All you war supporters can regurgitate"defending our country", "we're fighting them there so we don't have to fight them over here", "if we leave it will only embolden the enemy" etc etc all you want. The simple fact of the matter is that our troops are dying for NOTHING for a bunch of prehistoric sand dwellers who hate Americans and democracy, all for the glorifacation of US government ego and special interests.
Look at just ONE of the soldiers that Bush is resposible for.

And these articles/stories just perpetuate the "positive" outlook on a situation like this by calling him a hero and all that bullshit. He, like all the US troops fighting over there, is the bravest human being on this planet but there is NOTHING positive about what happened to him.
Bush goes and visists the Marine and gives him a medal like THAT IS SUPPOSED TO MEAN A GODDAMN FUCKIN THING. A fucking peice of metal in exchange for your life. FUCK BUSH AND FUCK ANY WAR SUPPORTER. |

While I respect your feelings about the war. Please do degrade that Marine's or the thousands of other military men and women's sacrifice. It may well mean NOTHING to you but we all have or reasons and meanings for what we do, be it protecting our brothers and sister or for the few good things we have done or seen.
The official reason why we are here may very well be bullshit and/or a NOTHING cause but I would hardly agree that it has all been for nothing. |

I respect your service & thank you for having the sense of duty to enlist in the armed forces. Our soliders have never picked their battles but instead served when called, so when statements are made like the one above that the war was for nothing, it in no way degrades the service of the men & women who fight it.
This attitude needs to be erased for it is a big reason that we find ourselves wrapped in a controversey. The hunger & need of our soldiers to believe that they are fighting a noble cause & one that will be remembered heroically is very strong, & normal. Most of our young soldiers enlisted with a strong sense of patriotism & a real belief in the rightousness of the our Country. For these people the idea that they could be on the wrong side, or at least the waisted side, of battle is beyond difficult to comprehend. The problem is that the need to feel heroic does not change the reality.
Our leaders place our forces in an impossible & unneccesary war, & that is no reflection on the bravery & sacrifice of the people who fight it. It doesn't make the committment an less heroic as they are charged with answering the call, nothing more, nothing less. The reason that so many of the high ranking military leaders who have since retired oppose this war is because they realize this more than anyone.
I am sorry, this war has not been for nothing, it worse than that. It has instead been a negative that in the end has only weakened our Country. None of this is in any way a reflection on those who fight it or have lost their lives for it. You can question the war withouth questioning the warrior. |

i agree with every single word u typed, and i only wish i was half that bright and articulate.
BUT i disagree with telling the soldier this. just because its true, doesnt mean its the right thing to do.
for example, if your friends mother was a whore. would u tell him that and argue why its true?
u would not u would show respect to your friend. its not this guys fault, and we need brave soldiers to carry out missions with pride, regardless if u think the mission sucks. |
