your knees into the fetal position and taking a flurry of punches and vicious knees to the body without even attempting to roll out or stand up a pretty good stoppage. Those knees looked like they were gonna rip a hole in Serra's ribcage. And if you notice when the fight was stopped, Serra didn't stand up immediately and contest the stoppage. He layed there, he was hurt, he had given up in the fight in those final moments.
Of course the ref COULD have let Serra take the punishment longer and then had a 3rd round. But you're fooling yourself if you think round 3 would have been any different or lasted much longer. And the ref wouldn't be doing his job if he had let him take any more damage. His job is protect the fighters. So stop nut-hugging Serra, he lost. He's not gonna get a rematch anytime soon either, he'll probably have to fight Matt Hughes next. And GSP is more than likely going to fight Jon Fitch. |

yeah its real arrogant and cocky to lift the guy that just beat the shit out of you and carry him around the ring and tell florian that he is the best in the world
serra is a class act. god forbid someone has a little personality and a new york accent, oh jeez what do you want him to sound like a fuckin paradiddle?
gsp is the best in the world and he showed it. serra did get handled, but he survived a round which is a lot better than most fighters would have done facing gsp in the zone he was in saturday night
you guys are right marking out to gsp, but serra is no slouch, i guess there are a lot of fighters with gracie black belts that have beaten gsp that suck right? |

Serra is definately no slouch. He's a skilled fighter, and obviously alot of his comments that people see as "cocky" or "arrogant" is simply him trying to hype up and sell the fight. You'll find most fighters taking on GSP take on this role, simply because GSP doesn't care for trash talk. He's not a bad guy by any means. Cockiness and trash talk sells fights, more so than skill, so it definately helps. It's aimed more at people who don't understand the technical aspects of MMA.
Honestly, I think Serra's upset win was just a combo of a flash knockout, and an ill-prepared GSP. Serra's a good guy and a great fighter... but I honestly don't even think he's top 10 in his weight class. He definately wasn't before ranked top 10 before he won TUF and got the title shot. I'd love for him to prove me wrong, however i think his next 2-3 fights will prove me right. |

| Call it a silly theory...but I think Serra came out flat...and got his ass kicked...in part.....because he actually WINS if he loses....and knowing that...makes it hard to put forth an honest "back-up against the wall" effort. He knew going into the fight that if he Loses...he would guarantee himself a huge 3rd and final match...on his home turf...in MSG...and a really nice fat payday...good for him, good for UFC to make a splash in Montreal, and line up NYC...good for GsP too. Just a wacky thought...but I watched that fight and couldnt help but think it almost looked like a laydown. |
