I have changed my mind about the whole Satellite deal.People have not embraced it as I thought they would. The government has stepped in and is trying to kill the whole concept. Howard is not really into the show anymore. I will keep my monthly subscription but I have sold all my Sirius and XM stock, and my brother has done the same. It's going to be interesting to see how all this plays out in a few years.

Hate to say it, but I’m trading Howard in for three packs of Newport 100s a month. I really never thought I would cancel. Oh well.

What the fuck will you listen to on regular radio?

I am a huge Howard fan, but there is much more to Sirius than just Howard.

I rarely listen to regular radio and would not if I had a way around it.
Grefal
I travel to PR alot and when he was on regular radio I couldn't pick him up I had to listen to Spanish radio(which really sucks), but now I can listen to him all day and when I get bored I can listen to Bubba or Laugh Break or in a pinch music. I do agree with Hairy Balls through his shows are beginning to suck, there better than anything on regular radio but they leave me wanting.
Casual
13 bucks a month isn't really a big deal to me. If I at least get a few hours of entertainment a month then it is worth the money. I go month to month. I can spend 13 bucks getting food at a restaurant one time. I'd rather be able to hear Howard and the music for a month at any hour of the day.

NOPE. My S50 died last week after I did the update that they reminded me to do in 43 different ways and they basically said,"tough shit".

For the thirteen or so bucks a month it's still worth it. My reception is fine - so I don't know what you guys are talking about.

i guess if all you have to compare it to is terrestrial radio than you have a point, but there are other options ivan. I never listen to the radio. Ever. Just like I never listen to anything on sirius anymore, except Howard. My car has an alpine cda-x001. It has fm, sirius, ipod, iphone, cd changer, and can have hd radio and if I wanted any type of mp3 type of hardrive player hooked up at the same time. Why is it that some of you act like if there is no sirius you are completely fucked? Sirius music has some of the most repetitive music playlists EVER. Try listening to once channel on a long road trip, say like 5 hours or more and try not to want to throw the sirius out of the car.

Even if you don't listen to Howard anymore there's still a ton of stuff to listen to on Sirius.
Wingnut19
To those making the arguement that there is programming OTHER than Howard as a reason to keep your sub obviously haven't heard XM's music programming.
They have much better music and NHL.
Hair Nation plays Bon jovi every 5th song and I'm NOT lying. It makes me want to go on a massacre every time I hear that pussy.
hhkr
Sirius is the best thing that ever happened here. I tried to get radio stations for many years and there wasn't shit on the dial, am or fm until I got Sirius.
SGT. HOOKER
I'm not worried, bought the lifetime subscription for $500 back when Howard first switched from testicular radio. Even if my radio craps out on me, I'll just listen online..

I’m not threatening to cancel. I already canceled. I’m glad that you love everything else on Sirius, but we’re not the same people. I don’t enjoy the same things you do. I would rather use my ipod in my car then listen to any music channel on Sirius. The Stones and Sinatra isn’t my thing either. I don’t need Sirius for Sports and I can live without Bubba and Ferrell.

I am sure there are bunches of people who are going to subscribe, but you are missing something. I don’t have this fantasy about canceling and everyone at Sirius rushes to see how they can get me back. It’s about me saving money. That’s all. I don’t see a use for Sirius anymore. I don’t find paying for Howard worth it anymore. If you do, good for you. Hope you enjoy it. I don’t.

I have all of those options my friend... I also have a kid and a wife who love to hit the buttons on the radio and get that immediate satisfaction from it. I also would like to hear an artist or two that I'm not familiar with. My fave music station on Sirius "The Underground Garage" plays all sorts of acts that I've never heard and eventually come to love and respect.

I'm not "completely fucked" without Sirius... but for as little as it costs I love having it in the car. I'm no slave to it Bro, I just like it. Oh, and I've done the five hour thing... can't say it bothered me like it does you. We're different in our listening needs I guess.

But that was a full year before his debut. I grew to love the sports channels and I enjoy many of the music channels (withou comercials).

But the Howard fan that joined for the promise of great Howard radio are now seeing it's all bullshit. 4 day weeks, begging to leave before 10am.

Then add the fact that some Howard fans can't stand Bubba (which is sad, the guy is great) and you can see the cancelelation growing.

Howard has let down many who joined for him alone. While other see the total value in Sirius.

I get all kinds of music that I am not familiar with because I am a musician and keep up on that through magazines and the web and then buy it. Plain and simple. I go to shows, I download shit from Amazon mp3, I buy cds. I always keep up with new music. That is why I hate sirius music. I seriously blows if you really want to have any kind of range of music to listen to. I thought it was great too until one of my first real work seasons when I had it and had to work long hours per day. I was psyched to have commercial free music with me. I set my favorite channels and was ready to go. One day I had to work 15 hrs. I listened to hair nation that day. I kid you not, if they played more than 20 songs ALL day it was a lot. Same songs repeated all day. Next day was like 12 hrs, I switched channels...same thing. I did this for 2 weeks. Same thing. Never again. If that is your idea of great....well, good for you. I think it is sad.

I have to agree with the point of Sirius playing the same songs over and over. I listen to just about all of the music channels, with my favorites being 23 Hair nation, 14/15 classic rock, and the 70's and 80's channels. They do play the same songs over and over and over again. It's no different that regular radio in that aspect. I have my "alerts" all filled (30 of them) and when I see what songs are being alerted for me, it's the same ones all day. I'm also sick of having programmers, whether at Sirius or a local FM station, decide what songs are going to be played for me. I like to choose my own music, and the only way you can do that is by putting your favorite tunes into your mp3 player.

