I missed the show where he said this but it was in the local paper!!

What context did he say it in and did he give any details? I knew Artie had a special place in his heart for my state!!
Schmitt
In the context that he regularly bought heroin from a guy in Wilmington Delaware.

Only in Delaware would Artie Lange buying heroin in Wilmington be front page news! Must have been a slow news day...but cool to see they think so highly of the show they made it a serious news item

Delaware is a drug hole! When i worked at a mall there (a zillion years ago) at night when the stores would close, tons of the shops where the kids worked would suddenly turn into drug stores. Literally.

All the workers would go store to store to buy whatever drugs they wanted. I remember the dude in the candy store using the scale to weigh out weed...and the guy in the tuxedo shop sold X.

Good times

Delaware is a nicer place to live than either NJ or NY, all 3 of which I have lived in.

I went to college at U of D, and Delaware is pretty nice, just a very slow paced kind of place. Drugs are everywhere. Its not like here in NYC, I can't have a Bagel, a hooker, some coke, weed and a newspaper delivered at Sunday at midnight if I wanted.

Wilmington Councilman Sammy Prado, a fan of “The Howard Stern Show,” said his girlfriend called him Thursday to tell him about an article on www.delawareonline.com about Lange’s trips to Wilmington.

“I cringed when I saw the headline. I was like, ‘Oh no.’ I don’t want this city to be known as The Dope City and have a bunch of fools coming in here trying to buy heroin,” Prado said. “I knew [Lange] was using heroin at one point in his life, but I had no idea he was coming to Wilmington. I was floored when I saw that.”

Prado said it’s not uncommon for people like Lange – middle-aged, white men in cars with out-of-state plates – to be in his district, especially the Hilltop area, looking to score drugs.

“He was probably getting it in my area because a lot of people come to the West side of Wilmington to get their dope,” he said. “But we don’t want Wilmington to be known as an infamous place where Artie Lange got his dope.”

Shortly after Lange’s tearful admission on “The Howard Stern Show” last year, Lange spoke on the radio program about a 2005 stand-up concert of his at Kahunaville, which came during the throes of his $250-a-day heroin addiction.

He told Stern he came to Delaware without any heroin and knew he needed to get something in his system or the symptoms of withdrawal would begin. (He made no mention of his Delaware drug dealer at the time.)

Lange said he made $18,000 for the Kahunaville show and was so desperate, he gave the check to his opening act, comedian Rev. Bob Levy.

“I said to Levy, ‘Take the $18,000. Take it. I don’t even want it. Just get me nine Vicodin,’ ” Lange said on air. “If you take enough Vicodin, it takes the withdrawals away.”

Levy did not take Lange’s money, but did get seven pills from Lange’s fans at Kahunaville that night, Lange said on “The Howard Stern Show.” “That got me straight and the sweat stopped.”

Once he was home in New Jersey the next day, he set up a meeting with another heroin dealer he knew and waited for him in a Burger King parking lot for two hours.

“A message from [my dealer] on my answering machine calling me back after asking for some [stuff] became more important than my mother,” Lange told Stern.

“It was like Christmas morning. That’s the life of an addict. It's so sad.”
