"I (messed) up," Davidson said after the Mets' 11-2 win. "I'm the one who thought it was a foul ball. No one feels worse about it than I do. I thought it looked like it hit the fan left of the foul line. I could have sworn it hit that fan or something to the left of the line, but looking at the replay, that wasn't the case."

a lot of good it does now.

close calls need instant replay.

Wouldnt have made much of a difference. Didnt they already agree on the replay for MLB? They talked about it for awhile then with everything else that happened over the last year I never heard about it again.

Not the first time nor will it be the last...F instant replay, the game takes too long as it is.

Kinda hard for him not to admit it no?
Wicked Red Sox
did not have an impact on the game as the mets blew out the yanks

Maybe as punishment he should go to Shea stadium and get kicked in the balls by each and every fan.

I can see it now 'Kick the Ump night at Shea'. Bring the kids along and receive a free shot at an incompetent Ump.

That's why they need limited instant replay only - maybe just HR calls, and only at the umpire's discretion. Would a booth review have taken any longer than what the umpires did last night, which was make a call, huddle, make another call, explain it to Randolph, argue, and throw Jerry Manuel out of the game.

Good point, but I just envision it ending up like football replay. I can't stand the fact that refs there are supposed to only get 90 seconds or whatever to review a play, but in reality they there is usually at least 10 minutes of down time every review...

Baseball has been around for well over 100 years without replay. I think it can continue to survive.

 never on a safe or out, or some check swing bullshit

When they talked about it before it was just supposed to be for foul balls and hrs not balls and strikes. You could screw a pitcher over big time if hes cruising along and has to stop every other pitch because the other team wants a review.

There's no way in hell you could even possibly consider using it for balls and strikes.

I think that was the argument why they didnt implement it back then. I cant find anything on it now,but I remember the owners couldnt decide if it should be used for close pitches or not. You could blow out a teams bullpen in 2 innings if they brought it in that way.

Played by men, officiated by men. Controversy is good sometimes, it's part of baseball lore.

I think it was Joe Morgan who said last night if we have instant replay then we would have every play being reviewed. Not if they make a rule with a limit per team each game or maybe only on scoring plays

Also, please remember that Joe Morgan is a fuckin' retard.

Umps fucked up a call in a Phillies game too earlier this year as they called DeRosa on the Cubs a HR and the Phillies ended up losing by 1 run. They need replay for at least HR calls.