I'm going to cancel probably by the end of the year if:

The reception doesn't improve dramatically (I should never get "acquiring signal", no excuse for that)

The Stern show doesn't show an improvement (I'm not holding out any hope on that one)

The repetitive nature of the music channels doesn't improve

truth be told, i was expecting to hear a whole lot of different songs from an immense library...also I am not always sitting at my desk, which makes hearing the same song over again even worse.

for instance, if I want to hear Poison...I don't want to hear Unskinny Bop 12 times. How about some songs that were not played in heavy rotation from other albums, such as from the Richie Kotzen or Blues Saraceno line ups? I mean, they should have everything. Sirius' library seems to be made up of the Greatest Hits cd of each band if that and you hear 4 or 5 of the bands top songs over and over again. Not for me.

The service is probably most geared towards commuters. The amount of music of one genre you are listening to, would drive you crazy. Anybody listening to that many hours on one station isn't going to be happy. XM from what I've heard from people has the deeper playlists. It might be better for your situation. But the people who listen to XM music for short periods often have the "what the hell is this song?" complaint. They probably play the B sides of albums more than Sirius. There is a reason why those songs never made it to mainstream FM.

Have you tried Slacker? That sounds more up your alley. www.slacker.com

commuters? so you are saying their awesome music channels are designed around people who will be in their cars for around 30-60 min? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. So, let me get this straight, everyone that argues that all of the people that are unhappy that they got sirius just for Howard, and think that Howard isn't putting out a good show, should check out all of the great music channels. Now you are saying that ok, the music channels might suck but that is because they are intended for commuters, ie., people who won't be listening for long periods of time? I don't think so. I think they are designed for people to listen for all different lengths of time, but they are programmed poorly, just like testicular radio was. I costs more to have a larger library. Plus, there djs are horrendous. I don't even want to go there. It is much easier for them to play the same playlist in rotation, and save money than to have a vast library and spend money on music to fill it. Most people are sheep and won't complain anyway...the others will have their own music. They just hope those of us that do have our own music won't leave...thus the free months when we cancel.

What I'm saying is that you are way out of the norm for listeners, they aren't going to base their service around someone that listens for 12 hours a day to one specific station, they are basing it around what the average listener is going to be listening too.

When you go to a restaurant there is a certain amount of food that they serve. It's an average serving of food. You clearly need about 20 servings. You should hit up the buffet. :D
timdawg6
I understand some people's frustration about Howard but I dont understand why people cancel. Its only 10 bucks a month. Have you tried to listen to regular radio lately? But I do agree with the music channels they are run piss poor. Some of the music channels try to be like Howard, if Im on a music channel I want to hear fucking music.

i wasn't assuming anything. I was responding to your statement that you listen to sirius because you like to keep up on new music, implying that if all i listen to is my ipod, i will be stuck with the same old music I have. I know you are a lot smarter than the average SFN sheep and know there is more to life than Sirius....that is just their typical argument. If you don't have sirius, you have only radio....it is crazy. I just went to an amp show yesterday with my friend. We met many of the top amp builders in the world and a few great artists...some of which I am sure many of you don't know...like Ron Thal..aka Bumblefoot...who plays guitar now for GNR, which is a shame because his own music is a zillion times better. That said, I can't imagine you would ever hear it on Sirius. My point is that Sirius wasn't turned on once in my car. We did manage to hear some great music on the way though. From Richie Kotzen, Oysterhead, to Mr Big, ACDC, Van Halen, Alice in Chains, STP, Parliament, ......................

I find Howard's desire to get the show over with annoying as hell, but the show still makes me laugh every day. Sure, I miss the scripted bits, although I don't think that has anything to do with Howard not caring anymore, but more to do with him trying to cash in on reality shows as they are the "in" thing for entertainment these days, whether we like it or not. Still, this is far better than anything else out there and is still quite good IMO. Also, for me I do like Sirius for their music which also comes w/o commercials...far better than terrestial radio. Plus, I'm a mark for the NFL channel and even Raw Dog from time to time. Can't beat it for when I'm traveling in a car.

It is just that when the show is on I am surfing other stations, Fuck ETM, broken down has been comedians, Jessica Hahn, Finally Buba and Ferell are not my cup of tea. Sirius took a chance, Howard got paid but the show is not the same.

I love Sirius or any satellite radio for that matter as long as Howard is on it. I like the channels and no ads. Love the talk too.

You haven't canceled already? I'm surprised since you clearly hate the show.

On the fence also.....just saw the new Sirius ad in which they end with..."Don't Miss Howard Stern this summer..." I can't wait for all the reruns.......esp reruns of Sal/Richard...D list guest, and the same tire phoney phone calls. At least the last few weeks where slightly better..........about three months back ( the guy with the biggest rubber band ball) that period was a real low point.

I love my sirius...during the football season it was great..while traveling it is great not to drive out of distance and lose your station...and I can go in and out of Howard shows and catch little things that I miss the first time...(some of Fred's sound effects are killer) and then there is always getting on the SFN while listening on the computer...couldn't do this back in the eighties :D

The Howard Stern show allows me to hear what Artie Lange has to say next, no reason to cancel.

If Howard retires, I won't cancel if he is replaced by Sal and Richard.

They offered me one month free and then, after I said no, two months. I told her that Stern is all I like on Sirius and he doesn’t really care about doing a good show anymore. The lady told me “Maybe Howard will start caring about doing a good show in those two months!” Yeah, sure.

Hate to say it, but I’m trading Howard in for three packs of Newport 100s a month. I really never thought I would cancel. Oh well.

At least you backed up your feelings with actions. Congratulations. Now I guess there is no need for you to stick around here and whine.
