The second leg of the triple crown, The Preakness this Saturday. Here's the draw:

Post Horse Jockey OpeningOdds

1. Macho Again (Julien Leparoux, 20-1)
2. Tres Borrachos (Tyler Baze, 30-1)
3. Icabad Crane (Jeremy Rose, 30-1)
4. Yankee Bravo (Alex Solis, 15-1)
5. Behindatthebar (David Flores, 10-1)
6. Racecar Rhapsody (Robby Albarado, 30-1)
7. Big Brown (Kent Desormeaux, 1-2)
8. Kentucky Bear (Jamie Theriot, 15-1)
9. Stevil (John Velazquez, 30-1)
10. Riley Tucker (Edgar Prado, 30-1)
11. Giant Moon (Ramon Dominguez, 30-1)
12. Gayego (Mike Smith, 8-1)
13. Hey Byrn (Charles Lopez, 20-1)

Big Brown is the heavy favorite as expected.

From what I've read so far Kentucky Bear or Stevil will probably close out my tri with Big Brown and Gayego, but it's early so who knows.

Big Brown was super in the Derby. I knew he had to be good from post 20, and he's the real deal.
He's tough to bet. No value, but you lose when you bet against him.

Didnt barbaro die after he got hurt in the preakness?

Barbaro was 2006. Eight Belles died after the 2008 Derby.
The whole horse racing industry is going to get hammered if another horse dies this Saturday.
And it happens a lot. Cheap horses at small tracks. And Ruffian and Barbaro.

:( He broke his leg in the Preakness and had several surgeries afterwards, didn't recover and had to be put down.

Barbaro wasn't put down until 07. Did you know Barbaro was related to FunnyCide and 8 Belles.. I think rumor has it up here, Big Brown as well. :dontknow:

I know most horses trace back to Native Dancer. Some are very close relatives.
The same dam foaled the last 2 Belmont Stake winners. And her next foal after those 2, who's 3 this year, just won a stake at Belmont Saturday, and will be 2nd choice to Big Brown in the Belmont.
Those 3 horses are very closely related. Same mom.
