| I just saw on ESPN.com, under the Rumor Central tab that: "The Nets and Nuggets have discussed a deal that would involve Carmelo Anthony, Marcus Camby, Richard Jefferson and Marcus Williams." I cannot read more into the story because I am not an ESPN Insider, but if I hear anything else I will post, and I am sure all you out there in SFN world will post as well if any new news is heard. As a Nets fan, this sounds very exciting!!! RJ is good, but Melo is better. Camby is still one of the best rebounders/shot blockers in the league. I am very excited to learn more about whats in the works. |

Multiple league sources said the Nets and Nuggets have discussed a blockbuster deal that would bring Anthony and Marcus Camby to New Jersey. In return, Denver would get a package that includes Richard Jefferson, Marcus Williams, Keith Van Horn's contract and the Nets' lottery pick. There likely is more involved to make the salaries match up, but the sources said the trade could happen, making Tuesday even more important.

This deal would be AMAZING for the Nets (unless they get a top 3 pick in the lottery, and Im sure they would pull the plug on it). They would still have the 21st pick from Dallas, and would be getting one of the best players in the league and one of the best D men in the league. Imagine the starting 5 of:
PG- Harris
SG- VC
SF- Melo
PF- Boone/S. Williams
C- Camby
The Nets have been very good at "stealing" players from other teams via trade in the past. Getting RJ for Eddie Griffen, Kidd for that disease Marbury, VC for nothing, Harris for a pretty much used up Kidd, I'll even go as far as saying Kittles (after 73 knee problems) for draft picks and Swift for the most unless player in the world Jason Collins. The only real shitty trade I can think of is Martin for a few picks. Cant wait to see what the next few days hold. |

Hold on playa. Im just posting that from another site. I dont think it gets done, they have better options for trading Melo.
I feel bad for your Suns because they are done. Steve Kerr destroyed your team |

The Nets' representative at Tuesday's draft lottery may be minority owner Jay-Z — a good choice since everything the hip-hop mogul touches seems to go platinum.
Sources say the Nets and Nuggets have been talking trade, with Carmelo Anthony and Richard Jefferson as principals.
If he is in Secaucus and provides a little luck, instead of delivering his buddy LeBron James to the Nets in 2010, Jay-Z could improve their chances of acquiring Carmelo Anthony this off-season.

The Nets, in the lottery for the first time since 2001, have only a 1.1 percent chance of getting the top pick and a less than 4 percent chance of jumping into the top three. They just hope they don't fall from their current spot at 10.

It's hard to say if Denver would be less interested in dealing if the Nets dropped, but the Nuggets might be more likely to part with their franchise player if they could get a top-three pick such as Memphis' Derrick Rose or Kansas State's Michael Beasley. They're still deciding, however, if they want to move Anthony.
Either way, the Nets are expected to be one of the most active teams leading up to the June 26 draft. They have two first-round picks – No. 21 came from Dallas in the Jason Kidd trade — and three picks in the first 40.
The Nets want to win now and are weighing whether to use their picks and wait for the players to develop or trade for proven players. They're leaning toward the former. A source with knowledge of the Nets' thinking said they're looking to make "some bold moves."
Team president Rod Thorn and general manager Kiki Vandeweghe, who will represent the Nets on Tuesday if Jay-Z doesn't, have been gauging interest in Jefferson and Williams as well as their picks since the regular season ended last month.
"You're always looking to do something to make some sense," Thorn said. "If something presented itself that we felt could really help us,. then we might look to move either or both of our picks. But right now it appears to me we'll stay with at least the 10th pick and probably the 21st also."
Thorn admitted, though, that teams with multiple picks usually are the most active. After dropping from six to seven in the 2001 lottery, the Nets traded the No. 7 pick to Houston for three first-rounders. They became Jefferson, Jason Collins and Brandon Armstrong.
"I think you're probably a little more apt to do something if you have multiple picks because you have a little more leverage than if you didn't," Thorn said.
If the Nets do nothing, they think they can find a good player in the 10 range.
They're looking for size, athleticism, toughness and shooting. This draft seems deep at the power forward position and center spot around where the Nets are projected to pick.
Among the players who could be there that the Nets may have interest in are UCLA's Kevin Love, Kansas' Darrell Arthur, Florida's Marreese Speights, North Carolina State's J.J. Hickson, Louisiana State's Anthony Randolph and Nevada's JaVale McGee.
The Nets may have to wait for some of these players to develop, though. So if Denver is amenable to moving Anthony, the Nets would rather do that. That would be like winning the lottery.

I suggested a few years ago that the trade deadline day in the NBA should just be renamed Keith Van Horn Day. I think he's been traded like 4 more times since then. |

The Martin deal was a sign and trade. Not only did they make a good deal in getting anything for him instead of nothing, they made a great decision in not resigning him for max money.
Vince Carter and Carmello Anthony in the same starting lineup? What could possibly go wrong? |

You are right about the Martin deal, getting picks for him was better than just loosing him, and after seeing what paying him top $ got Denver, Im glad the Nets didnt hold on to him (although he was fun to watch and one of my favorite Nets). VC is know for not always giving it 110% and so is Melo to an extent, but I think with these two guys together and Harris, I think they will both play balls to the wall and put their "injuries" on hold. I know Melo has also had a lot of off the court shit, but this is the NBA, every player has fucked up time and time again and its never a problem. Kobe should be doing 25 to life, but hes the MVP looking to win another ring this year. Melo gets busted for pot a few times, didnt stop 'Sheed from getting wining. I dont put much on that, as long as you get it done on that court, thats what you are getting the millions for. As a Nets season ticket holder for 11 years now, I want to see some winning again and I want to see the seats filled for a change, and I think Melo (or some other big move) could get that done. But we will see. |
