Saw Furcal on ESPN night game I think make a unassisted triple play. Fuckers still couldn't score a run for Lee.
Player 1

Who knew that in addition to be being a great comedian that George Burns also had an unassisted triple play. Maybe he truly was God.

And judging by the numbers it looks like the unassisted triple play is the most uncommon feat in baseball to this day.

# of Players to Accomplish Uncommon MLB feats (in order of rarity):

  1. 40 HR -- 40 SB Club.....................4
  2. Unassisted Triple Plays................14
  3. Four Homer Games.....................15
  4. Triple Crown Winners..................16
  5. Perfect Games...........................17
  6. HR in 6 Straight Games...............17 (Bonds did it twice)

Numbers 1,4, and 6 are over multi-games/season.. all the others make any of those games special to be at

I agree about being there for one of the single game events...I was just posting what the least people have accomplished.

Side note: Hanley Ramirez first to reach the 50/50 club???

I don't think we will see another 20 K game since Wood's.

I hate to say it, but Dice-K may be the one to do it...he will have 17 walks as well, but he may be able to get nasty enough one night to whiff 20...

He will have 200 pitches by the end of his start then. Not saying nobody has the talent, but with pitch counts and set up men I don't think teams will risk it.

Didn't he throw over 200 one time in Japan?? I think he pitched 16 innings in a game once or some shit...or he started 2 games in a row? I don't remember. Gonna have to get a Sox fan in here to fill in the blanks. There are all kinds of Chuck Norris-esque stories surrounding this guy.

As an Indians fan it was nice to see... now if only they could win me a WS before I die (Im only 21 so I still got some time.....knock on wood!). But Asdrubal threw the ball into the stands...that sucks!

Well if you want to go with what the least people have achieved you could just use a 70 homerun season. Only 2 of those. But as was pointed out thats over the course of a season, not a single game.

2 grand slams in a game by one player - 12 times

BTW, unassisted triple plays are pretty lame.

They are? How so?

Cabrerra's catch yesterday was better than the triple play. See if you can catch it on Sportscenter...it was incredible

They're very rare, but they normally don't require much skill at all. It's just luck. All you have to do is catch a line drive and then touch the base and the runner.
